Sparkling clean finish on dishes
4-star energy rating and 5-star water rating
Doesn't always dry dishes properly
I had an LG prior to this which I had bought for around 900 dollars. Worked really well in cleaning and drying. 7 years later due to our own foolishness the water pump got slushed. To replace the LG, went and bought this Dishwasher. From day 1 it was not great as the previous. We were disappointed. LG had a 50 minutes quick cycle that cleaned thoroughly and dried all the utensils including plastics. Bosch I leave overnight and the utensils are not dry and not throughly cleansed. The slight smell from the water staying in is also a problem. The ...quick cycle never properly cleans. I can put it on other cycles that are from close to 2 hours and up and still cleaning is not great. I think there is something wrong in the interior design that is causing this. I am not sure what exactly. Sucks a lot of energy and uses a lot of water and still results are below average. The touch bar at the top is so poorly designed, it recognises not when you tap it rather when you take away your finger. Also it takes several taps at times to recognise the touch. Now that I think about it which is the most soily cuisine, German or South Korean? S.Korean of course. No wonder the LG dishwasher was better, I take it that it is designed to be powerful to clean oily, saucy, greasy soiled plates and utensils. I have only used LG prior to this hence referring LG, I have not had a chance on any other S. Korean brands.

It’s ok, but my Asko was better
I bought this after reading how amazing it is- but have to say, not very impressed. Consistently leaves items unwashed- even when there is only half a load. Really disappointed as it cost a lot. I should just kept my old Asko. The other problem is everything is constantly wet when the cycle is finished.
One good thing, it is quiet. I am going to contact Bosch separately.

Expensive, and somewhat disappointing.
(Update/edit follows at the end)
Our very trusty 18+ year old Whirlpool dishwasher started playing up so it was time to consider a replacement. (I know that with appliances as old as that, it’s usually folly to spend money repairing them, even IF you can get the parts, and in any event we had significant rust in the slide out racks.)
We didn’t intend spending a fortune but were talked in to a Bosch series 8 for a number of reasons, and thought we would give it a go. Features which particularly attracted my wife and me included low...

Proud owner of 2 of these, this is how we do it!
I bought both second hand, one for $1000 which was supposed to be A1 condition but after several months use has "Communication Error, please switch appliance off/then on. Otherwise call service"
Well in New Zealand, the bosch service agent in Auckland ABEL APPLIANCES are a tad expensive. So I have another one, same model I got for $25 of TradeMe as it was causing old owner no end of issues with no water fault. That was resolved with a new water sensor on RH side of tank. HOWEVER I also own 2x SMS68M08AU's my Mother bought a brand new SMUxxx...

Reasonable-ish Cleaning and Drying Performance, Lots of Features and Quiet!
Dishwasher itself like most dishwashers doesn't clean amazingly, even using Finish Quantum on the 45-65 degree auto cycle doesn't get stains out of our dishes sometimes and the stains are fresh and not burnt on however this is an occasional occurrence and dishwasher generally cleans okay, drying performance of dishwasher is sub par with dishes sometimes coming out wet after a cycle, despite having a rinse aid dispenser level of 6. The machine has a slew of desirable features including a Half Load option, Vario speed to complete a cycle quicker ...and extra dry as well as sanitisation options, machine is also very quiet which makes it ideal to operate at night. I can recommend this machine to people who need day to day general cleaning needs and to people who cook but not extensively. I would have to possibly recommend going for a more higher end appliance of likes of something Like Miele as the build quality and performance will be slightly better, overall the machine is reasonable enough for me and probably for anyone other person.

