Happy campiners overall.
Hired at Townsville August 2018. Van drove well, bedding inadequate for inland stays as sleeping bags were see through. Fridge and house batteries were unreliable. Home a week and still awaiting insurance repayment. Happy with staff assistance.
The kids loved it, the adults...
Similar to other reviewers, the customer service was lacking - despite notification of our flight arrival time, the pick up location was closed when we arrived, which caused a bit of hassle, and meant we missed two days hire. Upon pickup, we were told that we had to wash (the outside of) the vehicle when we returned it (with the bucket and dishcloth provided)...surely this is not something that is expected of the customer?! The booster seat arrangement provided for my daughter wasn't particularly safe. Also, they told us they had only provided...enough gas for one night. We bought an additional gas bottle, but didn't end up using it, because the gas lasted the whole time. The bedding was not very comfortable and I'm glad we only had young kids sleeping in the roof area - there is no way we could have actually fitted. The van suited our purposes, but we weren't sorry to bid it farewell!

Good at the sales pitch ok customer service
To Their credit camperman did come back and compensate me. I have upgraded their review accordingly.
I have upgraded this review. The van fleet needs to be more up to date, the worn suspension and facilities really show. However the van ran smoothly and the gas stove and fridge worked well. They could check it more thoroughly with decent sleeping bags and explaining to customers properly that the microwave and 240 volt appliances would only work when plugged in. Their staff could have handled the backdoor issue a lot more effectively as well.

Cheap and you get what you pay for.
We had a great holiday Camperman gave us a cheap way to have a two week holiday in North Queensland. The only complaint is that the interior needs a bit more focus on cleaniness in giving the curtains a wash now and again. Other complaint the linen was of a very poor standard had to buy my own bedding and towels. We even had to buy new camper chairs as they were so used they broke. But have to say the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this company to friends.
We wanted to book a campervan in Airlie Beach and Camperman and Wicked our only options. I appreciate that as a non popular pick up depot they ask for a $250 fee. The pick up process at Camperman and the orientation to the van was good but we found that evening at our first stop that the two man tent that was supposed to be included was nowhere to be found in the van. We phoned the next day and a tent was available for us to pick up in Townsville. The tent we were given in Townsville was in a ripped old bag and seemed to be a mismatch of a coup...le of different tents? Broken poles, no mallet for placing pegs. It stunk and was full of dirt and leaves. We used it once and it leaked so for the rest of the trip the 5 of us slept in the camper. Only one of the two gas burners worked on the stove which made cooking a meal for the family a long process. The van was reliable mechanically apart from the keyless entry. We have hired several campervans in Australia and NZ over the years and our Camperman experience was the most expensive but the least memorable. I would not recommend them to my friends.
Questions & Answers
How old are your campervans in average and with how many milage (paradise shower/ toilet)?
The vehicles are old with very high mileage. According to their advertising the vans are 2006-2012 so don't expect a new and modern van because you won't get one!
