Rude customer service manager
Went in this morning for a Tyre repair a slow leak and was met by the rudest lady I have ever met and she is the co owner and at the front desk, I will never go back to this store even though I have bought many tyres from them in the past
Waste of time contacting them for best price guarantee
It was a waste of my time to contact them for the Best Tyre Price Guarantee. Although they advertised it in their website as: "Bob Jane T-Marts' Best Tyre Price Guarantee applies to any cheaper price found on an online store"
I took the time to fill-up the form and get a reply they can offer me a price which is $428 more than the price I provided to them.
Do not waste your time contacting them.
Gladstone branch lied to me to persuade me to buy new tyres
Went to Gladstone Branch with a flat tyre. Has been advised that they are unable to repair it as it is 8 years old and therefore against the law. This is a lie and contradicting to their own website. They tried to keep my old tyre and was very rude. Another dealer confirmed that it is a lie and repaired tyre. Don’t trust them. Very disappointing after we supported them for many years.
unprofessional and unreliable
I got quote to replace all 4 tyres, hour latter I went back to replace. Same staff who quoted me said that he cant do the job for the same price as there was an system error. from $500 it went up to $700?
Obsolete unprofessional and unreliable people.
Took my car to Bob Jane Oakleigh for two new tyres. Thankfully i took photos of all the rims before fitting as they damaged one of them badly during fitting. Manager agreed they did it and told me to go to a specific wheel repair place and pay for the repair and id be reimbursed. Got the rim repaired costing $390. Took the invoice to the manager and it took 3 months for them to pay me only after i went to consumer affairs. Not happy.
Bullying, harassment condoned by all.
Head office ignores communication in regards to wc issues, franchisee encouraged and participate in such actions. A company that puts head in sand from top down in favour of money with no regards to safety.
Tried to Con me
As a teenage girl who doesn’t know much about cars at all, the worker at Bob Jane T-Mart thought I was an easy target to try and con. I have always had continental tyres on my car and was really happy with them, that is until one got popped. With one popped and two needing replaced anyway it seemed smart to get four new tyres. Went to Bob Jane, asked for a quote on the same tyres I had, he said there was a deal on them right now and he would give me a quote. I saw the price and thought GREAT BOOK ME IN! Booked in for new tyres two days later. b...ut upon closer inspection of the quote, it was for Xenon tyres. After researching further (google was my best friend) I find that Xenon tyres are expensive crappy tyres that Bob Jane exclusively sell. Tried to rip me off. Luckily I had read the fine print and cancelled the booking, otherwise I would’ve been out of pocket hundreds of dollars for crappy tyres that don’t work in the rain. AVOID AVOID AVOID
More Than $7,000 Damage To My Vehicle
Went into Bob Jane Alberton store in Adelaide (1st April 2021) for a simple tyre rotation and they returned my vehicle (BMW twin turbo convertible) with over $7,000 damage as quoted by a crash repairer. Prior to being told of the damage, the manager ([Name Removed]) knowing the vehicle had been damaged, waited for me to pay a measly $25 for the simple tyre rotation and when the transaction was completed, he stepped in to inform me of the incident. Obviously no guilt in taking a measly $25 from a long term customer after destroying his vehicle. ...I have told this to more than 50 people and every single person was appalled at the managers action. Says a lot about the person. The excuse given to me at the time was that the young driver's vision was impaired looking through the rear window. The vehicle travelled no more than 3 meters prior to the collision with the other parked vehicle. Based upon the level of damage, speed was the major factor. This was also the opinion of two crash repairers as well as my insurance company. Make your own judgement - view the photos attached! The car is also fitted with a fully functioning sophisticated reversing/parking sensors with graphical display on large screen with audible alarms. There are also side mirrors on the vehicle and if the driver cared to use them would have clearly seen the vehicle he collided with. There was no excuse for this damage to have occurred. It was down to pure negligence and abuse of customer property. They should not have allowed a young driver in a performance vehicle. Bob Jane's view of this incident is that their only obligation is to repair the vehicle through their insurance. They (store manager and customer service manager) are not willing to entertain any form of compensation for my inconvenience - dealing with insurance companies and crash repairers, the distress this has put on my family (had to cancel a short