what a wonderful little machine
this is a fantastic machine, easy to use and also has the added versatlity of being able to clean timber/vinyl flooring as well. Doesn't leave excess water behind and carpets come up brilliant every time.
also lightweight with a good length of cord attached

Perfect if you have kids or pets
Love our bissell for those times when the kids/adults/pets spill or exude something on the carpet. Easy to use and set up which means we use it quite frequently to mop up big spills an stains on the carpet. The tank is really large so you don't have to fill up the water often and not too heavy to push for the average person
Parts price rip-off
My bissell carpet shampooer has been a disappointment. It does not extract the dirty water adequately from the carpet leaving dark shadows when it dries. The pump had to be replaced not long after the machine was out of warranty then the belts and now the tank base must be replaced at a cost of over $50.00 (including postage) because the rubber gasket has perished. This is disgraceful. I will not pay for any more repairs for this machine. It would be just as cheap hiring a cleaner from the supermarket.
Have had this machine for nearly 2 years.
First time use surprised me at how much dirt was in carpet, despite having it regularly cleaned professionally.
Cleaner works well & has now paid for itself compared to getting the professionals in. Have only used Bissell chemicals, which are expensive, but it results in a clean carpet.
Handy for cleaning spots, which would otherwise go uncleaned, because of the cost of getting in a professional.
Hopefully will get many more years use out of this machine & have no hesitation in recommending it.
Thank you Bissell.
I have had an old Bissell Pro Heat carpet shampooer for years but last week I destroyed it by putting the water reservoir and lid in dishwasher to give it a good clean. Never do that! I could have bought a replacement reservoir bucket and lid for a perfectly good functioning machine but it was time for an update. I chose a model without the onboard heater this time - you put hot water in it anyway - and I'm very happy with the improvements Bissell have made in the last decade (except the woeful instruction manual which I will get to later). I l...ike: the easy foot pedals; the new water reservoir with the handy lid on the clean water bladder; the cleaning efficiency (even better than my old machine); the crevice tool; the ease of use. I wish it had included the rotating power headfor upholstery which my old machine had, and I wish it sucked more water out of the carpet. However I will trade very slightly wetter carpets for much improved cleaning. As for the instruction manual - it is woeful as previously stated. The instructional photos are very bad - dark, blurred, small photos of the machine which apparently show you where to attach bits - if you are lucky and have 20/20 vision. When are big companies going to learn, that not all customers are young, over-confident machine cowboys? Sharp diagrams please, not photos. After a little struggling to work out what was what and where it went (by eventually consulting u-tube) ,there was a large part not referred to at all except as an excessory (bad) picture on the last page. Apparently a is hard floor attachment. Again, u-tube came to the rescue to explain where it went and how it attached. Bissell is too good a company and the product prices are too high to have such a poorly produced, poor quality ,barely useful instruction manual so I sincerely hope they do something about it. Not everyone can access u-tube. Finally to add a word of advice to new owners of these wonderful machines, once you have gone over a patch of carpet with the trigger compressed to shampoo and suck up water in one action, release the trigger and go over the patch as much as you need to to suck up every last drop of water that you can. You can see the top of the tank when water is no longer being sucked up. And listen out for the engine tone which goes up slightly when the tank is empty. Expect an average bedroom to need 4-5 changes of water. Yes, the machine is noisy but good engines are. I give five stars for the machine but one off for the very poor "manual".
Works well on tiles and carpet
Bought machine a week ago and have used it extensively.
PURCHASE PRICE: $400 (listed at $449)
We have a tiled kitchen/family room floor with tiles which have an uneven surface (not mirror finish) and grout which is not flush with the surface. The Bissell cleaned these well although the grout may need extra work. The machine comes with a "crevice" type tool for the hose and using this was effective for grout. When we bought the machine, a Bissell rep was present in the store (The Good Guys) and he advised that we not use the...
