TS8260 - Good but something is missing
I am happy with the printer and the prints it produces. My concern is that this is the first Canon printer that I have bought that does not supply, as part of the setup, ICC printer profiles that can be used by software such as Photoshop or Lightroom to undertake colour management. I have exchanged many messages with Canon Support and all they can suggest is that I obtain, at my cost, 3rd party profiles or rely on the printer driver giving a good result. I find this a very backward step.
TS8260 Good quality printer, with a few minor issues
I bought this because of the way it looks on my shelf, (like a high end scandinavian audio system) its price ( at $180), and the fact I always trust Canon printers. It has turned out well, with a few problems along the way. I have had many Canon printers in the past, usually more expensive. All have been excellent, and better than the many other brands I have bought over the years.
To cut to the chase, it took longer than expected to set up, and lasted 6 pages before dying, refusing to even turn on.
Went back to Officeworks, swapped it on the...

Great printer but difficult to set up
I only bought this printer (in white) mid-afternoon, then spent 3 hours getting it to connect to my computer via wi-fi. I finally found a work-around: use the printer's screen to register it on the network, download ONLY the drivers file from Canon and install just the drivers. Trying to do the job via the system as presented simply didn't work. In the midst of all that I decided to try the install from the supplied CD-ROM (Canon's default is to do it via the internet download) but the CD wouldn't load (and I did test the reader with another RO...M, and it works). All a darn shame as it seems to be a great printer. I'm not the only one with the problem- my research turned up others, but I figured I could do better (as I did, eventually). A completely unexpected (and undocumented everywhere I had researched) surprise is the facility to print directly to printable CD/DVDs. It is highly configurable from the quite responsive touch screen. I haven't tried any of the packaged software, although I have installed the scan utility which also appears to be very capable.
Questions & Answers
My TS8260 printer is going through the motions of printing but the ink is not appearing on the paper! The trouble shooter says it can't find the fault? The ink tanks are fine?? Please help!
Are your cartridges empty? No, because the ink levels would be available to see in the app, or on the printer screen.
If you have recently changed cartridges, are the new ones properly clicked down into their housings?
Are you using conventional printing paper? ( Some plasticised paper is finicky about ink.)
Is the paper coming out of the printer, as if the job had finished normally, or is it simply making a lot of "printing" noise?
You may have already done this, but lift the scanner platen to expose the ink cartridge compartment, and check out the cartridges to see if anything looks amiss.
Check the software settings on your computer/laptop, to ensure you haven't requested reverse printing , (white on black, instead of black on white).
Check the document you are trying to print to see if it has any special instructions for the printer. ( go into the normal print dialogue for this document on your computer and check all the settings.)
If all else fails, uninstall the printer, reinstall the printer, and try again.
Why does my Canon Pixma TS 8260 use a lot of Ink ??
Are you printing black and white documents or graphics using colour settings?
Is your "paper" colour set to sepia or a shade or tint other than white? ( background colour can chew a lot of coloured ink.)
Are you still using the starter cartridges that came with the printer, because they are much smaller in capacity than regular cartidges and could make it look like you are using a lot of ink?
Without looking at your settings and the issues mentioned above your question is difficult to answer.
