I ordered and paid around $3500 for 8 x Eames walnut DCM chairs on 5 July 2019. They arrived in October 2019. On inspection, they had been sanded back but not finished properly. The sandpaper marks were still clearly visible and the chairs were covered in fine sawdust (see photo). Also, where the black rubber had been touched up, the paint had not been removed from the timber seat back (see photo). I sent an email with photographs to Chicicat requesting them to be finished. After getting no response, I sent another email. I was told to ..."apply a little wax" which Chicicat would gladly provide to my Sydney postal address and they would also refund $50. In my view, this was unacceptable. A month later, one of the backs fell off the chair (see photo). It was obvious to me that the chairs had been shipped directly from China without any intervention from or inspection by the Chicicat people. There was no quality control and Chicicat took no responsibility for the unfinished product. A poor reproduction and poor service. [names removed] would be turning in their graves!
Peeling Paint on "Platinum Quality Italian Aniline Leather"
I ordered an ivory italian aniline Antonio Citterio straight leather sofa. From what I understand, and from what is advertised on the site, aniline leather is the highest quality leather. It is dyed to achieve its colour, not painted. Within a year, my sofa began to peel a very heavy painted coating. The surface always appeared to be more like vinyl rather than leather, as the the heavy coating of paint fills in the grain and makes it appear rubbery and flat. Now in it's second year, the finish is rapidly peeling off. It has had light usage and...I have never treated it with any chemicals or detergents.. I have two other pieces of white aniline leather in my house that are over 12 years old and get more wear than this sofa - I've never seen anything like this. The finish is a disappointing fake leather and not at all as specified. In addition to the poor quality leather finish, he memory foam has lots it's memory. Sitting down on the sofa, you immediately hit a piece of steel or wood. Not at all comfortable.
Disappointing in every way
We ordered and paid for a Grant Featherstone replica chair on 10 July 2019. It was delivered on 22 November - 19 weeks after we ordered it. This significant delay was supposedly due to improvements in the design of the chair. While I am happy with the fabric we chose, the chair build is very disappointing as there is very little padding in the seat so it is quite hard and uncomfortable. By comparison my Matt Blatt Featherstone replica chair is much more comfortable and was considerably cheaper. I would not use Chicicat again.
Just shy of a 6 month wait for delivery!! Dont buy if you want your items quickly.
I purchased 2 armchairs on January 9th. They were delivered today May 25th. The page on the website said deliver between 8-14 weeks. The wait is unacceptable. I will never purchase from this company again.
I had a completely custom made sofa by BoConcept delivered in 10 weeks from Germany. 20 weeks for these chairs from China is just stupid!
Upon receiving the chairs today, the black powder coating has streaks through it. It looks like it was done with a brush. For taking this long I was expecting perfect quality. I would complain to them but...
Rocking myself in a corner!
This gift from my husband before the birth of our second child was supposed to be something to enjoy and treasure. The experience has been disappointing beyond belief.
I will and have complimented Chicicat on the quality and structure of the chair itself. However it was sent to us with the incorrect coloured cushions, charcoal grey instead of light oatmeal. A simple problem to fix one would think. Not so.
Our original order took 17 weeks to arrive and there was no contact or updates initiated by Chicicat until week 16. When the chair arrive...
Very dodgy company buyer beware
This company is very dodgy. Let me explain why I said that.
Upon seeing good reviews from this website i pulled the trigger and placed an order for eames lounge chair online, that was late night about 11pm. But the next day I decided to cancel my order because I couldn't bare to pay that much money for a replica furniture. So I called them in the morning at 8am. And I asked them to cancel my order and this is where it fets really sneaky and dodgy. Let me put a timeline here:

Ridiculous delay & lousy customer service
Dont waste your time, shop around and you'll find a deal on the chairs you want without the ridiculous wait. My order took 5 months to get to me. Who in their right mind would want to wait this long for dining chairs!!
"8 week lead time" is absolute blatant lies.
I would agree with the common them from the other negative comments about poor customer service and ridiculous delivery delays. You won't get a call back from them. They won't let you know if there's a delay. You'll have to keep calling them and when you do you should expect to be told that your order has slipped through the cracks. Well I can tell you there's no cracks here, just huge holes. I've waited five months so far and they still don't even know where the chair is. Fraud? Perhaps!
If your store is supposed to open at 10am, be there!
