Very long shipping time
Ordered contact lenses that should be delivered within 2 weeks according shipping time provided on the order confirmation. I did choose Bupa especially for the short lead time. Other providers promised to deliver within 3-4 weeks. Today contacted Bupa regarding my order as 2 weeks already passed, and they advised that shipping time is 4-6 weeks. Why that information wasn't disclosed before submitting the order? Very bad service.
Need to have deep pockets for Bupa even with membership
Went in the garden city today to get a pair of sunnies and reading glasses ,
I picked out to pairs cost was 320$ , then had to pay an extra cost for prescription lenses , extra cost for polarised the total came 425 $ AFTER they took off my 260$ membership ,
most optical shops include the prescription lenses in the frame cost but not bupa , will be considering Changing health funds as this was one of the main reasons I joined Bupa ,
should be ashamed of yourselves strait up Robbery

My wife and I (both Bupa members on the second highest levels of cover) attended the Chermside QLD Bupa Optical store today Saturday 01 May 2021 (from approximately 02:50pm).
While in the store my Wife and I were completely ignored by all free staff members (but particularly by Katherine) for approximately half an hour while numerous other customers who entered the store after us were greeted and offered assitance
Katherine also she made snide and disrespectful comments and gestures to other staff members which were directed at both myself an...d my wife, presumably because we had the audacity to wear casual clothing on a weekend? When we eventually decided on a pair of glasses (without any assistance from staff), we then stood at the counter for a significant period, while Katherine and the other staff members (who were just sitting down not doing anything) completely ignored us. Eventually my Wife and I had to call the store phone twice while standing at the counter to get anyone in the store to even acknowledge our presence.

Even though it took a few weeks between my eye exam and picking up my glasses I'm very happy with the final product. Friendly service from Nadia, refreshing for a normally chilly health insurance company. There were too many choices in frames, but that's good, right? I paid a premium price for frames and lenses, especially the lens extras, but am otherwise happy enough with the outcome and, again, Nadia made the experience much less painful - please give the gal a raise!
On 18 March 2020 I purchased a pair of mutli-focal glasses for the first time from the Doncaster Bupa Optical store. In previous years I have always gone to Spec Savers. I decided that; as I was getting my first pair of multi-focal glasses I would give Bupa a go. What a BIG mistake!!
The woman that served me was passively obnoxious and to get me to spend MORE on frames told me that the frames didn’t look good and that I should get a more expensive pair (emotive rubbish!!) when I was resolute about the frames I was purchasing she told me that t...hey looked ok!! What rubbish retail behavior to increase her sales!! I was required to pay the out of pocket expenses at the initial appointment and that they would 'assist me to make a claim from Bupa" at time of pick up. What if Bupa wouldnt pay their portion? I would have been out of pcoket by over $500. During the lockdown my frames became loose, they fell off my face while bending over and before I could grab them my puppy accidentally stood on them. This bent the hinge on the arm of my frames and has resulted in my frames being lopped sided. When the store reopened from lockdown, I took the glasses in and the woman that sold me the glasses tried to repair them, she missed that they were bent at the hinge and tightened the earpiece/templetip.
Prices have increased top insurance but out of pocket amount rediculous amount is insurance worth it anymore disappointed. Multi lenses overpriced
Worst customer service and unprofessional staffs
customer service is the worst, staffs are not professional. find your self a better optical shop elsewhere. Even if you are with Bupa, they may not give u the best saving option as they charge extra on the same lenses.so its like u get quoted more and claimed more, out of pocket amt may still be higher compare to other places.

I bought contact lenses from bupa optical, but I never received them. Even though I received the confirmed emails and they already charged me money, they did not send me the items. After 3 weeks waiting, I contact bupa optical and I was told that my orders were cancelled. If I did not ask them, they would send me nothing and keep my money in their own pocket.
Worst Optical service
Ordered a prescription sunglasses at Bupa optical store Garden city Mount Gravatt supposed to deliver within two weeks. Called them after three weeks, tried to speak with the manager unfortunately he is not available and they can’t guarantee to deliver even after 4 weeks which is next Friday. Thinking to moving out of Bupa private insurance. Paying nearly $ 380/ months for premium.

