Egypt and Jordan in Depth by Bunnik - Can do better with another company
My husband and I were also on this tour on 25/10/19 and Pippa’s recount of the tour was totally accurate, so much so that my written complaint to Bunnik upon my arrival back to Australia was almost identical in my criticisms. The Tour Guide in Jordan was extremely caring and knowledgable, resulting in a wonderful tour. Not so in Egypt. The Tour Guide was not like any other Tour Guide we’ve ever encountered in our previous travels. Granted he was a very knowledgeable Egyptologist however as for a Tour Guide interested in the wellbeing of ou...
Read morer group he fell far short and I would go so far as to say his shortcomings put some of our group’s health at risk and spoilt our tour considerably. It was devastating to realise that a lifetime dream to visit Egypt fell far short of our expectations due to our choice of Tour Company. Upon our arrival into Egypt we were advised that we wouldn’t be able to do the majority of the Optional Tours Bunnik had advertised in their tour brochure due to time constraints. Seriously? This meant that well over half of the Optional Tours were unavailable. A long way to travel only to be told the things you really wanted to see weren’t available. The group’s concerns regarding our Egypt tour were conveyed to Bunnik by people in our group in the first few days of our arrival into Egypt and that would have been the time for Bunnik to address the problems however nothing was done. I realise things do go awry when travelling at times however Bunnik ignored our group’s expressed concerns whilst the tour was in progress and failed to address the expressed written concerns I sent them upon my return to Australia to any degree of satisfaction. Very poor in my opinion.1 comment
Bunnik has a problem with sub-contractors
We did the Turkey in Depth tour with 'Bunnik' but it turned out that the tour was run by a local company called Talisman. We were not disappointed with Turkey but very disappointed with Bunnik, therefore the rating I have given the tour. It fell way short of the philosophy advertised on the website. We often stayed in large hotels well out of town rather than the centrally located boutique hotels promised. There was very little time for 'independent exploration' and too many of the included meals were the hotel buffet. We contacted them when we returned and while they were apologetic they did nothing to convince me that if I traveled with them again I would not encounter similar problems.

Dear Ralph,
I’m sorry that you did not feel reassured by our response to your initial feedback. ...
Read more Client feedback is such a valuable tool in letting us know what’s working well and what needs to be reviewed and it is for this reason that all feedback is read by every staff member directly involved in managing a particular tour. All feedback is followed up and any potential issues are investigated by speaking with other members of the group to get an overall impression of the tour. If any consistent issues arise from the group they are acted upon immediately as we take pride in what we do and are committed to providing the best possible tour experience that is in alignment with our philosophy. Partnering with local tour operators is standard practice for the majority of tour companies only some go to greater lengths to hide this fact. Our 3 company directors, Marion, Sacha and Dennis visited Turkey in March this year to ensure that we have the balance right for this tour. I hope this helps to assure you that your comments were not only heard but also appreciated. Yours sincerely, Julie Moran-Bunnik Customer Care ManagerSusanSouth East Queensland, QLD

sub contracting problems
Did a new tour (expensive) with these guys - they sub contracted to a group called "Go West" and it was rubbish. We had a VERY POOR HOLIDAY. No tour guide just a driver who knew very little. This was not the quality holiday we were promised and expected. To add insult to injury Bunnik were not interested in properly compensating us for THEIR failed experiment. They said they were not going to do any more USA tours. Seemed like it was all OUR fault!
Go elsewhere.
Well, you cannot take away from the amazing natural wonders of scenery. Small group.
Poor itineray and planning - nothing worked well. No designated tour guide. Poorly maintained vehicle

We are interested in doing the Highlights of Egypt and Jordan in mid March 2020. There are currently warnings about travelling in the Middle East - how aware is your tour company and the local guides of security and imminent threats?

Hi Chris
We had warnings when we decided to still travel. Everyone at Bunnik are very helpful and will keep you up-to-date of any issues. Security is very high in these countries, so everyone is doing their best to keep everyone safe.
We felt safe the whole time we were in Egypt. We had people on our tour that had been to Jordan and said they also felt safe at all times. You just need to follow their security protocols.
I guess given the current issues with Iran and Iraq it makes things a little more tense. We definitely had no issues in November.
Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your reply - it is a particularly expensive tour so I guess the accommodation and guides seem of a very high standard compared to like itineraries.

Thanks for your query regarding the Middle East. We pay very close attention to all of the countries we visit on our tours as the safety of our travellers is of utmost importance to us.
We have a proud history of more than 15 years’ touring in this region and work very closely with our local ground operators to ensure our travellers have the best experience while they are on tour.

Hi, I'm thinking of doing the Scandinavian discovery in 2020 with Bunnik Tours as a solo. Do any members have feedback/reviews on this tour? I'm little concerned about the 2 internal flights on this tour, that is., do you miss seeing a lot of the countryside because you are flying instead of driving? Thank you!

I am also thinking about this trip, but also concerned we will miss out n scenery and fjords with the 2 flights. I am aware that the flights will save us a lot of time instead of driving, anyone have any comments regarding this
Julie M.Bunnik Tours
Hi Ann and Sue,
I understand your concerns as the scenery is what draws most people to visit this region of the world.
The two internal flights reduce travelling time. as driving these large distances would add a number of days to the tour, also making it more expensive. It's another case of not being able to cover everything - as much as we'd love to!
Please rest assured that there is plenty of absolutely gorgeous scenery throughout this tour, I don't think you'd be disappointed.
Thank you for your query and if we can be of further assistance please don't hesitate to contact our office or your travel agent.
Kind regards,
The Bunnik Tours Team

Dear Diane,
I do apologise that you did not feel reassured by our response to your initial feedback in November 2019....
Read more Client feedback is such a valuable tool as it lets us know what is working well and what needs to be reviewed. Please rest assured that your feedback regarding Optional Excursions was passed onward to our Middle East Product manager, who has since included a clearer explanation on client documentation and also added a specific note to the Bunnik Tours website. Our aim is to include all of the must-see attractions within the tour itself. Any offered Optional Excursions are based on special-interest activities that don't always appeal to everyone. Due to the timing & practicability, these are subject to several external factors, such as internal flight timing, weather & local/traffic conditions. I do apologise that this was not made clear to you during your booking process and thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am saddened to hear that you felt your Egyptologist Tour Guide did not meet your expectations. We strive to select the best suited guide for each of our tour departures as we understand the impact they can have on a successful tour. As we have previously received very positive feedback on his abilities, we were surprised to hear of your concerns and therefore passed these onward to our local operator. All submitted feedback, whether during the tour or upon completion, is followed up and any potential issues are investigated both by speaking with other members of the group to get an overall impression of the tour and with our local operator, as was the case for your tour departure. If any consistent issues arise across the group, they are acted upon immediately as we take pride in what we do and are committed to providing the best possible experience in alignment with our philosophy. Kind regards, The Bunnik Tours team
