We had a similar experience, Bunnik kept 25% of the cost of a tour they were subsequently unable to provide under our contract with them. I understand ours was just one of 25,000 complaints received by the ACCC. While ever there is the threat of COVID it's not worth the risk booking with Bunnik. The travel industry should be forced to hold traveller deposits in trust until their services have been satisfactorily completed. Using clients tour deposits as working capital would not be tolerated in any other business.

Egypt and Jordan in Depth by Bunnik - Can do better with another company
My husband and I were also on this tour on 25/10/19 and Pippa’s recount of the tour was totally accurate, so much so that my written complaint to Bunnik upon my arrival back to Australia was almost identical in my criticisms. The Tour Guide in Jordan was extremely caring and knowledgable, resulting in a wonderful tour. Not so in Egypt. The Tour Guide was not like any other Tour Guide we’ve ever encountered in our previous travels. Granted he was a very knowledgeable Egyptologist however as for a Tour Guide interested in the wellbeing of ou...r group he fell far short and I would go so far as to say his shortcomings put some of our group’s health at risk and spoilt our tour considerably. It was devastating to realise that a lifetime dream to visit Egypt fell far short of our expectations due to our choice of Tour Company. Upon our arrival into Egypt we were advised that we wouldn’t be able to do the majority of the Optional Tours Bunnik had advertised in their tour brochure due to time constraints. Seriously? This meant that well over half of the Optional Tours were unavailable. A long way to travel only to be told the things you really wanted to see weren’t available. The group’s concerns regarding our Egypt tour were conveyed to Bunnik by people in our group in the first few days of our arrival into Egypt and that would have been the time for Bunnik to address the problems however nothing was done. I realise things do go awry when travelling at times however Bunnik ignored our group’s expressed concerns whilst the tour was in progress and failed to address the expressed written concerns I sent them upon my return to Australia to any degree of satisfaction. Very poor in my opinion.
Trip to Japan was cancelled because of Covid19 and Bunniks kept 25% of total paid which for our Book Group amounted to $20,000.. I feel, this is grossly unfair as I imagine all hotels in Japan gave complete refunds to Bunniks but they were within their rights. We will not book with Bunnik tours for any future travel.
PAID A PREMIUM PRICE AND RECEIVED A LEMON
Our family entered into a contract with Bunnik Tours for supply of an 18-day China in Depth Private Tour departing in September 2019. We paid a premium price over $7,000 per person and received a lemon.
Although we received some compensation from Bunnik Tours, it failed to cover the disappointment, distress and inconvenience caused as a result of their major failure by providing a substandard, inferior holiday. This was a special family holiday, celebrating several milestone events covering three generations of our family.
Bunnik also reso...rted to intimation tactics because I dared exercised my consumer rights - rights that are enshrined in Australia laws. The 18-day China in Depth Private Tour was a major failure and resulted from the absence of a critical component of the product we paid for i.e. the tour director, which impacted the tour delivery from day 1 to day 18 (holistic picture / cumulative impacts) making the product we received substandard and inferior. We were entitled to a tour director/national guide as had the minimum number of six people but were instead only provided with local guides. * Tour leader/director/national guide: an experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. * Local guide: often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.

Egypt and Jordan in Depth - Can do better
We undertook the Egypt and Jordan in Depth tour commencing on 25 October 2019. In the majority, it was a lovely trip. Our Jordan guide was very knowledgeable and cared about each traveler. Our guide in Egypt was an Egyptologist, but was deficient as a tour guide.
Where Bunnik failed Tourism 101:
- Not prearranging a meeting time with the group for the start of the tour, even though travelers were arriving on different flights
- Not checking to see that all the details for the changed itinerary were confirmed by their in-country agents, tour gu...
Eighth Tour with Bunnik
Have just returned from Colours of Rajasthan and Nepal with Bunnik.
As usual the food and accommodation was very good. We covered a lot of territory in both countries, sometimes on appalling roads in Nepal. We had one driver, Ram, for the India section, who was outstanding. The representatives and local guides were excellent.
In Nepal we had various drivers who were all very competent while our National guide, Nabu, was fantastic.
As usual, except for a few very minor problems which were sorted out in the field, the trip went smoothly.
None of these minor problems were the result of any dealings with Bunnik.
I will definitely be booking my next holiday with Bunnik and wouldn't look anywhere else