holiday over the Easter break), devaluation of the vehicle and the loss of unused insurance and registration as car will be off the road for at least 2 months. I have requested that Bob Jane supply me a set of tyres out of good will to cover my inconveniences and losses over and above the repair of my vehicle. Their response (knowing that I cannot claim for anything outside the repair of the vehicle) is that they are not interested in any form of good will as this is now in the hands of the insurance company. For a company that sells millions of tyres per year, I didn't think this was too much to ask...but then again...they did take my $25 before telling me they demolished my car. I have tried reasoning with them and given them many opportunities to show good will to no avail. Have yet to receive an apology from Bob Jane Customer service manager ([Name Removed]) even after pointing this out to him. An apology is the very least you would expect from someone in customer service. I guess that is the difference between customer service and customer care. For the sake of ignorance and arrogance on Bob Jane's behalf, this could potentially cost them more than a set of tyres as this matter will now escalate.
I had been going to the Bob Jane Doncaster for over 10 years and live within a km from it.
It seems, it has changed the manager recently and did not see many old work force.
on 19th April, 2021, I dropped off my BMWX1 for wheel rotation, Balance & alignment all routine.
This car had new 4 tyres by the same place in 2019 and since traveled only 5 thousand KM and I am the only driver.
I noticed a new front desk person as I dropped off my car on 19th April, before 9 am.
Before I dropped off the car, I had a visual check of all 4 tyres and the ...front and back looked fine and the same. In retrospect I think, I should have taken few snaps of tyres before asking them to do the normal wheel jobs. The new desk man rang me within 1.5 hours, reporting the car needs two rear wheel tyres changed and his claim was--- left rear tow-in was 20mm out. I told him, it was all done by them as I got new tyres in 2019, since it has done only 5 thousand KM. He did give me some unacceptable reasons, to that effect I showed him the service Invoice of BMW Servicing of 2020 and they did not work on the alignment system at all.
Booked in to get two tyres changed at Browns plains store.male receptionist was rude and passively aggressive.it took over an hour for the vehicle to even get moved from the car park to the service area.(1 other job was in the 4 bay workshop).where it sat for another hour untouched while the supposed workers every now and then glanced into the waiting room snickering.i was actually embarrassed that a business could be run this poorly.after two and a half hours of waiting I was told I could load my own old tyres onto the back of my ute.no apolog...y was offered as to the absolute waste of my time at all..I have used this business many times over the last 10 years when different staff were running it but will never go there again..how it is even still functional is beyond me.as a business owner myself I would be absolutely disgusted by the way they treat customers
Full of craps and salesman lies - Bob Jane Kwinana WA
Bought 4 new tyres from Bob Jane Kwinana for my Mercedes C200 Compressor. Alignment guy did a good job and drive straight. Nice and polite guy too.
But after sales services were pitiful and terrible! Barely 2 days after the new tyres fitted, sound came from front right wheel. Went back BJ Kwinana asking to rotate the tyres and check what's going on. The guy at store name [Name Removed] (something like that or [Name Removed]) insisted that mechanic took the tyres out and screwed it back, where in actual fact it wasn't done. As I was beside the ...mechanic the whole time. Asked to lift the car up to see undercarriage if any loose cowling/covers (Mercedes has cowlings underneath the car) not tightened. Ignored my request and tried selling me that it was wheel-bearing issue. They only tightened the screws as the mechanic confirmed earlier after tyres changed, the screws were not tightened enough. Noise reduces after such screws tightening. Went back again the next day asking to rotate the tyres left to right and alignment again (as suggested by a license Mercedes mechanic the night before). Told this fella [Name Removed] I will pay for the fees - again gave me crappy answers. Did not bother to even jack the car up to look undercarriage nor bother to rotate the tyre despite me wiling to pay for it. Insisted and tried selling me it's the issue of wheel-bearing again. Told me he has Diploma in Auto-Motor...... In a nutshell, he is preventing to take responsibility for the issue! I will definitely complain to the WA Consumer Tribunal in this matter. I went to Mercedes mechanic directly, and immediately they said the issue was because the wheel was not fixed properly resulting in the sound!!! Lousy and full of craps Bob Jane Kwinana. NOT TO EVER visit Bob Janes Kwinana again.
