OK tent for dry summer single person camping
Used this tent a number of times in different conditions within Australia.
Two average height adults on sleeping mats and sleeping bags is a seriously tight fit, be ready to store the majority of your belongings within the vestibule including hiking backpack, boots, trekking poles pots and jetboil etc.
The main issue we have with this tent is the lack of room towards the feet at head, and as moving in the night the sleeping bag will press the tent inner against the fly as water will pass through the fabric onto the sleeping bag.
Alongside...this, the sagging in the inside tent structure reduces the internal head height and restricts movement further. This tent would not be my recommendation for heavy rain fall, as areas such as the zippers in the fly are prone to water penetration, and as the tent takes on rain fall, sags touching the inside tent fabric which eventually accumulates and rain drops will fall on your sleeping head.
Purchased in January 2018 at Ray's Outdoors for $350.00.
Practical but a little too short
I'm 178cm tall and do find that the tent is too low at the ends and possibly too short. Ok if I'm the only one in the tent because I can lie diagonally but can be difficult to get comfortable if you're a back sleeper with two people due to the tent pressure on the feet and head.
Vestibule area is not big enough for my 48L pack but great for boots etc. Easy to setup, have not tried a setup in the rain as yet.
I will be using this tent for my teenage daughters and getting myself a longer tent.
Questions & Answers
Would this tent need a footprint?
In my experience I've never needed one. The material is thin but I've always cleared where I'm going to set up as much as possible and its been fine. A footprint might not be a bad idea to keep the general wear down but I haven't found it a problem.
