Slow, Noisy and did I mention VERY SLOOOOOW
I have probably owned 5 or 6 printers in my time and with this Canon I learned a big lesson. When something is a good price deal it almost certainly isn`t . This thing takes around 2 minutes to get going if you haven`t printed for a day or so. I have never known a printer clean the cartridge heads so often and so so slowly. If you want to print just a page or so this thing takes an age, you could have written the damned thing by the time it takes the Canon to warm up and transfer the file across from your computer, and that`s even if the printer is left switched on permanently.
I don`t care what model you choose from this range or whatever the price, avoid, avoid, avoid. Canon have gone from top tier to bucket printers very rapidly.
Purchased in July 2019 for $59.00.
Problems within 2 months of purchase...
After the supplied ink cartridges were used up, purchased generic ink....within a short time, the red or magenta did not come through anymore.....so after weeks of frustration and unable to print anything in colour, bit the bullet and purchased a genuine Canon magenta ink cartridge from Office Works...installed it correctly and it still does not print anything in red.....just tried to deep clean etc following manuals instructions and guess what? It still does not work...this is the second Canon MX726 we have purchased in three years and definitely the last one....Canon your printers suck.
Absolute rubbish! Problem after problem!
Bought about 2 years ago. Nothing but problems. Not a lot of use. Now says fault B200 - means get it fixed by Canon as something wrong inside which will be expensive to fix. Problems with scanning, copying mainly. Exceedingly slow to start and tp print and scan. Thus is my 3rd Canon in 5 years. Now going to another company for my next one.

Very SLOW, Gulps through ink and now doesn't work!
Bought this Canon MX726 printer in 2016 to replace our trusty old HP PhotoSmart 3310 that we'd bought about 10 yrs earlier which finally seemed to have developed some unknown printing. problem. (Never had a single problem in previous ~10yrs) We thought Canon was a reliable, trustworthy brand (like HP) so opted to change brands for no particular reason and bought the Canon MX726 printer instead. One would think that over 10yrs technology would advance to create an even better much more reliable and efficient printer. We also understand the bus...
Read moreiness model of all printer companies is to sell the printer cheap - but charge $$$ for the replacement ink, also understand that new printers only comes with a minimal ink supply. I got that bit. The problem with this Canon MX726 is that from day one it's been ridiculously SLOW printing - even a basic single page of print (1page per min - if lucky) and uses crazy amounts of ink. We don't do very much printing at all and I replaced a full set of ink cartridges about 6 weeks ago (AUD$130) - and now it's starting to run low again!!! WTH??? Now it telling me 'error - no paper' - well it has a full set of paper (not overfull) and i've checked and reloaded and 'error' and re-checked/reloaded and 'error' and re-checked/reloaded and 'error' and checked and reloaded and 'error' etc. I've reloaded the paper precisely as I've done in the past - but still damn error. WTH?? Won't print! Many times in the recent past it just refuses to print from the print queue AT ALL for absolutely no logical reason. Just doesn't/can't print.... Damn inconvenient and frustrating at 2:00am when something HAS to be printed! Now in my frustrations with this useless Canon MX726 and with minimal effort I've managed to troubleshoot and restart the old Hewlett Packard HP3310 and it's working and printing just beautifully - and quite fast and reliable. Not like this damn Canon garbage. Grrrrrr!!! Don't buy this Canon MX726 printer - it's been garbage from day 1.A terrible printer.
The Canon Pixma726 looks like a promising printer, it is compact, and when it works, the quality is satisfactory plus. But it never lasts. I bought two Canon MX726 printers, fortunately at Officeworks, I had to return two printers, and just now, the third time the printer has stopped printing, with the message 'Filter" failed. There is no hint anywhere how to correct this, so I will be forced to return the printer, this time I will get a product from a different maker

