excellent tyre if used properly
first set i had was the standard 697- got 60k out of them, second set i got 110k, but were the LT version. firstly read your car tyre placard. If increasing rim size dont go more then 1 size up from manufacture.. ie if car comes on 16inch dont go more than 17inch.
all of my driving was done in the northern territory, so mud sand bull dust on so on..about 50/50 split between off road and bitumen. during in and after torrential rains.
biggest thing i learned was read car tyre placard and dont exceed manufacturers PSI recommendations. regard...less of bridge stones 40psi recomendation. why better grip better handling, never had to air down on sand. my mate had the same tyres running 40psi, stuck every time. great tyre, but like anything you have to learn how to use it to get the full benefit from it
A Great All-rounder and reasonably priced! Make sure you buy the LT version
These 265/65R17 LT replaced 4 year old Cooper AT3 on the Triton. Straight away you can feel the difference. Noise is almost unnoticeable, grip significantly improved, especially on wet. I no longer have to turn on 4wd mode in rain and the wobbly Triton hardly slip again at T-section take off.
Been to beach, bush trails and loosing hill climbs the tyres performs exceptionally. Remains un-scraped on side-sill damaging terrains. I am very pleased I insisted to get a set of LT tyres instead of Passenger version most people did. The LT versions...are made tougher and more resistant to puncher/heavy loads for a fraction of more money. Enough say most highly rated reviews on this website are from LT owners and lower ratings from P versions. Haven't been on rock or mud but I don't reckon any A/T will be a lot better on these terrains. Have only traveled few thousand kms so too early to tell the wearing. I would expect some 2-3 years of decent performing tread-wear (about 50k to my average travelling) from any AT tyres. Once they wear over 2/3 of their tread life they may become hard and slippery and the remaining tread-wear becomes meaningless.
Dueler LT 265 65 17.
These tyres replaced OEM highway pattern Dueler 840s. Original tyres were OK and experienced no issues with them but decided to upgrade to a Light Truck rated tyre to better cope with unsealed roads. We have just completed a 7000 k round trip from Townsville to Alice Spings travelling via the Sandover highway on the way over and return via the Plenty and Donohue Highways. Did Mereenie Loop, Palm Valley and some other 4WD drive tracks and could not be happier with them. I notice some have stated they find road noise to be an issue but I have fou...nd them to be no worse than the standard highway tyre with equal to or maybe even an increased levels of on highway grip. The only real downside has been around a 10% increase in fuel consumption which was not unexpected as a LT AT tyre will always have a greater rolling resistance . Would gladly fit the same again as service from the local Bridgestone dealer here in Townsville [Garbutt] has also been excellent as well.
Excellent quality tyre
i had these fitted to my brand new Holden Colorado 7 to get away from the standard highway tread they come with, we've done 1870klms since they've been fitted on combination of highway and off-road environment, I have encountered any tyre noise that others on here speak of nor and bad slippage on the highway work, they make no more noise then the Bridgestone dueller HT that we removed, they perform great on loose gravel and sand, not so great in the mud though but at the end of the day there not mud terrain tyres. I'm starting to think that all the problems others have experienced are more vehicle specific than tyre specific as I can't fault them.
like driving on ice
what a woefull tyre horrid in the wet below par off road they scallop even though l am running recomended pressure 40psi by bridgestone rotating every 5000kms have only done 20,000 kms they are 3/4 worn Bridgestone my advice to you dont waste your money they only make brillant passenger car tyres and Truck tyres but as for 4x4 forget it they are absolute rubbish NEVER AGAIN.
I have purchased 2 on recommendation from Bridgestone due to extra thick thread and it's doing great mileage so far. I do mostly on road so tyres feel soft against bitumen. I expect some noise from it because it is an off road tyre so no complaints there compared to other off road tyres. It's done about 12,000kms and thread is about 75% left so that's pretty good. The Kluger is a full size suv and we carry our kids and their friends everywhere so it carries a lot of weight around. I have the tyres rotated as part of the vehicle service so it doesn't cost me anything extra. Overall I'm very happy with them and is considering purchasing another 2 as the originals (Dunlop St30) on the rear are getting to the end of their life.
After much research I decided replace my highway tyres with the A/T 697s. I have only been off road a few times with them but I have found them sure footed both over rocks and wet trails. I feel happier over rocks with these being LTs and very happy with the low noise on motorways. All I can say is........... I'm glad I did my research.
Soft comfy and grips really well BUT...
As it wears down it is NOISY AS HELL! if we talk about grips in wet and dry it is pretty good. Very soft rubber makes the ride more comfy too.
But he noise it generates as it wears down is down right HORRIBLE!!!
Noise unbearable and worrying
I am so glad to have read the review above, with regard to the noise. The noise has been driving me mad also. I have gone through the same thoughts and actions as the reviewer on 7 January 2015. My anxiety levels whilst on a long trip, without support during towns, was very worrisome. Though I only need two new tyres, I will change all now (to a new brand), just to relieve the anxiety associated with the noise.
About to buy my 3 set of A/T D697LTs
I do about 60%road, 30% sand and 10% in the bush. I don't find them noisy at all and my first set lasted 101000ks and the set on now is about to tick over 90000ks. They are still about 1mm off the wear bar so I could still get more ks out of them but we are looking at heading south fishing and I want the new ones on before we tack off. I rotate them every 10000ks and re balance them every 40000ks. Tyre pressure is also the key to longer lasting tyres.
Dmax on LT255-65-R17
Stock tyre size, but I wanted the LT construction. Done 25K on them so far, serious off road a couple of times, lots of gravel tracks and towing as well. No mud tyre, but honest off road in the bogs, just pick your lines! Wear has been great, noise is non existent, bitumen is same as stock HT's but better in wet. Looking at 80+k out of these boots. Happy days, will buy again.
