Birds Eye Steam Fresh Fish Fillets

I thought this was a sea fish, it tasted of mould, and mud, disgusting. Nothing on the label to say it was dirty old catfish Show details
Birds-eye fish grown to a price in Asia – Why are these not correctly labelled as bassa. Bassa is Vietnamese catfish grown under huts in dirty rivers or in open drains and sewers. Those who love it should try real Australian fish. Aussie fish tastes like fish and is not grown to supply Birds-Eye, as they maximise their profits with garbage. Show details
Absolute winner – Absolutely love this fish, love all the flavours, excellent with salad for a really tasty meal. Love it. Show details
Fast and healthy weeknight dinner – This is wonderful for a healthy work night dinner! They're delicious, and come with plenty of sauce. I grab a bag of stir fry vegetable mix to go with. By the time the microwave pings, the veggies in the wok are ready. I tip in the steamed fillet and sauce and mix it in/ break it up in the wok. The provided sauce coats the stir fried veg. Dinner is sorted in under 6mins. So healthy and yummy! Perfect. Show details
Can't live without Birds Eye steamed fish and sauce – I eat the Thai red curry and the Citrus and Parsley versions. I am addicted. Bought eight boxes last week on special from IGA Moss Vale. I serve the fish and sauce with steamed vegies and mash. You likely guess I'm a fan. The sauce recipes are beautiful - well done Birds Eye Show details
Never ever again!! Don’t even bother! – The fish didn’t cook in the recommended time. The sauce taste was just horrible. Watery and a horrible flavour that continued to repeat on both myself and my husband. I miss their old Fish in Parsley Sauce that was in a plastic bag and was cooked in boiling water. It really was a 0 star because it ended up in the bin. Show details
Very hit or miss with quality – I buy this very frequently (I buy a pack in every grocery shop and eat it at least once a week) and multiple flavours - Thai red curry, Citrus & parsley, and soy & ginger…. The quality has really deteriorated in the past months! I find that every few times I cook one, I’ll cook for the recommended time plus an extra 30 seconds and the fish will… Read more
come out half, if not all raw where other times I have no issue. Other times I’ve had to throw the whole things away because the entire piece is inedible because of some sort of gristle on it, not sure what it is but you cannot even cut the fish.
The paper bag is useless for cooking. You lose most of the sauce because it sticks to and burns on the bag so you’re getting a very flavourless piece of fish. Also, it’s $9 a box for 2 tiny pieces of fish and it’s never on special. The only time I ever seen it on special it was $7.
What is going on with this product?
A quick tasty meal – I enjoyed the fish in the sauce, had no issues with the microwave and the paper bag. Served it with the steam fresh cous cous, a quick, easy and tasty meal. Show details
Revolting – Cooked the fish in the microwave for a bit longer than the recommended 5 and a half minutes . Served it into a plate only to discover half of it was still raw! Yuck Show details
Disgusting! – If I could, I'd give zero stars. This is the most disgusting fish in sauce I have ever tasted. The flavor is so bad, I had to bin it. NEVER AGAIN!!! Birds Eye - don't you taste your products? Where's your quality control? This should NOT be available for public consumption. Show details
Used to be good but no more – We used to eat your Steam Fresh Fish on a regular basis, but then you changed the packaging. Paper bag is useless. Leak, can't see inside, etc. Less sauce. Now comes from Vietnam. Won't be buying again unless you go back to the original way. Show details
SURPRISE!!!! – I hadn't purchased the Steam Fresh Fillets for a while and when I tried, it was out of stock at both Coles and Woolies. It appears I dodged a bullet as when I checked it out on Woolworths web site, its country of origin is now Vietnam, and of course the fish ingredient is Basa. What's surprising is that this Basa "aka Vietnamese catfish", is $9.20… Read more
a pack, or about a $1 a pack dearer than Birds Eye packs that contain actual seafood such as Whiting, Barramundi & Flathead. Sorry Birds Eye, your credibility as a quality supplier has nose-dived in my opinion. I now have to read the contents of every one of your products before purchasing.
Excellent – These convenient pouches have perfect cooking instructions and are incredibly tasty and with perfect texture. Show details

Birds Eye Steam Fresh Hoisin & Ginger - Better than most! – We aren’t a frozen food household, however, during the Covid-9 chaos we thought we’d stick up - tempted we heated it up on a lazy night! So first, we had 2 served each cause we are familiar with a Siloam portion of good and not sample versions of portions lol In any case, we were impressed by this composition of ingredients, despite this being… Read more
our second ever frozen food experience, we would consider another purchase of it down the track - for emergencies only though and dishes other than Italian cuisine cause those I’ll do myself lol - 7/10
Tastes Good but Terrible bag for cooking in – Have tried both flavours of this item, and they both leaked out of their bags in the microwave, making a terrible mess. You have to cook one bag at a time, and it needs to be placed in a reasonably deep dish, to contain the sauce when it comes out the air holes in the bag.
