Excellent Carrier, the best I’ve tried!
I’ve had my Beco for 5 years now and it’s just amazing! Comfortable, soft and so handy having the 4 different positions! I wore my 14kg 16 month old just last week for a huge walk for about 2 hours and I had no back or neck issues at all. The padded lumbar is very comfortable. I tried a Lillebaby but they’re too hard to put on and I also used a wrap which is too fiddly and get too hot. Definitely recommend, they’re a lifesaverPerfect at the start
I loveD this carrier.I started using it when my baby was about a week old. It was comfortable, distributed weight well with the straps crossed over the back and I have never had a sore back wearing it. With the straps not crossed, the straps sat very uncomfortably under my armpits so I only left it like that for about 30 seconds before I had to cross the straps again. Most of all, my baby loves it! It's the only way I can get anything done and it puts her to sleep almost instantly. It's also a very good looking carrier, it's very simple in de... Read more
sign and not overly bulky. It's also nice to not have the brand written all over it so I become a walking advertisement, the logo is quite small on the waist band. BUT I am having to find myself a new carrier to buy, as my babies legs are getting too long to use the carrier ergonomically with knee-to-knee support! I was surprised when I had to change the seat from the narrow setting when she was only a couple of weeks old and nowhere near the weight guide they say in the manual, but I was more concerned about supporting her hips. Froggy position wasn't an option either, as she would just push her legs in between me and the waistband, no matter how tightly I wore it. Now at 8 weeks the carrier isn't supporting all the way to the knees anymore. She is a long baby, was born at 57cm and at 6 weeks was 61cm. If you are a tall family and think your bub will have long legs, I definitely recommend finding another carrier as the Gemini didn't even last through the newborn stage!Inferior baby carrier
I was disappointed with this carrier. In the photos it looks like a much higher quality but when it arrived I was disappointed to see that it is made from cheap flimsy cotton drill which picks up lint like Velcro and looks a mess without having even been used. The webbing used for the straps is cheap and nasty. The buckles are annoying and supposedly to ensure safety yet the one buckle that actually secures the carrier on the back/chest has a small crappy buckle without the safety catch. The shoulder straps are so wide that unless you are a big... Read more man they are far too wide to sit on your shoulders without looking ridiculous and feeling really chunky. It is hard to adjust the straps without using both hands as they pull from front to back when wearing in front carry position which is hard to pull your arms backwards to tighten enough for a small baby... I could write a book about the things that are wrong with this carrier. I was so surprised after reading so many good reviews. I bought the carrier online and was disappointed that I was unable to return it despite never having been used other than to try it on. Biggest waste of $180 ever.great carrier
I bought this carrier for my son when he was around 4mths old and I used it almost daily just around the house and he always seemed comfortable. He is now 14mths and is about 15kgs so has already outgrown it unfortunately, I still believe I could carry him in it if the back was higher to support him that little bit more.
Time to find a toddler carrier now.
The best thing I've bought so far
My son is now 16 months old and I still use our Gemini at least every second day, if not more. We've used it from birth and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is so easy to put on, no matter which way I wear it. We use it mostly in a front inward facing carry, but it is so easy to shorten the straps and put him on my back to go for a longer walk. I still wear him for hours at a time (he is 12kg now) and I can honestly say I have never once been uncomfortable. I once tried a friend's Ergo and it was so uncomfortable and hard to put on compar... Read moreed to the Gemini. I loved how it didn't need an insert when he was tiny too, which was great in summer time as he didn't get too hot. He is now getting a bit big for it but I will be keeping it for number two and buying a toddler carrier for him. It is honestly the very best and most used thing I have ever bought for him and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.The best baby item I've bought!!
I could not survive without my Beco Gemini carrier! After putting off buying one for a month or so, I decided to spend the money and hoped it would help with my colicky/unsettled baby. It's been an absolute lifesaver and worth every cent!
I use mine numerous times every day. My baby hates the pram, so I can finally go shopping again and I've also been able to do housework, cooking and work at my computer again. I don't feel as stuck at home when I can safely hold my baby and have my hands free.
The padded straps provide great support and I can wear it for hours at a time with no issues. I tell everyone how my Beco is my most favourite purchase and encourage anyone with an unsettled baby to get one.
Best Carrier out there!
I bought the Beco Gemini after a few months of using a stretchy wrap and a Chicco carrier that I was given as a gift. I loved my wrap and definitely recommend them for younger babies, but my son grew super quickly and fast became too big and heavy for a wrap and the chicco. I did a lot of research before buying the Gemini and was tossing up between this and the Manduca. I went with the Beco because you can wear it four ways. I love that he can face outwards, sit on the hip and the back. It is super comfortable, easy to put on by yourself and ha... Read mores an added bonus of having nice colours and patterns! Comfortable, can wear 4 ways, looks nice, easy to put on, bub loves it. Expensive but definitely worth it, especially if you're going to use it for multiple children. The safety buckles can be trickly but once you get the hang of it they're fine. It can also get hot and sweaty between you and bub on hot days. Most comfortable buckled carrier
After doing heaps of research, and buying a Boba 3G, I love my Beco Gemini! It's padded all over unlike other soft structured carriers, the cotton is soft and it's easy to put on and take off. The base can be made narrower for smaller babies and for different carrying positions. My son is going on 4mo and he's very comfy and happy in it. Great purchase, Boba will have to wait til he's outgrown the Beco!Soft, padded, comfortable
Straps are far too long, perhaps a Standard size and XL size option would be good?
