So many drop outs and freezes, kenwood support completely ignores tickets
So where do I start, for a $1100 head unit this thing stinks.
Preamble, i've now written to Kenwoods australia support email 3 times with no reply in almost a month.
Unit mutes music - At toll points this thing randomly just mutes, won't pause what you're listening to, so every toll point along the M7 (every few minutes) you'll just lose 10 seconds of audio.
Unit randomly exits screen - This thing will just randomly decide it doesn't want your navigation to display, and will send you back to the home screen.
Waze intergration - I made it so...very crystal clear to the installers this was the primary function I wanted from the unit. So start your car up, start driving, and the unit thinks your stationary where you parked. Reset your phone, and you've got about a 50% chance this will update the GPS to your current location, if not you have to turn the whole car off and hope that fixes it. I've driven 1:20hrs to work, with the waze app still showing i'm in my driveway going 0km/ph. Navigation speed display to headunit - after updating the unit's software (trying to hope this would fix some of the above), the speed displayed on the unit now will flick between 95-105. Every few seconds. This is with cruise control set firmly.

Wifi on my Ddx9020dabs always disconnect from my phone .
Bought a Kenwood ddx9020dabs , every time I’m on my phone , the wifi on the unit always disconnects automatically, so annoying !!!!!!!!!!
How do I resolve this problem? I have the latest updates on both phone and head unit . Should of bought Alpine !!!!!!

Read the YouTube reviews on all the kewood range headunits, the issues are similar across the board.
The digital radio cuts in and out and Kenwood cannot fix that. It's DAB issue.
The screen mirroring application is so out of date that no recent phone in 4 years can connect.
The Google voice assistant does not work.
The HEMA maps are for international only.
If you're in Australia do not buy this product, send Kenwood a message and stay clear.
They haven't updated the support for this product and for over $1000 the only part of this unit that works is the cd tray and standard radio.. don't make the mistake of spending $1000 on something that a Supercheap $80 special will do.

i brought this stereo when it was first released from extreme car audio blacktown from the first day i had problems with the digital radio reception
the factory toyota unit had digital radio and no problems, i think kenwoods radio reciever is just inferior, and now the bluetooth music is staring to cut in and out
ive taken the radio back to extreme and they contacted kenwood reps and nothing
i asked for a replacement unit or money back and nothing
take your hard earned money and research before purchasing
now going to call consumer affairs

They call it dabs for the digital radio. Digital Audio Broadcasting System. Dabs works great if you use a secondary app off the phone. My digital radio drops out constantly. Also when bluetoothing music from my phone it "mutes" in the middle of a song. Though it isn't actually muted. The song is still playing but you can't hear it. If I jump it to the next song it's ok. Not that good when everyone is getting into a song and it just cuts out. $1500+ with installation wasted on this junk. Never buying Kenwood again

Way overpriced and no support
These units looks great on paper and boast everything under the sun, but it does most things poorly. The interface is disjointed like it's been hacked together and by programmed by 10 different people that weren't on the same page. Using features is clunky, many of them just failed to work.
Kenwoods support is beyond atrocious, they just bother replying and don't care. Managed to get someone on Facebook who cant help with anything, referred me to the service department who just dont respond. For a high end unit you have dropped $1,000 on this ...is completely unacceptable to be completely ignored by support over features that just don't work. This unit has been a huge backwards step from the old factory unit in my 2007 car, i've actually lost features and got a unit that's more cumbersome to use. Avoid at all costs and look at alternate brands.
Still needs a lot of development
The Kenwood series still have a lot of flaws. Android auto will constantly freeze or go black screen. They have a stupid warning everytime the rear cameras engages. You have to press the screen to remove the warning. It makes it a bit dangerous having to take 1 hand off the wheel to remove the warning. If you don't remove it, it will block part of the screen and you might hit a car or person.
Kenwood is a company like so many modern companies that just want to continually develop new products rather than fixing old products.

I've always used Android Auto wirelessly with my ddx9019dabs and it's been working pretty good. The last couple of months however my phone calls have been breaking up through the head unit but working fine when using my phone on loud speaker. Is there a solution for this?
Can you please let me know why my Kenwood DDX9019DABS media player will not display Track names when using the CD Player. I have tried Multiple CD's and while they all play, no track names ever come up, only the song number. The System is not in Demo mode and is playing in the correct mode. I have also switched to the correct setting on the remote for playing CD's but still no joy!

What I’ve noticed is when passing under or near high voltage power lines CarPlay disconnects and sometimes radio shuts down?
