Budget Direct - The Experts of Sending People on a Wild Goose Chase
I have been in a car accident where I was not at fault. The other person and I have third party insurance (I am with RAC).
I was given a claim number by the lady and was told to contact RAC who would then get in touch with budget direct.
Budget direct then passed me around to two departments and then automatically cut me off because I was outside of operating hours when I was clearly calling with half an hour before the end of their time frame.
Days later, I got through to budget direct and they said that the lady who crashed into me has to ... Read morecall them. After much arguing, she did and she was then told that I had to call RAC (again). So I did, and they said that budget direct had to take care of it as they are the at fault insurer, not them. SO I did, and my claim went through without any dramas (why could this just happen the first two times). My Car was towed and I was given a replacement car. The guy who game me the car said that any time that a customer hold onto the car for extended periods of time without actively progressing the repairs of that car, may be charged. I was then texted by Budget Direct's Accident Management team who advised me to call Budget Directs claim department (which they could have done easily because it is two departments of the same company) and advise them that my car is at a particular towing yard and that I needed to provide their number and email address - this could have been googled to be honest. I then tried calling the claims department multiple times over the next week (over five), and I was left on hold. I had to do this while at work as this was the best time to contact them within their work hours. Each time I was on hold, it was for a minimum of 30 minutes (the longest being 1 hour and 15 minutes), and at some point, the line would simply cut. Meaning I'd need to call again, pushing myself to the back of the queue. I texted the Accident Management number and told them this, all they could do was apologise and tell me that I need to keep calling. When asked if I could have an alternate number and email so I could contact them, they provided me with one. The number, lead me back to the Claims Department, where I was put on hold and hung up on AGAIN. And the email, which was sent one week ago, has not been responded to. After wasting between 3-4 hours of my own work time, I was concerned that I would be charged for the replacement car. So I called up and explained the situation, and the lady told me that "this is how Budget Direct is" and that I should be patient. Which frustrated me as I was not the one hanging up the line. She gave me another number which I planned on calling today at work. However, on my drive this morning I actually received a call from budget Direct, following up on the process of my car. After explaining the situation, the man apologised and then said that I need to advise them of the address of the towing company (which could literally be googled), which I said I couldn't do as I was driving. I then told the guy that the text messaged that I had received from Accident Management, clearly stated that I had to provide the number and email of the towing company, not the address. I said asked if I can provide the number, and if he can get in touch with the company in regards to collecting my car. He said I have to call the towing company and get the address and send it through. So I have one department telling me one thing to provide, and then another department asking for something else. ALL OF WHICH, can be found online. As I have done through this WHOLE painful contradictory process, I followed the instructions that I was given regardless of how pointless it seemed. I contacted the towing company myself, who said that I do not need to provide an address as it is not responsibility, but the insurers, and that I should just give them the number so I could give them a call. I explained the situation, to which the gentleman said, that would get one of his staff members to contact Budget Direct, so that I would have to go through this back and forth process again. I find it so interesting the the concept of paying for insurance so that you can have peace of mind when things go wrong, is SO twisted and for Budget Direct. In these last few weeks. I have had to wait on hold for 3-4 hours of my own work time, I have been told two contradictions in terms of instructions given from within the same company, I have been led back and forth between my insurance company and this one unnecessarily only to go back to budget direct and then my claim goes through like there was no issue in the first place, I have not received responses in emails or any call-backs from ANY department, and the one person who DID speak to me from budget direct this morning was asking for things that could have simply been searched online, but instead he wanted me to do and get back to him, probably to be put in hold again. The most success I have had in this process is with the towing company, who took the initiative to contact the relevant people on my behalf, because they know that this is the service people are paying for. The best part is, I am not even WITH Budget Direct. This is third party insurance. Why am I have to go to all of this effort if the principal of third party insurance is that the insurance company will take care of the not-at-fault person's needs. Not the other way around.

Terrible service. One of your clients crashed my car 25 days ago and I still have no answers. Nobody answers my calls. I have been on line for over 30 minutes and no one has answered. Got into an accident many months ago, of which I am not at fault. Throughout the process, no case manager as called me to verify my statements, no calls to any party involved or witnesses, and they come to a conclusion without explaining anything to you. Any attempt to reach them will take hours and hours of waiting on the phone. Budget Direct is extremely negligent in handling my case and has no interest to do a proper investigation to find out the truth. They are only interested in quickly closing the case. Budget Direct is a little cheaper than other Insurance Companies. This is why the quality of their overall services is appauling. The queing times on the phone before talking to a customer service operator are very long; some of the operators are rude, a bit impatient, and sound even annoyed; if I ask for clarifications because I am considering to add more excesses to my current insurance Policy for my vehicle, they would say - abruptly - "So which excesses do you want?!".

ation nor the answers to the customer's questions. Meaning that, every time I called Budget Direct within a period of 24-48 hours to discuss the same issue, the next operator will provide information which differs from what advised by the previous operator I spoke with only a few days before! They lack proper training, consistency and certainly customer care skills! In addition to that, in November 2022 I had a car accident and I lodged a claim which it has not been paid yet (today is the 27th June 2023!). After calling Budget Direct to discuss the reason for such delay, I was advised that they were going to action the payment on that same day! If I had not called, the refund would have never been processed (for the records: I was advised that the payment would have been processed within 2 weeks from when all the requested information would be sent from my end to Budget Direct (which I did on January 10th 2023!!!). What scares me the most about Budget Direct is that the information given by one customer service operator does not match with the information on the exact same matter provided by a different operator. I hope my feedback is read by the relevant person to improve the quality of the service offered by Budget Direct.Hi Gabriella. I only needed the car insurance for third party insurance, I have always been careful on the road, I only needed the insurance for road worthy purpose. The problem started nearing the end of the policy where I received an email stating that my insurance has a auto renewal function. Which insurance company does that? Of course I shopped around and found that the policy is not the cheapest option. I sent an email to budget direct to cancel the auto renewal. Not enough. Just when I thought that would be suffice, I receive an email a month later stating my insurance is being renewed. Your chances of getting a good service is 1 of 5 because thats how often i called them. 4 times terrible staff who either doesnt understand me or doesnt want to understand me.
