Unsafe - buckle has come unclipped whilst car in motion on 4 occasions
I started using a brand new Britax Safe-n-Sound Graphene just over a year ago. During this time, I have had to pull over on 4 occasions (twice on the freeway) because my toddler's arms were out of his harness. I followed Britax's directions to clean the buckle after the first time it happened but this did not fix the issue. When I called Britax about it, they said they would send me a new buckle. I said I wanted the whole seat inspected for compliance and if repaired (not replaced) some assurance that the car seat was safe if repaired. I w...as sent on a wild goose chase to book in a time with their repairer, who wasn't open when I called and then said they didn't work the next day either. What type of service is this? I still don't have any clue about when and where to take my car seat (let alone the fact that I am extremely anxious to drive with my toddler in the car seat). Why is this so hard? It is seemingly a faulty car seat - surely that's serious! The product is poor and the customer service is poor. I am going to cut my losses, buy a new car seat and it will definitely not be Britax - ever again.
Faulty and dangerous
Upon putting my rear facing daughter into her seat I noticed the harness straps were super loose. They released on their own. Pulled strap to tighten and nothing, back to loose. The mechanism to hold the belt tight had failed. Thank goodness it didn’t fail while driving or in an accident! Super dangerous.
So I messaged britax and their solution was to return it to them and forfeit having a seat for my child.
Not really good enough. I’m so disappointed in the seat to begin with (compared to infasecure Quattro it’s just not even in the same ball park) given it failed in its most basic job, to restrain. But the customer support is lacking. Sending my seat away and being left with nothing isn’t good enough britax.

Very tight fit for a newborn
I have bought the Graphene due to its compact size to fit in my car. It is not as good as the Millenia, which we use in another vehicle. The Graphene harness has practically no slack to allow you to comfortably position the baby into the seat before you tighten the straps; the lever to loosen the harness is hidden under a flap and can be difficult to find unlike the Millenia which is a button that can be seen on the seat; and when the seat is positioned rear-facing, the baby is almost in a seated position, which is a huge safety concern for a b...aby who cannot hold up its head (and yes I spoke to a fitter about this and they said the seat was fitted correctly). I should've just bought another Millenia rather than this expensive and hard-to-use seat.
Purchased in November 2019 at Baby Bunting Physical store for $450.00.
The arm straps are too loose across my 4.5 month-old baby's chest. For Britax to fix this, the relevant strap at the bottom of the seat that tightens the arm and groin areas needs to be able to tighten several more centimetres. Also, the arm straps get twisted and so it can be challenging to bring all the straps together straight to be buckled at the groin. I'm very unimpressed with the ratings body that gave this a good review as I bought it based on that, trusting them. I regret buying this product -I love good design and have found this lack...ing. I have car trips coming up that I am dreading due to my safety concerns mostly about the loose straps across my baby's chest. It was an expensive purchase -particularly as we bought one for each car. The seat was bought from and installed at Baby Bunting.
Purchased in June 2019.

Doesn’t sit right
I bought this one cause of the narrow base. What I didn’t realise is that it’s not a flat base so i have had issues trying to get it to sit back flat enough for my newborn to be safe. At the moment I have my 20 month in it and as she is old enough to walk etc it’s not an issue for her.
My new baby is due soon and I have spoken to countless people and fitters and they say it’s all installed perfectly.
However, it is way too upright for a newborn.
It doesn’t sit flush against the seat and no matter how may rolled up towel you use (as suggested by fitters), soon as you pull the anchor strap it just pulls the seat upright again.
I wish I had of stuck with the millennia like I did with my first. This new one is nothing but trouble
Questions & Answers
Hello where can I find the serial number on the graphene car seat?
Hi kelly B. Thanks for your question. The serial number and manufacturing sticker are located on the inside of the seat, close to where the crotch buckle slots into the seat. If you are having difficulty finding this, please email email@example.com so we can provide you with a photo to assist you further. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.
I have a Britax Graphene for my 13week old baby. He is quite big though (8kgs) and the newborn insert looks very tight/snug around him now. I am just wondering when I should remove this insert? When I remove it, there’s enough space on either side of him to place his arms down between his body and the side of the car seat.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for your question. We would recommend that the padded insert may be used for smaller babies in rearward facing mode. Discontinue the use of the padded insert if there is insufficient room for the child or shoulders have reached the lower shoulder height marker. If we can assist you with anything in the future, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Kind regards, the Britax team.
Hi, we have our 8 month in the rear facing position and she seema to long for it. Is there a way to adjust the recline
Hi Mel, thanks for your question. The seat will need to remain in most laid back/reclined postilion when in rear facing. We suggest that you remove the infant insert (if not already done). If you have any further questions, please feel free to email email@example.com
Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.
