We signed up to Bankwest a few years ago because of their zero transaction account (no monthly fees, free use of most ATM's) and the deal still can't be beaten! I'm never one to have cash on me, so you could imagine my relief when I was able to use pretty much ATM I come across and not have to pay those stupid fees. It's also great when I am with a friend and they have to look for a specific ATM and I can use any. Also, the staff are always really nice - the banks are amazing and I love their free coffee/chocolate milk machines. Never had a...problem with them and one time when a lady put my credit card in a few times, they called me on the spot and said someone was trying something funky with my card - I was still standing at the register! I was so impressed. Can't talk these guys up enough, they're really great. reliable, great customer service, good value, amazing
Online Home Loan
Read all the Negative Reviews and thought I should share my experience till day. I applied for online Home loan with BankWest. Got call from their representative next day. She was great. She asked me a couple of questions and to send related scanned documents. Firstly I got conditional and then unconditional approval, all within a week. Service and communication was great. I could not expect anything better than this even in face to face banking. Thumbs Up for BankWest !!!!!
Just wondering how next experience would be around settlement time............
Great Service and Communication, Cheapest home loan......
Been with them for over 10 years, Country definitely better than the city service. We have lived in regional WA nearly 7 years, they have always been friendly, fast and helpful. even when things got tricky they were right there for us. Even when things were tricky they did all they could and helped us consider options that we wouldn't have otherwise. Only fault would be some phone/online customer service - touch and go, very inconsistent and frustrating when you're talking about fraud :( Luckily it was eventually sorted but wiping all our PC's ...seemed extreme after they had been cleaned etc. People in branch are friendly, remember you and take their time to get it right. Always return calls and follow up to see how things are going. IT Fraud team - poor people skills (why I am surprised?!) took ages to get onto it and were not clear about expectations, considering we had done nothing wrong and were travelling due to work, pretty poor effort.
Our term deposit was due to be renewed so we went into the bank to see what they would offer us in the way of interest. We had done some research beforehand so knew what was on offer by other banks. The person we saw told us the going rate and we said well we can get a better rate at such and such a place can you better it or even match it. There was no hesitation just an immediate NO, so we said ok thanks we will take our money and go to the other bank. There was no trying to keep us as customers not even an offer of something else that mig...ht be as good. In this climate of financial in security you have to take what is on offer. We were disappointed as it was a hassel to change over. But if they did not care then so be it. seemed ok when we first joined, they were all over us like a rash when we said we were interested in having a term deposit The customer service was terrible. When we wanted a better deal on some investments they would not even consider matching other banks.
I had resigned myself to always being unhappy with my bank until I discovered BankWest. I then moved all my accounts over from one of the big 4. After years of bad service and rediculous bank fees I have never been happier with a banking service.
Excellent products with competitive rates. Great service on the phone and easy to use online banking.
Great at getting your business very poor at keeping it
Bankwest are great at enticing new customers. They offered the best interest rate for a 12 month period. After that period, Bankwest didn't want to know us. They had an offer out for new customers offering bonus interest for their savings account - this was 1% above what we were receiving. As such, I wrote and requested if we could have a higher interest rate. To which I was promptly told no. As a loyal customer who had a good amount of money, I expected some level of consideration and customer service. It was non existent. When I pointed this ...out to the bank, they said their bonuses were only for new customers. I do not understand how a bank can treat their existing customers so poorly. I started moving money out of my account and they contacted me to offer me a 'limited bonus' which still didn't make them remotely competitive. I am in the midst of switching banks and cannot wait to see the back of bankwest. Considering we are also in the process of looking for a loan - we certainly wont be going through bankwest! Lesson to banks, treat your existing customers as good as you do your perspective customers, you never know, they might be a customer interested in new products! Great offers for the first 12 months Forget all about you after that. Don't want to know about you, don't care about you.
Great access to ATMS (CBA and Bankwest) with no account fees or charges, Great variety of products. Ensure you take the time to read the product disclosure statement when choosing your product, as I did, and I get the best deal on my savings and transaction account. The staff at my local branch are extremely helpful in helping us choose the right product. Overall very different to the big 4 banks.
great range of services, very helpful staff, no fees when you select the right product. Funky looking branch design
Nothing so far but it is a bank so you'll have to pay fees as per what is disclosed in the PDS.
My experiences indicate systemic weaknesses in the bank. As pleasant as their staff are, I am left with little confidence in them.
Very pleasant staff on the phone and in the branch.