Slow and drinks the ink!
Horrible printer. So much bloatware in the install, it covers your desktop! And then it takes ages to load up just to print. Very complicated to use. I've avoided Canon based on this experience. Stick to Cameras, you guys suck at making printers. I wouldn't want to burn my reputation for recommending such a shoddy product. I actually bought this for my parents and it's a horrible experience compared to my Brother printer. I actually bought this after the Brother printer thinking Canon was better, hmmmm. We can't all be right all the time I gues...
Read mores. Also, if you happen to be on the Canon Website for this printer, I tried posting this review and this is the response I got: Your review has been moderated. Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time! How biased. Worst printer ever Canon MX726
Randomly loses its connection so have to power it off/on before I can print. Jams trying to do double-sided print. Goes though ink really quickly. Frustratingly slow. Even the scanning process is ridiculously complex - have to allow around 4 min for a 1 page scan, and heaven forbid if it is double sided!

no end of problems
I can't rely on this printer. Every second time I want to print it just wont with no explanation and no error messages. So frustrating! It goes through ink incredibly fast and the refills are ridiculously expensive. I'll be replacing it asap. Absolutely thee worst printer I've ever used and will never buy a Canon again!
Slowest Printer In The World!!!!
Have had this for 6 months now, and swear at it each day. Thinking thinking thinking about print, OMG.
I nearly prepare the nights' dinner while waiting for it to print. Have already returned once to Office works re-ink.
issues and now 6ths months later, it's about to go again. Worst and last CANON PRINTER i will purchased.
Lat printer was a Brother lasted 4 years without a hitch. Would rate it -1 if I could.

I hate it, slower than the wettest weekend.
I didn't want this after using my husband's one, so slow I go off to do other things while I wait for it to finish composing War & Peace in its mind before it gets around to printing but it supposedly saves a lot on ink costs. I'll agree with this because I now don't bother to print much as it frustrates me so much. It replaces a very old HP printer which died after many years of trouble free use. I would MUCH rather have the old HP back if I could.

I would give zero stars if I could
Claims upper tray is empty when it is not. Claims a jam when it is not. After set up- which was seamless- and test page print, I printed my own test page consisting of 1 four letter word; "test". Took 3 minutes then decided that the upper tray was jammed again. Absolute garbage. Returned to Officeworks for a refund. Last Canon product I will ever buy.
On the plus side the service from Officeworks was excellent.

I could draw faster!!
It is the slowest printer of 12 in my office and I look forward to dropping it off the roof.... which will be the fastest its ever moved!!!
I was recommended to this for my personal office by a well know printer supplier to cut down my ink usage and to save me using the companies network printer.
I now find not only is it quicker to use the network printer with 40 other staff but that it uses more ink than any other Canon I've had before except that now I have to buy multiple cartridges instead of just colour and black.
So in my... "OFFICE it don't WORKS"
It worse than terrible and I would give it no stars if I could.

Slow and painful to use
The printer looks good, is relatively cheap and connects via WiFi. But that's where the good points for this printer end. It's painfully slow to print and constantly seems to be cleaning itself. Printing 1 page takes almost a minute while you wait for it to "prepare" itself. When it finally decides its ready to print it spits the page out pretty quickly, but the wait time before it actually starts is ridiculous. It also goes through ink at an amazing rate! Overall I would not recommend this printer.
Absolute ruubish
Takes ages to start up. Constantly cleans itself. Takes ages to print. Don't bother trying to scan a multipage document. Takes in excess of 1min per page to scan. Try scanning a 30 page document. I gave up. Was tempted to throw the device out of my study window.

Can you scan negatives on a Pixma MX726? I notice there is a small film strip size panel before the A4 plate, is this specifically for negatives, if so, how do you use it? Thanks

Where is the on-line manual??!! Argh, it's just stopped, just like my last Canon!!!!

It's in the disk that come with the printer. You must select install all when you insert the disk . Than you will find a shortcut on your desktop screen.

Does anyone know the standard warranty on the Cannon Pixmar MX 626? Ours finally died. Purchased in late May 2015 and less than two years of erratic, problem-ridden use does not seem good value.
Will not be a repeat buyer of this brand.

Hi. I've been using canon printers for the last 25 to 30 years. They are the best value / performance printers on the market. But you have to pick the right model. The pixma 626 is not one of the good one's. I have the 726 wich is very good. It comes with 12 mth warranty as most printers on the market.
