BMW won't help with a faulty airbag
After a BMW recall to fix the airbag in 2019 the airbag light has come on yet BMW won't review the fault without getting paid a substantial amount. I have heard on many instances of this occurring. BMW has continued to not take responsibility for faulty airbags which have been well documented as being a manufacturing issue. BMW product backing is extremely disappointing and will destroy their resale value if they continue down this path. BMW shame on you.
- 3 Series G20 M340i xDrive (2019-2021)
- Verified purchase
Worst car I have ever purchased.
I picked up my 2020 BMW 340 Xdrive in March 2020. With the lockdowns in Melbourne - car has only done 3000Km in 8.5 months. During that time the car has been back for repairs than its been anywhere else.
1. Assisted Driving system failed while doing 100km on M1. Car went across 2 lanes.
2. Computer goes offline
3. Assisted parking system keeps failing and throwing errors
4. Rattling sunroof
None of these issues were fixed. BMW keeps reloading the software and handing it back saying its fixed. As a consumer of BMW, you have no other choice but to keep going back to them to get the car fixed. Right now they have had the car for 2 weeks and still no idea on when it will be fixed.
Terrible service, terrible product.
Put off BMW for life
I bought my 2002 BMW 318i with low km in 2017 because another driver at work liked BMWs. I saw this one on eBay at auction about $2k and went to see it. Having seen it I got soft for maybe the first time in my life and offered the guy what he wanted for the car, $5000. Roof liner drooped, radio wouldn’t turn off. And ‘ohh no, we don’t have service record books’.. dead ringer for a problem.
Never have I made such a soft hearted and soft headed mistake but at the time all I wanted to do was stop my wife from having to drive me 1/2 hour to work ...
Purchased in February 2017 for A$5,000.00.
Where do i start?
Where do i start with this car? A lemon from the get go.. we had to replace two lots of electric windows and put the proper sized battery in. We had a BMW 318I.
Car kept just randomly dying after driving it to go out then get back in it to leave and nothing. :/ it did this to me on the bypass on my way to work. Lucky i had enough time to pull over. I lost many shifts and my son and i were constantly stuck at home because of this car. Was also stranded out with my son several times. Not happy. Took it to MANY mechanics who couldn't find the pr...
Shocking quality and BMW not willing to cover faults under manufacturer warranty. Really bad custome
Quality of wheels is really bad. Just within a year clear coating is peeling off the wheels.
BMW is bouncing me between different dealerships, as no one wants to fix the wheels under warranty as it will cost them $. BMW is showing no ownership of their warranty coverage.
Even after raising the issue with the head office twice (over the phone and in written email), there is no response or even acknowledgement that someone is looking in the customer complaint.
I am just about to take this matter to consumer court next week.
BMW just come wi...

I have wanted to drive a BMW my whole life and after just over a year of driving a 335i sedan on a novated lease I must say I am so disappointed and expected better for BMW. This car is a straight up lemon. 2 major problems which arose in the first year of using the car, first one a crack and subsequent leak in the coolant system. Second one a few months later the car just wouldn't start apparently due to "software problems" affecting the starter motor. We have had to pay around $4000 to date out of our pockets as the novated lease budget wasn't sufficient to cover the rip off prices that BMW service charge. Next car will not be a BMW thats for sure. Crap quality.
driving experience great, handles good, no noises, stops well. nice leather seats, plenty of leg room. reliability none.always breaking down. running costs through the roof. the most unreliable, expensive car i have ever owned.stay away from this series 3 model. you have to take it to a specialist car mechanic,
I bought the Vehicle New and at first I loved it although it didn't take long for that to change. The Car itself is extremely lovely in Looks, Paintwork, Wheels, Sunroof and Tint and Wheels all look nice. It is a Sport Line Model and has Low Profile Tyres which I do not like as they give a Hard Ride and are also very noisy. Just a few Weeks after purchasing the Car I was Driving through a Country Area (Luckily) and as I Turned Left the Horn sounded and did not stop. I pulled to the Side of the Road and tried everything I could to get it to stop...without much success although after about 5 or so Minutes it just stopped. When I tried to Restart the Car it went crazy again so I just left it were it was and Rang for Assistance. When the Mechanic arrived he had no answer for the Problem and just Disconnected the Horn altogether. Drove it for several Weeks before I was able to Attend a BMW Service Centre where they could find no Fault with the Horn. Long Story Short, I still have the Problem with the Horn Sounding on it's own intermittently which makes it very Stressful when I have to Drive it anywhere. Had a 4 Hour Drive on Tuesday to the Nearest Service Centre as the First Service was Due although I only had 6,800 Kms on the Clock that was just over 7,000 Kms when I arrived at the Centre. During the Drive down I heard a strange Whirring noise coming from the Back of the Car and knew what it was straight away. The Service Centre verified my worst thoughts and informed me that it needed a New Differential although I would have to Drive the Car the Four Hours North and bring it back another Day. They informed me that they would need the Vehicle for at least two Day's which means at least two more Nights Accommodation in a Hotel. The Vehicle is also Fitted with Automatic Door Locking and Seat Belt Tensioners as you Drive off and these only work around 2 out od 10 Times and BMW said that they cannot find any Fault. With the Horn Problem and now needing a New Diff and currently Driving it around with these Three MAJOR Problems and a great Lack of real interest from BMW, you could certainly Guess that I am a little more than just Disappointed. Of course an Offer of a New Vehicle is totally out of the Question as We, The People, are nothing more then Dollar Signs to any Company, no matter who they are. NEVER would I EVER suggest to anyone again to Buy a BMW as they are nothing more than Glorified LEMONS. It's certainly nothing more than a total Disgrace to have to Drive such a Faulty Vehicle around that dam well Costs a Small Fortune and never knowing when the rotten Horn will sound again and BMW can't even work out what the Problems are. I could go on for another Hour at least about how Disgusted and Angry I am but what's the use as no one really cares. Just give them the Money and disappear. So, if anyone is Interested in a Beautiful looking BMW, 2016, 330I Sports Line with only just over 7,000Kms, please let me know. Thank you all for your Precious Time, I really do Appreciate it.