OK'd me for a credit card in about 20 mins on the phone- and I was completely unknown to them before I called.(Though I did have associations with the Commonwealth, who owns them)
Question the wisdom of their telling me my pin number while I'm on a cordless phone.
Have opened two accounts with them and were serious stuff ups on both occasions.
When my credit car...
Bankwest were peerless when they were owned by HBOS, but they are nowhere near the same force in everyday banking now they are under the wing of the CBA. They pioneered many of the innovations we are now seeing in other banks, but have lost their own way a bit since doing so. I'd be looking elsewhere now with my money.
Still reasonably competitive fees, though less so since the CBA bought them out.
The buy out by the Commonwealth bank, which led to bankwest losing its innovative edge. Also they have too may gimmicky" interest rates which lead you to believe you are getting a better deal than you are.
I ditched this bank not that long ago and went with a credit society. The big banks just want too much in fees and don't want to give much back to their customers. I did like the style of their revamped branches.
They have recently revamped a lot of their branches which look very modern and nice. As far as banks go they are alright and have good customer service. But I would not want to bank with them again, as they have too many fees.
They have a lot of fees and do not pass on enough to the customer.
My local stores are amazing!! I have four accounts with them, and there has not been one problem. My local Bank West staff know me by name, and are more than happy to help me with my finance. I applied for the BankWest e-Saver, and was somehow rejected by their office in Perth. They spent about one hour on the phone to their OWN call centre to figure it out, while I went shopping. I come back and they have the answer for me. THANKYOU BANKWEST
The acoounts, no fees, high interest, the free coffee/hot chocolate machine, the staff, ease of use, student account (comes with debit card) everything Bank west offers!!!
Ab - so - lut - ely NOTHING at all, only their Customer Call Centre. :(
Bank West is different banking. It is happy banking. They also have resonable fees and Customer Service. It is also great that they have joined with the Commonwealth, so know yo u can use any ATM. I think Bank West is the best bank in Australia.
Nothing at all.
We have just a straight-forward everyday account with them & we have not had any problems whatsoever. I will give 5 stars to any bank that lets you use any ATM without penalty!!
No excess fees at any ATM!
Other fees that they do charge are excessive.
Overall I am a big fan of the Bankwest, they are competitive and offer great rates and services to its customers. They do not charge fees on many of their accounts, nor do they charge fees in relation to withdrawals/ATMS. Bankwest is a very modern versatile bank which assists its customers in any way possible to keep their clients business or to obtain new clients business.
Excellent home loans, cheap rates, user friendly internet sites, great branches, very friendly staff extremely willing to help.
Have experienced that sometimes the staff can be a little slack in getting back to you.
Bankwest was certainly a surprising bank when it first opened-bright orange with a really amusing tv and kid-friendly playgrounds. You never have to wait longer than a few minutes, and as a bonus; you get freebies in the form of beverages and souveneirs! Even the waiting isn't bad, with such things to entertain you. Coupled with the competitive interest rates and wonderful service, Bankwest is the best bank I've found yet.
Really good interest rates for deposits, good rates for children accounts as well, it's cute and really good customer service.
I haven't found anything to dislike about it, it's such a happy bank!
Over all I have found things take an excessive amount of time to get done, staff follow up is slack if not non existant with constant excuses and passing the buck instead of anyone taking ownership of issues and resolving them.
Also their call centre staff seem to have limited knowledge of some of their processes and have a habit blind transferring calls to other departments (dumping you in a queue instead of introducing you to the next peron)so that you have to go through the whole ID process and repeat why your calling multiple times before ...
Bankwest is a breath of fresh air for banking and the products they offer seem to be tailored to my specific needs. I just hope that they stay ahead of the competition so that I can remain with them.
Their product offerings I believe are the best in the business. I have had their Telenet Saver account since December 2006 and I recently closed my Lite Transaction account with them and replaced it with their new Zero Transaction account. Telenet Saver pros are the high intest rate calculated on your daily balance, no fees, and your money acces...
Usually have the highest interest savings accounts, lowest fees on transaction accounts and competitive Home Loans and Credit Cards. Typically a market leader in deposit products and credit cards.
Highest interest savings accounts, both online and Term Deposit. Fee free transaction accounts that either pay 5% interest or have free ATM transactions from other banks ATM's. Low Home Loan rates and credit cards are good particularly Lite MasterCard at ~11%. Kids savings account at 10% is especially good. Always coming out with new products too.
Not much but online banking could use a spruce up.
