Worst car ever!!!
We bought this car in 2007. It started leacking engine oil from the very begining but we were told the truth (by BMW) in 2010 just after its warrenty was expired. Then the gearbox sterted leaking a couple of years later. BMW charged us $2500 to fix both leakings. Few months later the engine started leacking again but this time from the bottom. I was given a quote for $1100 to get the second leackage fixed. I waited for a while and went back to get the job done. The quote went up to $4000. when i asked why, they said the engine is leaking from e...verywhere now. What? Am I driving a BMW or a crappy low rating car? we bought it new and paid a bit mor than $50K for it. BMW blames the driver but I blame BMW and its poor quality. This car is 10 years old but it has only done about 100K. it is mostly driven by my wife (50+) who is a very good driver and never had any traffic offences. This is the worst car we have ever had! Based on this experience we will never ever buy a BMW again and I don't recommend it to anyone... even to my enemies!
Shocking value, poorly put together. Service costs are high - $160 for windscreen wiper blades as an example. Dealers don't care as they are more interested in the top end of town. Buy an AUDI or the like.
The concept of a BMW in a hatch. Bluetooth, etc.
Overpriced with poor resale value. The reliability is shocking. For the first 6 months BMW had the car for longer than I did - windscreen leaks, window issues, road noise.
Questions & Answers
Hi my 2005 120i with 140k on clock has started to blow blue smoke on acceleration once car is warm. Car has been regularly serviced and does not seem to be using oil. Any ideas?
Sorry Dee, I'm not an expert but if it's blowing smoke it usually Indicates some cylinder wear but my understanding it is usually associated with oil usage as well...have a mechanic look at it before it gets worse.
We have a 120i 2009 m sport (purchased new). The drivers side seat heater has stopped working. I pulled out seat and dismantled, but the pad looks fine and buzzes out (back and seat) on an ohm meter. Replaced, but led's turn on then go off after about 6 or 7 seconds. Swapped connector block from passenger side (which works), but same issue. Checked and only #3 and 10 fuses are in the fuse box. According to the fuse chart the others, (45/46 & 68) are missing and I have never taken them out. Would just 3 and 10 be enough to power up both seats? or should I put in relevant fuses to locations indicated on fuse chart?
Sorry Rod, mine never had seat warmers and I not much on electrical
Does anyone know if the 56 plate bmw 1 series 2.0l msport is the N47 or M57 engine ?
