the pregnancy bible – The first time a came across birth was at doctor's surgery after experiencing the miscarriage of our first pregnancy. It stood out from the other pregnancy books at the waiting room because of the warmth with which the authors treated such a sensitive issue. The next time we got pregnant I didn't stop until got my own copy but I was nevertheless… Read more

surprise it was such a comprehensive and easy to read book. It had an answer to every question I had (and even the ones a didn't realise a should ask -like restless legs!). I recommended and lent it to several friends and they love it too! Well structured, topics easy to find. Scientific but easy to read. AND Australian practices and standards of care so I new if I was being well looked after

Excellent – I read a LOT of pregnancy books while pregnant, probably hundreds, and this was the best one I believe. The fact that it has australian authors was really great, as they were talking about the systems and laws and general baby-stuff that is in Australia, not America or the UK like the vast majority of other baby books. It was a well laid out and… Read more

easy to follow book. Although a big book, it was light on the 'technical' stuff, so wasn't hard to read. I even managed to get my hubby to read some of it! australian authors and well laid out

Excellent – This book is a fantastic buy. I would recommend it to anyone, and will be holding on to it for when I have my next baby. It is also backed up by a great website - birth.com.au I bought this book because it came highly recommended as one of the best books of its kind that is actually written by two Australian women for Australian women - a nice… Read more

change from some of the UK or US books on the market. A very good reference tool. Nothing. It is large, but it needs to be to be as comprehensive as it is.

Excellent – This was definitely a good buy and a well used book. Hubby used to pick it up regularly to see what our growing baby was developing this week. When I was ready for more information at each new stage (conception, early pregnancy, nutrition, physical symptoms, emotional stuff, breast & bottle feeding, labour, newborn care, choosing everything from a… Read more

maternity wardrobe to multivitamins to labour bag to nursery needs) this book always laid out the options for me without having to search far and wide. A friend has since borrowed this book after being stressed out by a very opinionated book and is off to buy one herself. Very comprehensive - Lots of detail. I liked that it covered preparing for concieving so well - nutritional requirements etc.. rather than just covering topics for once you are already pregnant. I also liked that it covered all the options (natural therapies as well as medical) without pushing you into one narrow opinion. Not too expensive (about $30 at KMart) None that I can think of?

Good – I purchased this text and was glad that I did. I was seeking more info on my pregnancy and this book satisfied my curiosity. I'll keep it in my library for future reference. The same authors have a weekly e-newsletter and website which covers many of the same topics. A comprehensive, Australian book on pregnancy written by two women. Useful index… Read more

to find topics of interest. Written for non-experts who are seeking a reasonable depth of information without resorting to medical texts. Contains a lot of information which can be difficult to take in if you try to read it cover-to-cover. At one point I suffered from info overload and had to put it down for a few weeks to give the brain a break.

Excellent – I liked how it has the answers to every question you can think of and more. Written by two Aussie women who both have kids. One is a midwife and the other a childcare educator. So you can trust the info is accurate. Covers the pro and cons to each issue and offers non biased info. I've used it as my pregnancy bible and think it's well worth… Read more

Excellent – Highly recommended. Buy or borrow this book and use it throughout your pregnancy and beyond (as it also covers the post-partum period - ie, about 6 weeks after the birth). If you are not sure, try using the web site for a while first to give you a feel for what the book is like. The web site also has a weekly email newsletter for pregnant women.… Read more

Very comprehensive! Covers everything you need to know and more. The birth.com.au website is also a great reference. Nothing.... except maybe because it is such a big book, it is quite heavy to lug around.