Absolutely the best invention and investment
I'm not usually one to splash out on new baby gear but the Beco Gemini is definitely a worthwhile investment. It is almost as easy to put on and off as simply picking up the child. The waist band is comfortable and perfectly designed. I never, ever get a sore back. With my first child, I used a hugabub but it was cumbersome to put on and off, and the baby sagged before long. For my second, I first tried a hand-me-down baby bjorn but it killed my back even with a newborn and became too squishy for my cloth-nappied babe. The Beco doesn't require a newborn insert. It can be worn with baby facing both out and in, and on the back.Fantastic
I found this carrier wonderful for my 3rd child. I needed 2 free hands to get the others ready in the morning and my baby settled very well in the carrier. He was also quite unsettled and slept for much longer periods in the carrier than the cot for the first few months.Very comfortable for baby and mum
Great
I bought this for an overseas trip with my 19 month old and it was perfect for the airport/public transport, naps and bush walks. I bought it knowing I had another bub on the way and I have now been using it daily with my 2 month old for naps, getting jobs done and chasing my 2 year old round the park. Agree a pocket would be handy. Also, I'm not sure if it will be a bit warm in a Brisbane summer but I guess we'll find out! Overall, extremely pleased with it.Everything. Green Kids were good to deal with.
May be a bit warm in summer but haven't tested that yet.
Love
I purchased this carrier for my 2nd. I found that the dinner hour - when both are tired and cranky - was just impossible without a carrier and my old Bjorn was not suitable because I needed Go-Go Gadget arms to cook beyond where my bub could reach. So I decided to get a carrier so I could put bub on my back. It works brilliantly for that - she is happy cruising or snoozing away.To my surprise, when we are out and about, I have actually used it mostly with my toddler on my back and bub in the pram. It is so comfortable that it is not a h... Read more
assle at all carrying a toddler. But the brilliant thing about soft carriers is that you can stuff it in the bottom of the pram and bring it out for bub or toddler as the need arises. I love that you can front and back carry. I think bubs prefer to look out rather than at your back but when they need a snooze or you need to do something with you hands, it is so much better to have them on your back. You need 2 hands to undo the main buckle but you get used to it. For front carry, the front comes up higher than the bjorn does but bub doesn't seem to mind in the slightest. I still really have to focus when I get bub into back carry mode but that's probaby because I don't put her in the back much and haven't developed a rhythm. Overall, I am really thrilled with this purchase. comfortable, flexible, sturdy, front and back carry, comfortable for me & hubby, bub & toddlerGreat investment!
After trying the terrible generic baby/infant carriers out there I was over the moon when I first used the Gemini with my daughter, two minutes in.... Fast asleep!! It's so well made, easy to use (even the hubby loves it!) no pressure on your back and so much easier than a pram! Have now moved on to a toddler carrier but will use it again if we choose to have another little one =] Some people think it's a little pricey but honestly, it's worth every cent!Comfortable, adjustable, safety buckles, grows with baby, can breastfeed in, very cute designs and even the hubby will love it!
Beco Gemini - Excellent!
I purchased a Beco Gemini, after a friend's recommendation, from Greenkids in May right before travelling overseas. It was so wonderful to travel with and our baby was safe and snug the whole time. It is so comfortable to wear - I wore it for up to 8 hours a day walking around NYC! Much better than other brands I have tried. I would recommend it to anyone! Plus it is easy to use - I had a cheaper one and it took both my husband and I about 30 mins to work out how to put it on! The Beco was on in no time!Comfortable, easy to use, pretty patterns
Very expensice but worth it.
Use it everyday
This is the best baby item we have bought. Both my husband and I prefer it to a pram and our baby loves it. It is good quality and very versatile. We have used it inward facing on the front from birth, outwards front facing and now on our backs (7 months and counting!). It is easy to adjust and very comfortable for the baby and the wearer (much more than the other brands I have tried). Unlike some other carriers, the bottom is wide and is adjustable for smaller and larger babies so you can be confidant that they are seated in an ergonomic posit... Read moreion (ie not 'sitting' on their pelvic bone but have their legs almost horizontal and sitting on their bums). Our baby always settles in the carrier, its turned into our 'go to' if shes having a bad day! Sometime I jsut wear her around the house until she settles. Its also great on outing because you have 2 free hands. We have taken it (and no pram) on 2 international trips with no regrets. plus there's nothing lovelier than feeling your baby nuzzle into your back and go to sleep =) comfortable, adjustable, versatile, stylish, ergonomic for baby, expensive but totally worth itQuestions & Answers
Can it be worn more traditionally, meaning, without the "x-shaped" straps on your back?
Yes, you an wear normally. There is a clip on the straps to keep them from sliding off your shoulders. :)
Yes you can. It is your choice as to how you want the straps, whether crossed or just on your shoulders. As Bexa said, there is another clip you can use to clip the straps together so they don't slide... Read more
off your shoulders. I personally cross the straps when wearing bub on my front, but when I'm back carrying I wear the straps just on my shoulders and clip the safety strap across my chest. :)Thanks for replying! That's a major factor for me. Now the only thing that troubles me is the thickness of the material and its bulkiness, I believe the Ergobaby performance has more to offer...
