Poorly designed product. Avoid.
I called Bosch customer support when my PEX 270A had the problem of throwing pads. They were not very helpful and suggested I contact customer support via email, so I wrote them the following email:
My PEX 270A orbital sander will not keep sanding discs adhered to the velcro. After a little bit of research I discovered that this is a common problem with this series of Bosch sanders which implies improper design of the material that is used to keep the discs in place.

Squealing, rubbish bearings
Some years ago I purchased 3 new pex270s for fairing a fibreglass boat hull....epoxy filler and highbuild. All 3 were throwing pads after less than 5 hours use (Not continuous use..4 machines in total between 2workers). I purchased decent aftermarket pads, cut them down and cut the holes. Problem fixed. However, within about 10 to 12 hours use , the armature Bearings failed on all 3 machines ...excessive squealing and no power. I have all 3 for Bosch to inspect or take back if they want some good pr for a change. I stripped them down , blew th...em out, and added lubricant which temporarily fixed them, but was difficult ( sealed bearings) wasting a lot of down-time. So I bought 3 cheap Ozitos to do the job instead, which performed perfectly and i am still using to this day.