Highlights of Egypt Tour
We were looking for a holiday where we didn't need to think or worry about anything but just be on holiday. This tour met all our expectations. Bunnik looked after everything for us. Our tour guide was fantastic and all the staff that we met along the way were fabulous also. Cannot thank Bunnik enough for this experience.
Egypt and Jordan in Depth
This holiday met all of our expectations and then some. It was well-paced, with time out here and there, or extra tours if you wanted them. Petra and Abu Simbel was outstanding, as was the Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings. Al Alemain was very moving. We loved Wadi Rum also! Took a balloon flight (an extra) in Luxor and it was incredible - you would be crazy to miss it. Good value for money with a high standard of accommodation. Tour guides were a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and couldn't do enough for us. Loved the Nile cruise also.
Tanzania and Kenya
I have just returned for a Sept-Oct 16-day tor to Tanzania and Kenya. We were looked after extremely well from start to finish. All of the staff - from the Bunnik-organized staff at the airport who met us and assisted us with flights and immigration, to our fabulous driver guides - were kind, very professional, patient, good-humoured, and skilled at their jobs. Our two driver guides (Pastory and Augustine) were excellent, very knowledgeable and able to spot animals from a great distance away. We saw hundreds and hundreds of animals. The program...me was excellent - each national park had something special that the others did not - and the accommodation was beautiful also (e.g. overlooking Ngorongoro Crater or Mount Kilimanjaro!) . My Bunnik travel agent, Purnima, was excellent and very thorough. Our tour group of eight was perfect. Highly recommended.

Small group tour to China
Booked a small-group 18-day tour to China with Bunnik. Their itinerary suited my wife with visits to the top attractions, e.g. Beijing (Forbidden City, Great Wall), Shanghai (The Bund), Xi'an (terracotta warriors), Chengdu (giant pandas) and Yangtze River cruise (Three Gorges Dam), plus my top attraction - the Li River cruise and spectacular scenery at Guilin and Yangshuo. To visit all these locations required three internal flights and two bullet trains, but all went smoothly due to our excellent tour guide, Alice Hu.
Our only problems occur...
Bunnik tour to Sri Lanka - a must on the bucket list
Just back from a great holiday .A truly memorable time; very professionally organised, personable guides, everything the tour promised. The food was great, only hot if you wanted, accommodation was wonderful and a great standard, the locals were so friendly. I felt safe the whole time. We were lucky and saw a wild leopard in the national park. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with beaches , tea plantations, national parks , temples , history and cricket!
Bunnik Tours .. don’t expect to fly with your partner
We have organised a trip to Peru on Tuesday and have just found out when we checked in that my husband and I are sitting near the toilets in separate rows on Latam. We contacted our Bunnik rep who told us that we would have to call Latam and upgrade our tickets on 7 flights so that we can sit together. Looks like they booked the cheapest tickets for the flights with the poorest seats. Really disappointed. Hope the rest of the tour is not like this!!!
An amazing trip to Sri Lanka with Bunnik Tours Passed all expectations.
Everything was perfect for my tour of Sri Lanka. Guide and others were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Wonderful tour and exceptional place to visit. Safaris with the animals were awesome. Hotels and food were amazing and meals with the local people very interesting.
Amazing Alpine Discovery.
My husband and I recently completed the Alpine Discovery Tour and can thoroughly recommend it. While we were particularly interested in the amazing natural scenery, there was also a good balance of cultural experiences.
Our tour guide, Ales was excellent; friendly, informative, helpful and ensured everyone was well looked after. The little extras he included gave the tour a personal touch. Our driver, Paul was friendly, helpful and made us feel safe as he navigated the winding roads into the mountains.
There were nineteen of us on the bus and ...

