This product regularyl freezes and loses your recordings
The main reason to buy a PVR is to record TV shows to watch later.
The problem with this unit is it freezes regularly (approx every 2-3 weeks at the most) and the hard drive is wiped of all recordings when it resets.
So you cannot keep your recordings.
I sent it back and was told it was OK. Sure enough, still froze afterwards.
Add to this, you can't record to USB, and it turned out to be a dud purchase unfortunately.
Just went out today and spent $40 at DSE to get a single tuner that records to USB. At least this way once we have sometihg we like, we can keep it!
Don't buy beyonwiz based on my experience.
Good price. Great EPG, and very easy to use.
Freezes. Poor support from manufacturer.
I bought one in February, and was never really satisfied with it - it often froze, and this would result in programs not being recorded.
It died catastrophically in June. The replacement arrived in July and was no better in terms of reliability. To be fair, it probably records 90-95% of what it is meant to, and only freezes every second day or so, but that is FAR too often for. The reason I bought a PVR is so that I can record television shows I want to watch, and this device just keeps failing to record.
Overall usability is not too bad, e...

i then realised that mine had a western digital hard drive, (i had recently owned a external HD. which was also a W.D. and it never worked right either). so i went over to my brothers place to have a look at his. the HD. in it is a Samsung. so i would highly recome...

$540.00 down the toilet
I purchased an FV-L1 on Friday 04 December 2009 for $540.00.(top dollar at the time). I'm writing this review on 30 August 2011, having owned and operated it for the past 18 months or so.
What a waste of money.
The hard drive first froze about 3 months after buying it. it has frozen approx 6-8 times since then. In addition, at least 5-6 times it has stopped recording a pre-set program after 3 or 4 seconds, instead of the 60 or more minutes required.
A few days ago it displayed "ERROR 0000" when powered up, and continues to do so. After chec...

I pressed the wrong button kept showing e booting now the time how do you reset it?
I wish I knew! This has not been the most reliable product I have ever bought.
When it refuses to behave, we just unplug it from the wall and wait a while. Sometimes this has to be repeated.
Wish I had a better answer for you!