I have done 35000 kms will be lucky to get 45000 out of them. Not to bad offroad but for the price I expect more k's. My old man had the same problem new tyres after about 48000.
I had the previous a/t's and they were great, this new model have been huge disappointment, won't be buying again. And yes I always had them rotated and balance with wheel alignment.
not to bad off road.
wear way to fast for the price.
Bridgestone A/T 265 65 17
needed new tyres on Prado while in Rockhampton and opted for B/S AT 697 265 65 17 great service @ Bridgestone Dealer had Original Dunlop 120 A/T which had travelled 90.000 . Bridgestone better tyre and cheaper than the same size Dunlops.
No road noise and hold road great on or off the tar in wet or dry.Very stable with van on back. Currently have travelled 15.000klms no sign of wear and the benefit is that all tyre rotations and balances @ Bridgestone Tyre Centres are free. Recommend them.
The service I received at Bridgestone Centre in Rockhampton
great tyre heaps of tread
Put these on my Xtrail after having the original ht's. Man what a difference. Had four punctures on the old set of ht's just way to soft for a car that heavy these are great higher load rating doesn't make the ride any rougher which one tyre man said during my research. Well done Bridgestone you nailed it.
heaps of bite. noisy
nothing yet. Will keep you posted
Early days but pleased so far
I've just put 4 Bridgestone D697 LT tyres on the Pajero and am pleased with the initial drive. I only did 200klms on the road but the previous road noise was absent and they have lived up to this aspect so far. Also noted that the tyre came with a blue indicator paint line on the tyre circumfrence (possibly put on in production to indicate it was a new tyre) and after this drice it was still evident therefore showing that they may be as hard wearing as their promotional material makes them out to be.
We had to put on the light truck tyre as ...
I was choosing between the coopers and these and went with these for my 2006 Prado based on cooper reviews. I have crossed the nullarbor and all up driven 15000 km so far ( all on road ) and are very happy with them.
These tyres are quiet and smooth and appear to be wearing very well.
I would recommend these to anyone.
Update; after 80,000 ish k's I have replaced these tyres. So happy with them I just replaced with same and again I am happy as a pig in proverbial. They did get a tad noisy after 60/70 thousand, but I won't hold that against them!! Great tyre
Nothing at all
Toyota Hilux 265/65R17 A/T Tyres - Australian Designed A/T tyres for Australian Conditions
Ok I will start this review as saying I did not think I would purchase Bridgestone Tyres – plus after owning Michelin LTX A/T and them going 135,000klm!
Why! Well after extensive research and the fact I decided to step up in size to 265/65R17 to a tyre size that was available almost everywhere due to the fact almost all new dual cabs are fitted with this size – but unfortunately Michelin in this size is far too car like.
I settled on the D697 because it was designed for Australian conditions and the Aussie Dual cab Ute. Plus Bridgestone ...has assured the market it has designed longer tread life into this new tyre. Results after 10,000klms including wet greasy bitumen roads and heavy rain muddy clay mountain tracks in Eden NSW – then 40 degree days pounding the roads out and around Broken Hill. Wear results – amazing (More like I was relived!)
I put these D697's on my 90 Series Prado about 10,000k ago. They have been great. Quiet on road, excellent grip. Being a road based tyre I didn't expect them to be exceptional off road, however they have surprised me. Never had any issues with punctures or sidewalls, and they have more grip than I expected off road. Obviously they don't have the grip of a MT, but they are a happy medium.
Reliable, quiet, good all rounder
Reasonably expensive. Based on wear so far, I think I'll be lucky to get 40-50k out of them. Far from the 80k that coopers and BFG's claim to get.
I looked hard and long at all sorts from Pirelli Scorpion through wrangler tyres and compared everything with everything. It seemed like no one had any info for the the 200 series landcruisers. So yeah looked into it and found that these bad boys were not that bad at $372 ea fitted balanced etc etc. Quiet, strong hold, sounds like the kms are great. Went for it - happy as. I have a work ute, and my wife drives the 200 mostly - she is stoked so yep - happy wife, happy life..
Quiet, strong hold, pattern, subtle appearance
Nothing...I dont believe in sacrificing price having said that - $372 for a 285/65R17 is pretty good in my book...
Sensational tyre at an affordable price.
Bought a pair of the d697's on 16" steel Sunraysia rims and Tough Dog suspension and I have to say I am very impressed with their handling and performance on the tar. Very quiet tyre and very grippy. Heaps of tread and a bit of body roll, but that's to be expected in a 2.2 tonne 4WD. I'm yet to take them offroad, but going by customer reviews I think they'll go ok. I have no hesitation in recommending this tyre to anyone who wants a great safe AT tyre that spends 90% of the time on tar. Highly recommended.
Ride comfort, quiet, inexpensive, heaps of tread.
697 LT on Discovery 3
First put the 17" 694LT's on my Disco 3 a couple of years ago as I changed to 17" offroad rims. Did 60000kms incl 25000kms offroad incl. capeyork. Not a single puncture and no chips or sidewall damage. Really good on road and very quiet with great grip in the wet. Changed them out at about the 60000km mark as still good for bitumen but not for offroad. Replaced with new 697LT and these were also great and even quieter. Traded Disco 3 for Disco 4 and first thing going on is the 697LT's. They are a compromise between a road tyre and a mud tyre bu...t limited choice with the Landrovers due to their stupid brake design limiting wheel size to minimum 18". Had the BFG AT's on previous trucks and the duellers leave them for dead in everyway! No I don't work for Bridgestone they ate simply the best AT tyre out there. Quiet, grip in the wet Pricey? I guess you get what you pay for
