Good nursing pillow
I didn’t find the Bellybean to be a comfortable pregnancy pillow but it’s been a great nursing pillow. I lay it across my lap when breastfeeding to support baby’s hips on one side and my elbow on the other.
Purchased in January 2020 for $85.75.
Doesn't prevent rolling onto my back
33 weeks now and have been using nightly since 29 weeks. I have been lucky to not have had any pain or discomfort anywhere in my body. The only reason for purchase was to encourage side sleeping as I kept rolling onto my back. Unfortunately I still roll onto my back. I think the gap is too big so I put an extra wedge pillow in there but I still manage to roll onto my back. Also, I have to get comfy by putting a euro pillow in between my legs to keep the pelvis/knees supported. On the plus side, I do notice the support for my belly but I was ...already getting that from a basic wedge pillow. I have been known to spin and kick 90-180 degrees at night, so one big advantage is that the bellybean keeps me exclusively within the boundaries of the pillow on my side of the bed. So even though I still roll onto my back, the partner is happy to not get kicked in the legs/abdomen/head anymore and for that reason alone I would continue to use even after giving birth. I wouldn't re-purchase or recommend however, because ultimately it didn't address my specific needs.
Purchased in March 2020 at Bubmania Online store for $81.99.
Could have been better
I use this pillow religiously since 13 weeks and I am used to sleeping with it. However, the gap between is quite large and I don't feel supported all the times. My main concern is that it doesn't obstruct me from rolling to my back, which is a negative for the price. It does provide support for my belly though.

Nice but average maternity pillow
I've had my belly bean for about a month now, I do like it however it doesn't provide enough support for my back, its perfect on my bump but I still wake up with a really sore lower back, I think it just might be too wide for me (I have had to put extra stuffing in the middle of it to try and bulk it out a bit more). I am finding I need to place an extra pillow underneath it behind my back for extra support. Love using it for sitting up in bed etc & its a nice size plus the cover is really soft. Its an average maternity pillow for me but it seems like it works wonderful for others as per the reviews on here, I don't regret buying it though as it is still useful however I do feel that the price is a bit steep.
Purchased in May 2019 at Belly Bean for $85.00.
Not what I expected
I was expecting a spectacular pillow for the high price, but was a little taken aback when it was just 2 cheap round inner cushions and a cover. After a number of months, the velcro had lost it's strength and would come loose, which irritated me when lying against it. It was comfortable to use, but I can't justify the high price!
OK, but didn't meet my hopes
I bought the bellybean maternity pillow after searching for a pillow to help me sleep. At almost 6 months pregnant now, I am having trouble sleeping and constantly have a sore back and am unable to get comfortable at night.
I found the bellybean does provide some back support, and prevents you rolling onto your back at night but the front section of the pillow doesn't do anything for me other than pushing onto my belly and making me feel ill and hot. I've been using it for a few weeks now, persevering in the hope that my body would get used...to the pillow but am finding some nights I wake up with a sorer back after using the pillow! I'm wondering whether to bother to keep sleeping with it. The colour of the pillow cover is also different than expected and to that shown on their website. I ordered the dusty pink version, but in reality it is a peachy orange colour. I'm hoping I can use this pillow when feeding bub later on, as advertised you can use it as a feeding pillow, as it was too expensive to not get some use out of it. I don't think I would buy this pillow again or recommend it. Does provide some back support and is easy to roll over in the night without having to rearrange pillows Expensive, doesn't really do anything that special. Pillow at front pushes against belly instead of supporting it.
Loved it at first, then disappointed later.
When I first got this, early in pregnancy, I was very happy with it despite the exorbitant cost. It helped keep me very comfy at night and was not as hot as a body pillow. Half-way through the pregnancy though, I was already too big to lie with it on each side, I felt like it squashed me and my belly - and I'm a petite person and I wasn't carrying twins or anything. Wanting to get use out of still, I took the cushions out of the cover, and used one in front and one at the back - but it's a hefty price for two 35cm round cushions that I could ha...ve bought anywhere if I was going to use them with no cover. I think a better design would be to send a second or even a third cover with the order, each having progressively longer middle sections, for when ladies are bigger and need more room. Initially when I still fit in it I'd have recommended it to a friend, but once I outgrew it I definitely wouldn't - FAR too expensive for what it is especially if you can only use it for half a pregnancy. You can use it between your knees but a normal pillow does the job just as well. Excellent design for first half of pregnancy. Extremely expensive, no good once you don't fit in it, which for me happened from 20 weeks.
A good support front and back when lying on side.
I rotate between i section between knees and other in front of stomach to second night front and back.
I waited a few weeks for delivery due to my order being forgotton.
Quite expensive for a very simple style of pillow
expensive for the product simplicity
Questions & Answers
Henk, I think you’re doing more harm than good for your small business with these passive aggressive responses! I was considering purchasing but your tone is a little off putting.
I’d suggest you consider not being so dismissive of experiences that are not in line with your own - some women will experience things differently and that’s okay. All the best.
Agree, won't be purchasing this pillow after seeing a snippet of the type of customer support Bellybean provide. Better off buying a knock off from ebay for less than half the price.
Is it suitable for plus size women Also?
It's pretty small. I'm larger than average and I didn't really think it gave me much support at all.
