advertising worked well with several enquiries, car sold at reasonable price after negotiation with buyer, transaction conducted successfully in a friendly manner,
Easy site to sell on
Excellent web site, easy to communicate with potential buyers, would recommend selling on Carsales. If I have another car to sell in the future I will sell on Carsales.
requested review of carsales experience
no fee for low price cars
website is more or less better than other sites
carsales, rightly or wrongly is the best known car selling site
Carsales is like a stalker - watching what you look at, then sending texts and emails trying to get me to use other services, buy the car, etc, etc. I'm done - sick of being spied on.
Rip off use Facebook
I was scammed straight away...someone else has my details on there add...I sent through a compliant straight away and still waiting for reply from you...very very very poor customer service...pathetic really...never use again
Use someone else...rip-off
Sold through Car Sales.com.au
Advertising was reasonable cost and sold through Car Sales. Car Sales is definately the household name. I would use again.
Hopeless, 4 days to forward an email enquiry!
I made an email enquiry asking for some further information on a car they had advertised, after not getting a reply for 4 days I rang the seller to find out the car had been sold, an hour later I get an email from carsales confirming my enquiry had been sent, a full 4 days after making it, carsales response? Sorry, sometimes technology fail us, coming from a business which is built entirely around technology? Appalling, seriously, use gumtree or facebook, they're free!
Good selling experience overall
Good selling experience overall. Fairly easy to write the add did find it a little difficult where to many questilns being asked.
Just sold my second car in a month using Carsales.com.au. This time the ad was free (being at a low price point) As such it attracted a couple of time wasters but after three weeks and four callers it sold. Have tried other agencies but this one is the best. As a car guy I browse a lot and Carsales is my first port of call to find interesting cars and get a feel for prices. The resources offered are also really useful.
Very happy with site. Lots of calls, messages and enquiries (some genuine buyers) and sold for cash within 4 hours
Happily use Carsales again, was an easy sale, just a bit challenging for a female who doesn't know anything about cars to answer all the questions.
Terrible Customer Service for the Dealer Platform
Does not reply to queries, despite numerous follow ups. Will continue to send invoice reminders when they have misallocated payments. The level of customer service received from their dealer accounts team is abhorrent to say the least. I would not recommend them to anyone and its no wonder dealers are switching over to other platforms.
Good selling median, but the process could be improved
Car sold reasonably well and had no problem with the overall experience
Some of the advertising options are a bit sketchy
Not real keen on the constant upselling
Tends to be a bit tricky to NOT say yes by mistake
Sold my vehicle quickly.
Carsales gets a lot of coverage so many people see my add. I sold my car in 3 weeks. Thanks carsales.
Not happy! Paid fortune for ad got more interest from facebook posts.
Listed premium ad $150+ the only contacts we got were from carsales themselves offering extremely low offers.
By comparison we posted the same thing on facebook for free and have had dozens of messages.
Complete rip-off carsales definitely doesn't have any reach to get buyers.
Listed two cars on Carsales but both got sold via Marketplace
Honestly I do regret listing my car and wasting that amount of money. I listed same cars on Marketplace and ended up selling both there. I do recommend Marketplace as first option.
Expensive, scams and more!
Way too expensive, not one enquiry after 2 weeks. Sold on Facebook marketplace in 3days with zero cost. I would expect carsales to continue to loose business, I will not be using again, other than the ridiculous price to list my car, I received so much more spam and dodgy scams . Lift your game
Carsales is very easy to use, fast response, great community. There are so many handy tools and guides that helps both buyer and seller to close the deal.
Wouldn't use it ever again!!
Not even a genuine single buyer contacted me whilst my ad had been on carsales network. I had put it on the lowest possible price. Just 2 days ago put the ad on gumtree and sold it at a price of $8900.
Easy to use.
Very easy platform to use. Ad creation was so quick and helpful for a first time seller. Great ways to communicate with buyers.
Questions & Answers
Might be a dumb question but how do you mark your car as sold on your ad? I only have an option to pause the ad
Hey Kylie, not a silly question at all! We're actually looking to improve this function. Just under the 'pause ad' button you'll see 'remove ad', hit that then follow the prompts to remove your ad. If you have any trouble, give us a bell on 13 72 53 (13 SALE). -Alex
sorry I meant 'on hold'
Hey Kylie, To put your ad on hold click 'pause ad'. See the link below for more details.

If a car is put on hold how can you contact the seller if the option of sending them a message isn’t available?
In my case I called/rang the seller and thankfully She answered it and there's a phone/mobile nos. that She provided anyway .
Hi Jacqueline, if a seller has put their ad on hold you wont be able to contact them unless you their number or messaged them before the ad was put on hold. If you have the ad saved and they remove the hold you'll get a notification. -Alex
How do a message a seller that has place a car on hold ?
Well as for me , you either ask him/her to message you back if that person did not fulfill/buy that car ! Its up to the seller anyway !
Hi Milica and Evangeline, if a seller has put their ad on hold, it could be for a variety of reasons. You will only be able to contact them if you've previously messaged them (before the ad was put on hold) or obtained their phone number when the ad was live. If you're interested in the car, we'd suggest keeping the ad saved as you'll get an alert if it's taken off hold and advertised again. It's possible the car has been sold and the seller has stopped the ad for the moment while they ensure the sale if final. -Alex
