B200 Error mx726
Bought this printer a couple years ago from office works the only problem i have with it is the b200 error and it in my case the print head keeps clogging up so all i do is pull the printhead out and run it under hotwater on each cartridge hole until it runs clear leave it to dry for an hour then run it under hotwater again till it runs clear you need to do top and bottom, The bottom i use Isopropyl alcohol to clean the nozzle holes when dry just put back in machine run printhead alignment and nozzle check and that fix's my problem for a while,...if i am doing a lot of printing it seems to work well but if i only use it once a month that is when i start getting the clogged printhead. The scanner works fine had no problems with that. The only downside it is heavy on ink.
Purchased in September 2017 at officeworks for $185.00.
Great printer, TERRIBLE scanner
No issues with printing jobs, it does a fantastic job!
However, when ever i need to scan it will skip pages, spit them out back to front, jam constantly, and i find the scanning programs frustrating to use, especially when trying to scan into pdfs. As scanning is a major reason i got this printer with the feeder tray, if i could do it over, i would probably get a different printer. Would suit someone perfetly who only prints.
When it works, it's alright. But it takes its sweet time about it.
When it's actually printing things, the quality is good for black, colour, and photos, the paper handling is good, the dual tray is a great addition. Price is low.
When it's scanning, the UI is simple enough, the USB input works fine, the auto document feeder works well (although scans come out a little rotated, which is annoying), and the auto duplex scanning is extremely handy (especially at this price point.
I bought this mainly because it's the only printer anywhere near this price level with an ADF duplex scanner, which means you can...automatically feed in documents and scan them double sided (which is great when going paperless). It works reasonably well but is very slow. However, others have already identified most of its flaws: - Takes approximately 20 minutes to 'warm up' the first time you need to print something after turning it on, or after it being idle for a long time - Often loses connectivity, requiring a power cycle - Often freezes on 'Ending...' requiring a hard power cycle, which presumably causes the printer to purge ink (see below) - Driiiiinks ink when not printing. Probably due to the above, and the countless cleaning cycles it does. During the last 6 months I have hardly used the printer - I have printed maybe three 6x4" photos, and about 20 pages of black text documents, and the printer has gone through a full set of colour inks (well, the Magenta is merely 'low').

Not too impressive
I've had Canon printers previously and found them to be good value for money, with good quality printing. Unfortunately, this will probably be the last Canon I purchase. The quality of the print, both documents and photos, is great, and perfect for my needs. But - it takes so damn long to get to the printing part it drives me crazy. It seem to be constantly thinking about printing, preparing to print or cleaning itself (a few less of the latter would go a long way to keeping the cartridge replacement cost down!). I've also found the scanning a...pplication very difficult to use. The scanning itself is fine, but figuring out how to save something was a different matter. The Canon Print Garden software that seems to do this is extremely cumbersome. On the plus side, the printer installed wirelessly with ease & when it stops primping and preening, the printing itself is done reasonably fast.
Questions & Answers
Can you scan negatives on a Pixma MX726? I notice there is a small film strip size panel before the A4 plate, is this specifically for negatives, if so, how do you use it? Thanks
Does anyone know the standard warranty on the Cannon Pixmar MX 626? Ours finally died. Purchased in late May 2015 and less than two years of erratic, problem-ridden use does not seem good value.
Will not be a repeat buyer of this brand.
Hi. I've been using canon printers for the last 25 to 30 years. They are the best value / performance printers on the market. But you have to pick the right model. The pixma 626 is not one of the good one's. I have the 726 wich is very good. It comes with 12 mth warranty as most printers on the market.
