Very happy with their service and super fast claim settlement. TV glass was damaged by my daughter by throwing a toy. lodged the claim, got the service report, it got replaced as the cost to fix the TV was higher then the replacement.
A new Tv is going to be delivered in next couple of days.
The claiming process was very fast and service agent who helped me was super helpful.
Definitely recommend home content insurance with accidental damage coverage from Bupa to those who have little kids playing around and might damage the expensive TV or computer.
Very confusing company
Got a quote online for contents and home insurance ,which i thought was very reasonable compared to others .Used their online replacement value calculator to get approximate value for house and contents and it came in at $352,000 for house replacement other calculator's i had used came in at $100,000 more.
Tried their online chat to verify the accuracy of their valuation and the consultant replied with details of their breakdowns in HEALTH INSURANCE premiums ,simply could not get him to understand i was only interested in home and contents
If they don't know the difference between policies and some one tries to claim for say a broken cistern or shower screen you might finish up with set of new dentures or hip replacement
Disappointing claims service. Wish I did more research before buying with Bupa!
I have my home insurance with Bupa and I'm trying to process a claim of a leaking shower since December (over 3 months now). For the first time I got to experience the Bupa / CGU customer service since I bought the insurance. Unfortunately correspondence gets sent to wrong address, there is no response to my emails and the staff member I spoke with today treated me like a nuisance.
In addition they appointed a plumber to review my leaking shower. He was totally wrong with his assessment which was obvious event to a lay person like me. I reques...
Today is now exactly one week since I contacted Bupa re double payment of policy on home and contents insurance. At first contact I was told I will receive response within 48 hours. I rang back 48 hours later and was told query was referred to Accounts and they must be very busy to not have responded. I was told another working day was needed. Another working day passed and I rang again. The contact person was not available. Left message requesting call back. No call back. On the phone right now. Contact person is busy. Let me guess, contact person won't be available yet again.
Victim of Bupa and their appointed assessors and builders.
HBA (Bupa) hired assessors who had no experience with Cat.5 Cyclone in Feb.2011. We were forced to sign with a builder we did not want, or they would not pay our accommodation during building.
This was done during severe stress from after Cyclone and personal health problems in the family. The builder and assessor minimised costs and did not add damage to scope of works or variations. It's now September 2012 and still work not complete. Bupa has now paid the builder off without our approval. The builder now does not care anymore as they hav...e been paid. Same with the assessor. We have now had to go to QBSA and Ombudsman to see if we can get our home finished. Dealing with and our experience with "BUPA" and their assessors "Crawford & Co." and their terrible builder "Townsend Building Services" has been 100 worse than the Cyclone. The builders site manager told us before leaving the company that "he wished that we would have a heart attack and die". Nice young man? We caught him out cheating many times on products, telling lies etc. by getting cheap alternatives to what we had, however they charged the prices to what we had before. Also they have been paid for work never done. This totals to thousands of dollars. Keep away from all 3 if you have the unfortunate experience with a natural disaster. From initial scope of works quoted was $174.000 approx. The cost has now reached $300.000+. We should have been paid out in the beginning and not go through the nightmare and begging to get things fixed that were damaged which still today is happening? Why? We have photos before and after the event and all the communication records which have now gone to the Financial Ombudsman and QBSA hoping they will not take too long to get damage fixed. As they are overloaded with work it might take another year for the results...... What a joke! This conduct must be rectified by someone in the Government as there are many people in same situation with insurance companies that we know in Cardwell and Tully areas of Qld. We need help from these sort of Insurance Companies and their appointed rip-off builders and assessors who look after the insurance company and not you, the insured!

Bupa has raised our premiums by almost 100% (over $2000 more per year) after taking over mutual community! This is with our 10% discount for having everything with them.
There was no notification of this, just the new premiums in the post. As it takes about 20minutes waiting time to get a phone answered and the website login has not been working, I had to go into the city to find out what was happening - of course quite a line up for the poor staff in there due to this.