Ordered contact lenses was expecting 3 days to deliver. Only after purchasing does an email come out saying 7-9 business days to deliver.

Had eye exam all was OK until I mentioned I wished to use my own frames. The disapproval was so obvious, the girl on the desc aked me to put the frames I wished to use on and she the asked me to look at her while she marked the lens as to where the pupil was. I noticed the marks where smudged so asked her if that was sufficient as at other examination the staff have been quite diligent in taking measurements., she replied, yes, and looked away. I received the specs by post as requested as I live 240 Km from Adelaide and immediately had troubl...e with blurring. I persevered for a week but had to go back to my old specs. I rang them and the only way to fix this is another 480 Km round trip to have this sorted. Personally I am sure we are all being ripped off by these people as Spec frame prices have soared over the last few years when most mass produced products have become cheaper. I would bet the staff is on a bonus scheme, the higher the cost of frame sold the bigger the bonus. Good frame on eBay around 40-50$ are well over $200 at optometrist stores, so why are they so expensive???
After nearly a month I called to find out if my sons (age 17) glasses were ready at your Macquarie store. I was told they had been ready for ages but they had no means of contacting me. This was not correct as I had given them my email and phone number when we ordered them. We went in to collect the glasses and the guy gave them to us. He did not get my son to check the reading card like other optometrists. He told my son to put them on and then just said they were ok. He then went back to eating his lunch and slurping his drink at the counte...r with the other staff. Sadly would never use your company again or recommend them to anyone as the store is staffed by completely unprofessional people who are more interested in their lunch than customer service.
Wasted time and dollars.
I took my quote and script for lenses from Bupa Optical to an independent optometrist. They got me the exact same lenses from the same laboratory that Bupa Optical use and the identical designer frames for over $400 - less out of pocket. Even although BUPA supposedly pay $100 extra for BUPA preferred. The independent provider also pointed out that buyers should question a tinted lense charge on top of a polarizing charge. Should it be one or the other? Can you get polarized glasses that aren’t tinted? Perhaps not good practice to charge for...both. Overall BUPA OPTICAL was outrageously overpriced. Service was also not comparable to the independent provider. When I humbly questioned the B O staff about the huge out of pocket quote I was treated extremely rudely. They pointed out I was getting an extra $150 discount. I felt embarrassed that I couldn’t afford the glasses. They totally made out that you pay extra for better. Not so! It’s simply a matter of profit margins. I totally believed that a BUPA optometrist would be cheapest for a BUPA member. I hope this review will help someone else save money. Remember that once you have had your eyes tested you can take your test results and script and get quotes from other optometrists. Many optometrists will even source and quote on the same frames. $500 is a ridiculous difference. I never dreamt there could be such a huge difference. I was also intrigued to hear that there are only a few huge labs that service many optometrists. The Bupa service was also mainly about getting me to go for the top end frames and convincing me that they were worth the extra $$s. Very astute salesmanship. Luckily for me I got the frames and top lenses with all the extras for a much more affordable price. Buyers beware!
Bought a pair of glasses last year and tried to re-used for new prescription, the sales person said ok. Pit the charges for lens only with minimum gap payment.....however, got a ball 2 weeks later claimed the frame broken by the lab, asked if I want a new pair or re-used another old frame. When I asked whether I can get compensation, over the phone yes, but not in the store. Yes I spoke to the same person but out of sudden, she forgot about it.
I don't want to argue but pretty sure I am not going back but look for individual store.
Opening hours are a joke.
Arrived 5 minutes before close and the place was a ghost town. Would advise to call ahead, or go to another optometrist.

Despite being with BUPA and having top range cover, i was quoted $131 gap for a pair of glasses at BUPA optical Hornsby. When I can get no gap glasses elsewhere this seems excessive, I do have plenty of extras on my cover. Very disappointed with Hornsby BUPA optical.

Why are we being charged so much for Spectical frame when they are produced in China by the millions, and you can buy them from eBay Exc quality frames for 40-50$