First time small tour travelling experience
Just back from my first group tour experience. Went to Spain, Portugal and Morocco with Bunniks. Didn't know anything about tour holidays. Booked on-line and paid the quoted price. Went like clockwork. Fantastic guides. Great itinerary. Good mix of historical sites, natural and cultural experiences. There were so many experiences that were worth the journey on their own. Plenty of time allowed and good guidance for free activities. Well located accomodation. All the surprises were good ones. No unexpected expenses. So satisfied I've booked another trip for next year.
We have just returned from our first Bunnik tour (Italian Discovery) and it was amazing. From our travel consultant through to our tour guide who was very informative, nothing was to much trouble. We would definitely recommend Bunnik to our family and friends
The Bunnick magic carpet ride thru 6 Eastern European countries over 3,500 km in late spring.
Have just returned from our third Bunnick tour. This trip overland from Moscow to Prague over 3,500 km through six countries worked very well, ably led by tour director Marina and our bus driver Argus.
Hopefully our group of 18 had enough churches, castles and history to satisfy their urges, The highlight for me was cruising in the bus across country, often up smaller rural roads, seeing the real rural areas at the end of spring with green crops and pastures, wild life and farm animals everywhere. It was peak stork nesting season so every spare power pole in Poland seemed to have a nest on top with 2-3 small chicks getting ready to fly.
Can highly recommend Bunnick and their in-country teams.
Met our expectations, on every front
We were on the same tour with Cass & Dave, and couldn’t fault any of there comments a great time was had by all,Uanee our guide was wonderful & yes made us all feel very safe.

Bunnik were simply amazing
Bunnik were simply amazing. Everything was done as expected and entire tour was incredible. Couldn’t have asked for more. We were collected at the airport and then had guidance and advice every step of the way, without them being intrusive. There was always somebody to ask, somebody to assist and you never felt alone. The hotel quality was amazing, buses clean and comfortable, tickets always easy and purchased, transport when needed and nothing was ever too much hassle. The other highlight was with the small group, you got to know (as muc...h you wanted) the other people on the tour and everybody of all ages got along. The most amazing highlight though was our guide for the adventure. Ibrahim was amazingly knowledgeable, passionate, caring, understanding and just a really nice guy. Nothing was ever a problem, but everything got done. He had such an amazing knowledge, and wanted to share that knowledge, wanted us to see and feel the whole adventure. They even seemed to time the arrivals so that we just missed the crowds. We had some places where we were the only tour group in the place. And if there were others there because of the small group we would see something nobody else was looking at, and then move to the main attraction when the groups had moved on. Do yourself a favor and travel with Bunnik tours. Just an amazing, breathtaking and incredible adventure. Well worth the money, well worth the time.
Questions & Answers
Has anyone made the UK trip with Bunnik? If so I'd be interested in your review, thank you.
We are interested in doing the Highlights of Egypt and Jordan in mid March 2020. There are currently warnings about travelling in the Middle East - how aware is your tour company and the local guides of security and imminent threats?
We had warnings when we decided to still travel. Everyone at Bunnik are very helpful and will keep you up-to-date of any issues. Security is very high in these countries, so everyone is doing their best to keep everyone safe.
We felt safe the whole time we were in Egypt. We had people on our tour that had been to Jordan and said they also felt safe at all times. You just need to follow their security protocols.
I guess given the current issues with Iran and Iraq it makes things a little more tense. We definitely had no issues in November.
Hope this helps.
Many thanks for your reply - it is a particularly expensive tour so I guess the accommodation and guides seem of a very high standard compared to like itineraries.

Thanks for your query regarding the Middle East. We pay very close attention to all of the countries we visit on our tours as the safety of our travellers is of utmost importance to us.
We have a proud history of more than 15 years’ touring in this region and work very closely with our local ground operators to ensure our travellers have the best experience while they are on tour.

Hi, I'm thinking of doing the Scandinavian discovery in 2020 with Bunnik Tours as a solo. Do any members have feedback/reviews on this tour? I'm little concerned about the 2 internal flights on this tour, that is., do you miss seeing a lot of the countryside because you are flying instead of driving? Thank you!
I am also thinking about this trip, but also concerned we will miss out n scenery and fjords with the 2 flights. I am aware that the flights will save us a lot of time instead of driving, anyone have any comments regarding this
Julie M.Bunnik Tours
Hi Ann and Sue,
I understand your concerns as the scenery is what draws most people to visit this region of the world.
The two internal flights reduce travelling time. as driving these large distances would add a number of days to the tour, also making it more expensive. It's another case of not being able to cover everything - as much as we'd love to!
Please rest assured that there is plenty of absolutely gorgeous scenery throughout this tour, I don't think you'd be disappointed.
Thank you for your query and if we can be of further assistance please don't hesitate to contact our office or your travel agent.
