Nice fabric but bad poles

published

I bought actually 3 person tent using catch.com. In first packup the pole was broken. Catch immediately sent me another item.
This review is to help others before decide to buy this tent. I found tent fabric material is very good and can stand a good storm. Used two nights in high wind and rain camping. But in pole is probably very bad material used. It broke twice in two spots. Given the price, there are many better choices. So avoid if you want something durable.

Purchased in November 2020 for $150.00.

Purchased tent via credit card rewards, used last weekend for first time, went up and set up without a hitch, no adverse weather so hard to rate level of weather proofing, as tents go fine. Fun begins when trying to put genie back in the bottle, item 6 of instruction "a little pressure is required here don't worry it won't break" yeah mine did. Not sure I want to repair it, have just purchased a stock standard Oztrail dome tent, a little longer to pitch but at least it will come down and I can use it again.

Purchased in October 2019 for $160.00.

Failed on first trip

published

Great tent, really looking forward to the camping. Slept in it 1 night and all good. Went to fold it up & the metal tube that holds the 2 fibreglass ends together tore. The metal actually tore, sheared open. Must be soft metal & not up to the task.

Issue is with the supplier (Kelly's camping) who "hope" to be able to do something to assist.

Will need to wait a few weeks (as the Caribee rep only stops in fortnightly) before I get a response.

Will update once I know their position on the failed tent.
Pops up well
Poor quality materials - metal tube failed on first use & tent is unusable.

I have just opened up my Carabee 3 person instant pop up tent and found that the fibreglass frame rod has snapped rendering the tent useless. Is there any comeback on the supplier? Can the fibreglass rod be replaced and how would I tackle that? The pop up tent concept is great but a downer when it fails structurally. Answers please, Alan