Rang them for a quote on new tyres, spoke to a very polite salesperson who said he would do the same price as last time .. then when I rang back to book in I had a really hard time (with a different person) to get the same deal (abt $15 off full price)
He may have been the manager as he complained about overheads etc
2nd call was one of the worst sales experiences I've had
I was a long standing customer
Avoid avoid avoid
Avoid avoid avoid!!!
Rude customer service! Contradictory responses, only interested in avoiding and deflecting blame to get out of it as cheaply as they can. Not interested in doing the right thing at all and own their responsibilities. Don't waste your time emailing or contacting the customer service center... No call backs despite promises, you'll just chase them for ever.
Came in to get 4 tyres fitted with 4 pristine rims... Left with 3 rims damaged by the tyre levers. Followed by what I suspect is a falsified job card telling me my wheels...
I found tyres for 179/ea everything included at Mycar. I requested they offer me 178 *4 + fitting fee.
They don't beat price as they advertise in their web site. And do not communicate to customers as well. Very bad. Won't go there any more
They always screw me over
In the past they advised buying 5 mags it would cost the same but that wasn't the case.
Another time they pit 17 inch wheels on my corolla and told me they didn't scrape... well they did amd needed replacing.
3rd strike they've now they've put two new tyres on my Mazda and balanced it incorrectly so it shakes.
Everytime they take no responsibility.
I will never waste my money again
Questions & Answers
Do you do after pay
Does Bob Jane have an official policy regarding the way wheel nuts must be tightened, or is this left to the discretion of each franchise or individual mechanics? In particular, are mechanics allowed to just use impact wrenches and estimate the required torque, or do they use torque limiting extensions (torque sticks), or do they do the final tightening by hand using a torque wrench?
Bob Jane T-Marts do have a procedure to correctly tension wheel nuts/studs. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss further.
I emailed email@example.com several days ago, but am still waiting on a reply. In the mean time I have done some more web searching, and I found one discussion on Whirlpool where someone mentioned that Bob Jane required the final tighten to be done with a torque wrench, with instant dismissal for anybody caught not complying. Unfortunately in the same thread someone else commented that if this were the case then that would mean the entire workshop staff would be gone at his local Bob Jane! See https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2757100#r57546014 for the thread. So maybe I need to know not only what the official policy is, but also whether or not the policy is actually followed!
I finally got a reply. Bob Jane does not have any official policy, but they do have an internal document that is used for training purposes. The reply didn't say what procedure they recommend in this document. So I still don't know either what procedure Bob Jane train their staff to use, or how widely their staff follow this procedure once they have completed their training, but I do at least know that a training document exists!
Since what really matters is what my local Bob Jane staff actually do my next step is probably to chase this up with my local franchise. Sorry to have wasted everyone's time here...
How old are the tyres you sell allowed to be?
We bought tyres in July 2019 they have now travelled 700km and we got knocked back on rego inspection today because they were manufactured in 2015 and the mechanic says they have cracks between the tread.
Manufacturers give a warranty of 5 years after manufacture date and we do not repair tyres over 8 years old. If you have recently bought the tyres as you said, please contact your local Bob Jane so we can inspect your tyres. If they are indeed faulty, we will make sure to get you back on the road safely and have the manufacturer pick up this tyre.
Also, feel free to send this to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will look into this issue further for you.
