I have been using this for over a year , when it works its great but very hard to clean .I was using the air fryer and my son smelt smoke i went into the kitchen to find it was on fire with smoke pouring out of the back. I have been in contact about a refund and was asked to send proof of purchase and photos , i have done this but as yet no response that was 2 months ago

Worst appliance I have ever bought
The air fryer is impossible to clean it has a sticky substance on the bottom which won’t come off it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months but is only a few weeks old

This pocket rocket is awesome
Just bought this little unit and have tried out a few functions already. So far so good. Its easy to set up and use with a pre set buttons for most things. We tried out the chip mesh tray and it was great. Chips were crispy but not too dry and nice that they weren't oily. Chicken strip's were also delicious in the air fryer. Crispy on the outside and juicy and moist inside. I will update more functions as I use them.

I use it so much more than expected.
I originally bought this to act as a "sort of" proofing oven but find myself using it often for many other things. I love the air-fryer for potato wedges - thanks for nothing Breville - but it toasts gluten free bread really well, grills very gently, and even fits my 26cm casserole pot. It's an excellent addition to my kitchen freeing up space in the built in 90cm oven for larger items and also quicker to heat for smaller jobs

part of the oven peeling
Purchased on April 27, 2020 and used almost daily. We liked it until today (June 10) It started to smoke and smelled like rubber or electrical burning. Paint is peeling off the outside, close to the controls. We are taking it back. I don't want aerosolized toxins in our food.

It does not have thorough explanations of using each program. Very basic, have no idea how to cook a roast in it. When i follow instructions it takes much longer to air fry than i want. Its taken me 40 minutes to air fry calamari after heating oven. Wouldnt recommend this product

Pizza in 10 minute's!
I love fried food. I can cook fresh home made pizza in 10 minutes, frozen fries come out crispy, cheesy garlic bread is a breeze! I love all of the functions this little oven has and it's the perfect counter top oven for those smaller meals.

It's a Cracka!
Since switching on this oven for the first time, I haven't needed to use my regular oven. And that's awesome because the Breville heats up faster, distributes heat better and utilises settings that make preparing food so simple.
For instance: say you want to toast something. Dial it to 'TOAST', put the rack in the 'TOAST' position, press 'START' and you'll get great results. It just works every time.
Toasted chicken and cheese sandwich? Perfect.
Roasted potatoes? Perfect.
Pork ribs? Perfect.
Air fried chips? Not perfect - 8.5/10.
Air fried crumbed prawn cutlets? Perfect....

It's Not Just Smart... It's Brilliant!
I was more than sceptical, thinking it would never live up to the promises made on the Breville product video. How could a standalone appliance of that size possibly be a serious contender to the new Bosch oven I had recently purchased for 3 times the price?
Well, I’ve had to eat my words. Don’t let appearances fool you, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fry is not just smart; it’s bloody brilliant. The marketing blurb from Breville refers to an ELEMENT iQ SYSTEM with smart algorithms that direct power and heat depending on the function selected – t...o be honest I don’t understand any of it but whatever they’ve done – it really works. With 10 cooking functions, it’s the most versatile appliance I’ve ever used and I’ve used it to grill vegetables, bake a cake, roast a large chicken with vegetables for 4, cook a pizza and I’ve even used the airfry function with my own fried chicken recipe along with chips. All with perfect results. It’s simple to use, easy to clean and the pre-heat function takes the guess work out of cooking a meal so your free to do other things; confident of the necessary cooking time. It comes with all the accessories you need, although I do recommend buying the cutting board designed to go on the top. If your kitchen is like mine, bench top space is in short supply and the cutting board is a practical and clever solution to the challenge of adding a new kitchen appliance.

Questions & Answers
Can foil be placed over meat when roasting
no, not to try foil in oven
Can I spray chips from the super market in Australia with small amount of oil to air fry them
If it is not in the manual just ring and ask service number
Can I use baking paper to line the air fryer basket in the Breville 860 smart oven to minimise drip onto the elements which are apparently difficult to clean? If the extra airfryer baskets become available in NZ again, can I successfully use 2 at once with the air fry function? Like many other members, I obviously would have preferred to purchase the larger 900 model. Can’t understand why Breville could not offer it to their AU/NZ customers. We don’t have smaller families than in the US!
