The above link compares the safety scores of car seats. Further information can be found in the following link under "2019-2020 test results" and "convertible (rear facing 0-2.5 yrs + 9m-4 years)".

https://www.childcarseats.com.au/find-and-compare-child-car-seats#/results/0,1,2,3/0,1,2/-/-

According to the data, safety score of B first is quite low for rear facing. Also, comparatively it has a lower score than its older version Platinum Pro +. Can you please comment on these test results carried out by Child Restraint Evaluation Program (CREP)?

CREP is a partnership between:
Transport for NSW (TfNSW)
Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
Department of Transport Victoria
The Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia (Kidsafe Australia) and
Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ)

HI Kasun, thanks for your question, hopefully the below provides you a better understanding of the Britax testing for all Australian Standard approved child restraints.
Britax has conducted over 200 dynamic tests - including the certification test on the B-First ClickTight convertible car seat.
Britax is the only car seat manufacture with our own crash lab test facility.
CREP protocol and test methods are different to AN/NZS 1754:2013 standard.
We are continuously actively collaborating with CREP and endeavour to include CREP criteria with our design and development process where possible.
Britax is continuing ongoing discussion with CREP about their test methods to correct concerns regarding their testing differences to our testing. Kind regards, the Britax team.

This doesn’t make sense… Can you please explain why the Platinum Pro scores so highly in the CREP testing, yet the B First tests so poorly? You can’t have it both ways…

Reading the above; they are stating they have their own lab which means in-house testing. Sounds like a car salesman saying "trust me" lol

I have just been to a shop to compare the two, the sales assistant told us the ClickTight had a safer foam in the headrest compared to the ifix. Is this correct?

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

HI Maya, thanks for your question. The B-First ClickTight model is the top of our range and the headrest area is different in both models. The safest seat is a seat that is installed in the vehicle correctly and the child placed into the seat and harnessed correctly. Kind regards, the Britax team.

HI Linda, thanks for your question. We would recommend that you release your vehicle seat belt firstly then twist and pull the release button while add pressure to the top of the seat lid. If you're unable to release the seat following these steps please email us at au-support@britax,com with your details along with your contact number, Kind regards, the Britax team.

I have a Volvo XC40, I have seen one review of how this Britax model was not compatible with the car. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Should we stay away from Britax in that case?

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Jasmin, thanks for your question. The B-First ClickTIght is compatible with your vehicle however we would recommend you visit your local baby shop and try the seat in the vehicle to ensure this suits your families needs. We now have two B-First models available the B-First ClickTight - external link  & B-First iFix - external link  we would suggest that you look at both model and base your decision on the seat you prefer. Please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions or email us direct at au-support@britax.com kind regards, the Britax team.

What’s the minimum weight of the child to fit this car seat?

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Stephanie, thanks for your question. The current Australian safety standards tests to height and age therefore there is not an entry weight for the Britax Safe-n-Sound B-First. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Hello, I have been doing some research and have found that this seat does not meet ISO standards.
I have a VW TIguan 2020 which is a European car- will this seat be able to be installed in my car or not?

Kmorgan

No, it won’t

Britax Safe-n-Sound

Hi Jas R, thank for your question. The Safe-n-Sound B-First has not been manufactured with isofix therefore, can only be installed using a vehicles lap sash seat belt. Hi Britax team, it would be helpful if you could clarify here why b- first and b-first + doesn’t come with isofix? I recently bought a B- first +, and realized it doesn’t have isofix. I know it’s not mandatory in Australia but many experts say isofix is safer than seatbelt. Thank you.

How does this compare size wise with some of the slimmer designs Britax has. I anticipate needing to fit 3 car seats across a medium sized car and wish to understand whether thats really possible!

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Victoria M. Thanks for your question. In our convertible car seat range (birth-4 years) the b-first is the largest in size. If you are after some advise and suggestions, please email us at au-support@britax.com and we can further assist you. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Is there any real difference between the plus and b first? There's quite a bit of a price difference.
Also, is there a free replacement in the event of an accident?

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Pseudonorm, thanks for your question. The main difference between the two is the Thermo5 with the addition of Memory Foam. The high performance fabric gives your child active comfort where it matters most offering support where need for your little ones pressure points in the seat when travelling. The PLUS+ range is available exclusively at Baby Bunting stores.

We do offer a voluntary crash exchange program for car seats that have been involved in severe accidents. Kind regards, the Britax team

Thanks for clarifying. I drive a maximum of 30 mins with my son, so I reckon b-first should suffice then. Is this also approved for air craft travel and what's the weight limit for the child? Would the change over to a booster be based on height or both height or weight, whichever comes first.

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Thanks for your reply. It sounds like the B-First is a great choice for you, we would recommend that you visit your local baby shop and try the seat with your little one and in your vehicle. Seats suitability is no longer based on weight limits is based on your little ones seated height, there are shoulder height labels in the seat that will indicate when you need to more to the next stage or next suitable restraint. The B-First isn't aircraft compatible.

Hi, what is the difference between the bfirst and Platinum Pro?

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Louise C, thanks for your questions. The b-first is our most recent product in our range, and has advanced side impact protection technology, the new click tight installation system and ventilation zones for improved air flow. The Platinum Pro does have SICT in the head and torso as well however it does not have the adjustable side impact technology.
I have included the links below for you so you can see some of the other product features on both seats:

Thanks - the B-First fits well (more room than our Maxi-Cosi carrier took up) and is really easy to use. Our 4-month old also seems to enjoy sitting in the seat which is great.
