My Xmas present to myself - the cook EVERYTHING
A sandwich press.... no should be called a cook everything! Bacon and eggs, Sausages, Hamburgers, Chicken breasts, Steak, Sandwiches, and lots more. I love all the things you can do in this press, it is a very versatile product that feels nice and solid and is real stainless steel and matches my other breville products. I bought the product from Myer on Boxing day with my xmas vouchers.
real SS, so versatile, easy to clean
Most versatile sandwich/panini/toast maker
Lets get firsts things first the is product is the most easy to use and at the same time most versatile I have used. The things u can do with this little gem are only limited to ur genius(and of course some technical specifications). But seriously let me just sum some of the good stuff about this product
Can make sandwiches( duh)
Can make some of the most beautiful textured toast(crisp or light according to ur liking)
Can heat up previously made sandwiches, toasts, paninis, flatbreads the list will go trust me
Can used to grill soft/ lighter...
Makes awesome from ordinary sandwiches...
I have been kept happy from this machine for the last few years - it makes bread / ham / tomato / onion and cheese sandwiches into a awesome tasting lunch in next to no time! Its a simple machine to use and I usually make the sandwiches on the machine itself - basically apply the guts onto the bread and then finish it off then toast it for a few minutes till golden brown. This machine does not make toasties with sealed sides - nor does this machine make toasted sandwiches that are too hot to wolf down. I have found that the sandwiches are a gre...at temperature to both hold and eat straight away. There is a lever on the right to give the user a predefined levels - this allows the lid to be kept at a determined height to stop it from squashing whatever is under it - otherwise it can be left to sit at its own weight to cook whatever is under it. This machine does not have a fat run off schute, if you do cook something and it does leak it will pool around the bottom plate and will not drain off anywhere - so keep an eye on it and some kitchen paper towels handy. Other than that - this Breville is a solid performer and has lasted the test of time and done its fair share of work making some of the best toasted sangers I have put my lips around! Easy to clean - store and maintain, well presented in kitchen, no issues to date. remains warm for a long time after use - leave to air cool before storing.
Cafe-style lunches at home!
I'd accrued a load of Qantas points and decided to treat myself. Now I would be lost without my Breville. I don't like the triangle toastie makers because I don't like double-buttering, and I prefer wraps. With this sandwich press, you don't have to butter the outside of the bread/wrap, and you can pop any kind of bread/wrap/tortilla in there.
I know this isn't Masterchef, but to prove my point about its versatility, I made a wrap with apple slices and cinnamon, and it came out like a little strudel. Add a dash of cream, and you've got a lov...ely dessert in 5 minutes. I use this every day, and haven't had any faults or scratches in the 8 months I've had it. UPDATE - it's now April 2017 and I've had this sandwich press over 5 years. I use it in the morning to toast banana bread/waffles and on weekends for toasties, so it has had a fair amount of use. The non-stick still looks like new and I've never had a problem. We also have the same appliance at work, which gets a real hammering. It's been in service for over 2 years and also looks like new. Highly recommended. Non-stick, easy to use, versatile
Awesome Machine and Excellent Customer Service
Had this appliance just over a year and worked it to death.
Thermal fuse went on it 3 weeks after warranty ran out.
Even though I didn't send in the warranty form (I told them the truth about us being big Breville fans)they arranged me to take to their service agents for examination are their own expense.
Had to wait about 3 weeks then was presented with a brand new unit:)
All our kitchen small appliances are Breville and they are unbeatable, definitely worth the extra few dollars over the rubbish.
Reliable, easy to clean, multi purpose etc etc......
Maybe the Service Agents could have had a bit more drive!
Great and Easy to use
Got this via flybuys and have had no problem with it since. It is easy to store as it stands vertically in the cupboard.
It cooks 4 sandwiches at once so is very efficient if you are doing a few at a time. Unlike jaffle makers there is no need to butter the outside of the bread. It is also great for toasting wraps.
Easy to use and Wipes clean
This toaster is a brand name damager for Breville
First one lasted 3 months, the replacement 1 week, the next replacement one we then had for 4yrs. The first yr was reasonably good (nothing like the taosting quality of the pro 800 i have now. The Ikon toaster was always random toasting quality to the point now where it only does one side. Previous to this my Breville appliances had always been reliable. The first Ikon must've been an experiment out of a new factory.
Time left toasting indicator, stainless apperance
toasted uneven, grills seem to far apart allowing toast to get caught (and burnt) when ejecting, lever does'nt always engage and stay down.
I got this through my Flybuys points and have not regretted it. It gets used daily and still looks brand new thanks to the easy clean coating, can be adjusted easily for the type of usage and has a handy 'ready' indicator - no more guessing that the plates are actually hot enough! It looks good and is easy to find room for in the cupboard. I like the fact that you can fit 4 servings at a time so you only need to use it once (or twice if you have a large family like mine).
The ease of use, non stick plates are a dream to clean up, the adjustable top plate for either toasties or melts.
