Great car if properly maintained, not suggested for winter
I've had an 03 325i for 4 years with 148km, now with 212km and I can say they are a beauty to drive and fairly easy to work on compared to newer cars in general. Just get a scanner and it'll tell you everything you need to know. There are things that break such as the fuel pump, expansion tank, water pump, wheel bearings, a/c, window regulators and oil filter housing gasket. These are all the things I've replaced, all on my own. And this car has never broken down while I was on the road. I find these car to be under powered for an inline six wi...th only 184 HP but then you look at the 330i with 240. This car still gets up to speed faster than some 2019 cars. If you live where it's cold, this car will cause you a lot of sensor problems as it ages and rust will form, that is what I'm dealing with now and it will eventually die or just be too problematic to deal with. I wouldn't suggest this car for an average joe . These are classic cars especially the m3 which can cost 10,000 CAD and up, so parts are pricey along with labour which is why seomeome who is capable of working on these cars would love it.
Purchased in September 2015 at Family.
Great car but don’t expect it to be cheap
I bought the car secondhand with 64000kms in 2014 and it has been more reliable than my first 3 series, as well as more reliable than my previous Honda Accord Euro.
Great car to drive with weighty steering that’s feels more involving. And generally the engine and transmission has been no problem, but there have been a few things that have been issues.
Expect to pay more for tyres. As there is no spare tyre, your only choice is run flats which are generally more expensive and give a harsh ride.
THERE IS NO DIPSTICK! As i have never had ...great luck with cars, i do like to check the oil once every two weeks. Unfortunately after I purchased I realised that it has an “electronic” dipstick where the car tells you how full it is. So far so good, there has been only 2 times in 4 years it has asked to top up with 1 litre of oil in and I’ve had no problems. However i am weary of aging German technology. Also I’ve had issues with the two rear window regulators breaking and dropping the windows. As you don’t want to park anywhere without securing your car, I had to get these fixed quickly and was $450 each time. Personally it has been a fun car to drive and pretty reliable in terms of the engine and transmission. Things to consider is that its not a Toyota and will cost more to fix if/when stupid things like window regulators fail.
Think twice before buying another F30
I own a 330i and 220i 2015. I love my 220i as it is stylish, reliable and fuel efficient. In fact I think paying $54,000"for the MSport is not expensive when you compare it to its rivals.
I can't say that I am very happy with my 330i. There are rattling noises inside the cabin and you feel every bump. I have ben to the dealership to fix the connect drive, sos failure. Sure it is a car but you don't expect to deal with such issues if you are paying a lot of money for it.
I,could have been better off purchasing a C class.
I went for F30 as I...
Find out how BMW 3 Series compares to other Cars
Know better, choose better.
Just picked up a 2013 316i very nice ex demo, I had a 320i which was traded in. The new car is a step up from my old car. Very good ride: comfort, good steering, very supportive seats, a well laid out dash and easy to read. Plenty of bells and whistles make this a good buy. Having looked at the competition I must admit I do like BMW.
Solid car great to drive
1996 BMW 323i
Bought it off an 87 year old guy who really did not look after it beyond servicing the motor. It was a one owner. Car was that dark BMW green colour with an ugly brown leather interior. 1996 model. Very fast car, 2.5 litre motor. Inside looks like the interior of a 747 plane but interior on this one was really quite stuffed. Sagging roof, torn leather seats, worn steering wheel and shifter. But to be fair, the old bloke probably never cleaned the inside of the car. But for a one-owner car I would have expected the interior to be in a lot better...condition than it was. I see people on Gumtree trying to sell these for $4000-5000. That's a total joke. You should not have to pay more than $1500 for one of these. They are nearly 20 years old now after all. Very fast car. Great handling, soft ride. Styling very bland and tacky, noisy engine (normal).
I was stupid enough to buy one that had not been looked after at all, but it was cheap, and to get it back close to how it should have been to start with has cost me around $4000. I hated the car immediately after buying it, disappointed in just how much worse it was than my E39 (best car I'v ever owned), but it's grown on me now and I would recommend looking at a mid size euro take a serious look at an E46, just make sure it's been looked after, garaging essential!
1998 328i, feels well built & handles very well, good fuel economy everywhere &...
Overall a bit disappointed with the little things that have gone wrong but I guess I have a high expectation for a vehicle that cost over 100k to drive out the showroom (should last indefinitely ;-)!!! Looks and goes great when its in the mood.
2001 330i with m3 front spoiler, looks awesome, handles great, performs well, great fuel economy for a powerful motor....8.6l/100k combined town/highway.... amazing brakes
interior quality not up to BMW standards, window regulator on passenger front door has failed (common problem), brake dust on the wheels, small boot, small hard to use controls unless you are very familliar with them, no lumbar support on front seats????, has engine management hiccups (due to camshaft position sensor failure)