GREAT WHILE YOUR BUYING THE CAR, BUT ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE AND BACK UP WARRANTY
They are great with the sales process and quick to sell you a car, but seriously absolutely disgusting on their back up warranty and service, especially Motorline BMW Logan, the service manager has the worst attitude and they definitely don't stand by their brand and product which is a real shame and what makes things worse, the attitude of the service manager is 'i don't care that you have had 12 Bmw's if you don't come back and buy a car again i don't care'.
An E90 Lemon
I bought a 2007 demo e90 323 and had it for 18 months. Within 2 weeks it went into limp mode & had to loaded onto a truck & taken back to the dealer. The problem persisted sporadically and was quite frightening, when coming to an intersection and accelerating to cross the road, the car would again limp across the intersection. As the car was under warranty the software was upgraded 3 times and the top half of the engine including overhead valves etc. was renewed, all to no avail. I had the chief techo from BMW Australia look at it. He insisted...on me driving, which I did to demonstrate the problem. He told me that it was my driving style which the engine management system was replicating. I knew there was nothing wrong with my driving style as this was the 6th BMW I had owned & driven over a 20 year period with no problems. My only alternative was to trade it on a Lexus & two cars later (an IS250X and IS350FSport) I have had no issues!!!
DON'T BUY .... ABSOLUTE LEMONS
Hi Guys, i bought a Second hand 2009 BMW 320i at approximately 65000km just under 2 years ago which i have just recently traded in (THANK GOD). Since i have had this car i have never been to the mechanic/dealership so many times where i actually knew the service advisers on a first name bases and was asking them how the family was... Everything that could go wrong went wrong since i had the vehicle, from Sensors, oil leaks, gasket, seals and many more problems. I was actually using more oil then fuel before i traded it in. I was always on time ...with my services. I emailed BMW Australia with my disappointment and their reply was "Due to the age of your vehicle we cannot help you in any way" Age of my vehicle the lemon is only 6 years old. A vehicle that's half the price and with more options then a BMW last a lot longer then this car. Will never be a BMW owner even if you gave it to me for free or even paid me !!!!
Bought new 2010 320i Executive. Had bad car accident, not 1 airbag deployed after 2 collisions: bounced off a car and then a pole.
Can I sue BMW?
2010 BMW 320i Rubbish
Purchased brand new, has been to the dealership on no less than 10 occasions. Added recent invoices up and it has had 14k worth of repairs luckily under warranty. Problem items, 6 months into ownership:
- mechatronics gearbox replacement 11k to fix (6000 km's)
- cylinder head cover replacement and vacuum pump replaced twice (36000 km's and 66000 km's)
- faulty ignition key
Every service was done by a BMW dealership in accordance with the service intervals specified. Car looks great as it is fully optioned. Never done a review before but would like to let people know my experience. It is getting traded asap. The last fault vacuum pump and head cover replacement was covered under Allianz Extended Warranty. No problems with the claim.
BMW 3 Series E90
I bought my wife a brand new 3 series Executive, paid $65k in 2005, within 10 months the auto blew up, great under warranty, what a Nightmare of a car. Every time we took this car to BMW the minimum cost was $1000. We still have the car, the engine light comes on often, we have replaced that many Valvetronic motors, we continue to get different lights all the time. 2 weeks ago I was offered $4000 as a trade in on a Merc, the dealer apologised to me for the insult, but as he said, the 3 series was the worst car BMW have ever sold. I would agree with him 100%.
NEVER buy a BMW, this piece of ......... cost us a fortune! Not Happy :(
Never would buy another BMW 2008 320i E90
Well I bought my BMW from Rockhampton at a 2nd hand dealer. I drove out of the dealership, 5 days later my car decided it doesn't want to start, only when it felt like it cause: there was a crack in the water bottle for the windscreen wipers so the bottle was dry... 2 week's after that I had smoky particles flying in through my air con vents and chocking me and my children cause: vacuum seal at the back of the engine... Lucky I had my whole 3 month used car warranty (sarcasm). 5 months later I keep blowing my central locking fuse and then the b...ig fault came, my car's dash lights go haywire then my car shuts down completely: engine, transmission everything... So as BMW is the closest dealer with a diagnostic machine (500+km away) I got my BMW towed to find out I have a failed dsc module and they want to charge me $5800 to fix!!! I would have to say this model of BMW is rubbish. Buy a 96 Commodore and you'll have better luck and reliability! If I had Googled common faults for this type of car I would never have looked at it. I am not happy with the fact of a luxury car under a good name can be built so horrible with so many faults. BMW should have recalled this model as my dad says BMW stands for Bring My Wallet. Never again in my life will I spend big money on BMW again! Fuel economy was good. Bad make of car too many faults, Google it!
Never buy out of warranty
I purchased a 2006 320i with 100,000km and full service history. In 14 months ownership I had multiple problems and estimate I would have spent $8,000 on services and maintenance issues including multiple oil leaks. I understand and accept that a second hand car will have faults but I have driven cars with over twice that mileage before that were a lot more reliable - I think it says a lot about BMWs build quality - the BMW specialist mechanics I took it to said this model was notorious for oil leaks. The driving experience was nothing special either. Much happier now I have got rid of it and purchased a Lexus.
