Average
I'd give this product an average. It isn't amazing but it's not bad either. Installing a built in dishwasher is extra work than a freestanding, also without the casing, cockroaches are possibly happier around it.
Otherwise it cleans well, is fairly quiet and doesn't smell. I'd love a timer for an idea on when it's finished, and the basic setting doesn't dry plastic well but the hotter setting does. Cleaning the drain is very user friendly!
I'm hoping it lasts a long time and that's what would impress me the most! The rest is just small matters.

Simple operation, good basic dishwasher
This is a basic dishwasher without any fancy functions. We bought it to match all the other Bosch appliances, and the price was reasonable for a German made. It is all stainless steel and the racks are collapsible so you can put big pots and pans. If you put bulky items in it, it does tend to leave a lot of wetness. Not so good for drying if the Short cycle is used. We found that if your use the top range of Finish dishwashing tablet (quantum?) and use the regular cycle, it cleans well and dry well. Reasonable quiet operation. We've had it for 5 years now, still working fine.

Buy Tea Towels .... You're Going to Need Them
There are some impressive features - first is the internal capacity and size that allows it to be used for over-sized items that traditionally won't fit in a dishwasher and it is super quiet. But, that is when it works. If the 'check water' indicator should comes on (apparently a common fault) then don't even bother trouble shooting just report the fault immediately.
I made the mistake of getting the installing plumber back thinking that would be faster but was I wrong. That took a week, then when he couldn't fix the problem I had to wait another week to get the Bosch technician. Soon after he arrives he informs me the control panel needs to be replaced - now for the inexperienced, this is the most common fault with dishwashers. However, Bosch outsource their warranty work to a third party (even in Sydney) but doesn't require them to carry stock of spare parts.
Now,you would think they would at least require them to carry stock of control panels even if they were on consignment to avoid burdening them with inventory costs .... but no. So, it takes another week for the technician to finally return.
He replaces the part and we celebrate the fact the dishwasher is working again with a grand meal. However, the joy is short-lived. When I go to unpack the dishwasher I soon discover he didn't bother to check that it was secured under the bench before leaving and with the door open and both trays extended it falls forward and most of the contents then crash to the floor.
It's now three months later and the 'check water' light is back on. It's Saturday night and we are back washing and drying dishes by hand. The Bosch technician is scheduled to be here on Tuesday and I can hardly wait.
It's hard to say what it worse - the dishwasher or the after-sales service.
You would think both would be a damn sight better when you spend $900 for a dishwasher and almost the same to have it installed.

Bosch - SMU50E75AU - serious problems only 3 years old
Hello all,
We bought extended warranty for this dishwasher through Bing-Lee. We were told today that they refuse to fix it and would instead return our money. Problem is that we will not be able to buy the equivalent dishwasher now with the same money.
Very disappointment and this is the second time it has been repaired