Average. Go back to drawing board Bosch.
I find the dishwasher only OK. It cleans well but only average on the drying department. Plastics as usual have to be manually dried afterwoods. The biggist issue to me is the racks. Who designed these. On the first day clips went flying that hold some of it together. Some already lost. The top cutery tray I like.
The next rack for the cups is not designed for mugs or cups. Can only fit half what old dishwasher could.
The bottom rack for plates and pans is a shocker. There is gaps that bowls falls through. Clips that hold places for plates come undone and plates fall over.
Touch buttons have to be pressed hard on door to choose cycle.
good. but very annoying with E24.
this is the first washing machine I ever owned. it works well. clean and dry the dishes well. I was quite happy with it until keep having E24 now. apparently from other review site, E24 is very common. but it is the pain every time needs to restart and clear the drain.
Good and bad
We've had this Bosch dishwasher for around 12 months. We've got a Bosch fridge and a Bosch stove both of which we are really happy with, so we thought the Bosch dishwasher would be a winner. Well, the dishwasher is OK, but it has its problems. My overall opinion about it is that they've tried to be too clever by half. They've got a number of fancy design 'features' that to me are just plain annoying. These include collapsible racks that collapse when they're not supposed to, an annoyingly shaped second drawer that prevents you from fully utilisi...ng it because of the way the base is shaped, a soap release that gets stuck if you're not absolutely assiduous in keeping plates etc away from the front of the drawer, and switches that turn on only when they feel like it - on occasions I've pressed the Start button up to 10 times before I can get a response out of the thing. I've felt many times that this machine was designed by the apprentice who's produced a good theoretical design, but with an impractical outcome. Having said all that, when you get it running, it's very quiet and does a good job. It has a range of washes to choose from, all of which seem to work well. I also like the cutlery drawer, even though I never had any problems with the cutlery basket we used with our old dishwasher. I would say, however, that the Bosch's operation is really no better than the 20 year-old Vulcan it replaced. On top of that, I used to be able to really fill the Vulcan up - I can't do that with this one because of the frustrating design of the racks and the awkward shape of the base of the second drawer.

Not terribly happy with it
We bought this dishwasher approximately 12 months ago. We did not install it for four months, so effectively we have used it less than a year. It doesn't get used that often as there are only the two of us living in the house. We thought we took a lot of consideration into our choice of dishwasher, but in hindsight we feel we should have looked further at how we felt about the top cutlery drawer as neither of us really like it and it has made for a little less space in the racks below. It is really super quiet, I have to check sometimes tha...t I did in fact turn it on, and as long as you use rinse aid the drying aspect is fine. We have had a problem with the machine, however, with rust. There are six spots over the "stainless" face of the machine that started going rusty, and then this impacted on the rubber seals. Wiping does not remove it. They have grown larger over time and darker stains, and appear to be originating from underneath where there would be screws (perhaps not stainless screws were used?) Anyway, we contacted customer service and after sending photos and having the machine inspected, it was referred to their Resolution Department and after two months of hearing nothing we are finally advised that the whole machine is going to be replaced rather than just the front door and seals. Hopefully when we receive the replacement machine we don't have a similar issue.
Ok, had to take cutlery tray out to get better results
Our Techknika dishwasher that came with our Metricon built home had a fault so we decided to buy a new dishwasher rather than spend money fixing, we are subscribers to choice Magazine and we bought the Bosch SMS88TI01A as seemed to have a good revie. It has washed no where near as well as the old cheap machine, stains left in coffee cups etc, we eventually removed the cutlery slide out tray which has given better results but disappointing when we paid a lot of money for this machine and the cutlery tray was one of the features we liked.
Has had no faults though so reliable so far just not the cleaning job we expected from a more expensive machine
Error Code E18
Has been going great for 5 months then strating having an error code E18 water supply fault. Check the water supply and is fine and problem continued intermittently then got to a stage where error code stays on and diswasher won't function because of the error. Service tech came out replaced something small and left. Problem remained. Phoned them back only to be told they will need to take it away to monitor. I don't think they know what they're doing as the inlet hose has a sensor in it and I reckon it's faulty and the hose needs replacing. I am one of the unlucky ones that paid over 2k for it and are not happy with what is happening.
Its OK, but not up to expectations
I have had this dishwasher for several weeks now and have the following observations:
* Drying is poor and uneven across the shelves
* Need to use the Extra Dry setting to even get mediocre drying
* Horizontal cutlery tray is not as good as the vertical basket type (cutlery comes out wet in places)
This machine replaced our 10 year old Whirlpool which died peacefully a few months back, but which served us well and was excellent at the job. I really expected as good a job with this one but I could have gotten the same result from a machine at half the cost. It certainly is quiet and cleans the dishes well, but I need my tea towel at hand when emptying it!