We visited the Crows Nest show room of Chicicat today (Sat 12 March) to check out some furniture. It took us 40 mins to get there. Even though the website stated that the store would be open at 10am, it was closed when we arrived at that time. The guy manning the store didn't arrive until after 10:30am. We noticed other customers peering in the windows at 10am too. It's pretty annoying to make a specific trip to see a store and then to arrive and it not be open when it should be. Perhaps the store person needs to invest in a trusty alarm to make it there on time for opening hours.
Hans Wagner Wing Chair..Baseline: you get what you pay for.
I ordered and paid for a Hand Wagner Replica Wing Chair (base line model) in July 2015. It was about $650 including shipping. I was advised that the wait time was 12 weeks; they weren't lying...we waited the full 12 weeks. When the chair arrived it looked great...but within 3 weeks we were already feeling the wooden frame in the chair base, arms and footstool. Then the bottom of the seat fell out; literally.
I called Chicicat, and spoke with a lady who I can only image was one of the owners/managers. The conversation went along the lines of.....
Long waiting and lack of communication
After 4 months of waiting, my chair has finally arrived. The quality looks to be ok (too early to tell until something happens). Will I order from them again? Probably not. The waiting experience and lack of communication are the issue. My husband was questioning whether they have been out of business.
I was told the delay was due to waiting for parts. After 10 weeks ordering the chair was still in production. There was no communication at all to advise me what was happening until I contacted them. After the production, it took a month for shipping and delivery. Seriously it is the slower production I have experienced.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Do not use this company. They take 3-4 months to deliver and may not even be in business by then given the shocking/non existent customer service.
Wait time unacceptable and the assembly a pain - screws did not align!
I'll keep this short and sweet. Pay a little extra and get your items from another supplier. Unless you're happy to wait close to 4 months. Assembly was meant to be simple, only if the holes where the screws went were aligned properly. In the end, I managed to screw in 7 out of the 8 screws that were meant to go in. Will never buy from this supplier again.
Disgraceful customer service, shocking time wait and non existent follow up
I spent 3 months researching for a supplier of Replica Saarinen fibreglass and leather cushions, when I finally settled on Chicicat initial my online conversations with one of the male staff members informed me there would be a possible delay because of the up coming Chinese New Year holiday, we discussed my required time line and was ensured that I would get my order by end of March early April, when April came around, my online status had still not been updated from in production back at Jan 28th, so I called, which I only got a answer messag...e, I left a message with my details including my number, the following afternoon I still had no reply, so called again, and was offered as excuse by the owner that she had been on the phone non stop, which at this stage she told me I was conveniently on her list to call to advise there was a delay to now possibly rand of April or early-mid May, they were well aware from my initial order these 9 chairs were for a business to be able to operate and open its doors with time line of end of March early April. At this point I expressed my total frustration and their delays and nothing but excuses were offered of how difficult it is to deal with importing from China. Come early May again I had to call to get an update as still no change online status of my order, again it took several calls back the filling day for me to speak again to the female owner to find a reasonable time line for delivery as my business a hair salon cannot operate without seat for clients to sit on, I also advised her that a reasonable company would offer some kind of substitute chairs to allow my business to open, which her response was we don't do that you will have to organise that yourself! Appaling customer service and conflict resolution! With this call I was told that there was a container leaving soon and my things COULD be on that, for which I HAD to request that she call and confirm exactly what stag my order was at given that she couldn't tell me and there was still no change on my online status, that was a Thursday in early May and had given reasonable timeline of reply by the following Monday or Tuesday, which AGAIN, I did not hear from them by the Tuesday and had to yet again call them, to which I was advised that 5 of my 9 chairs where in the container and at sea as we spoke, and I would be advised as soon as they passed customs and were in their warehouse....surprise surprise over two weeks later I had to call again and the guy says yeah they're in the warehouse and have been for days!!! This was not the end of it, but quite frankly I don't even have the energy to go into the further problems I had with their communication or lack thereof, thei ability to take responsibility and simply say, you know what, this is really terrible, please accept my apologies, how can we rectify this situation, finally I received 5 chairs Friday 22nd May then the delivery has been messed around on the remaining 4 chairs which again lack of communication caused them to be delivered without prior arrangement so no one was present, then a circus act was required to get them booked for re-delivery tomorrow. Let's pray they deliver in the time advised that I will be present and that they are what I did actually order. I will not be ordering the remaining 8 chairs that I require and as they are the only company which offer the cream colour that I want I will change my interior by going tpwith a whole new chair from most certainly different company, I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!! This has been a hideous experience. I was advise many years ago the most vital piece of advise for anyone in any form of costumer service or contact that when faced with a complaint, as an owner, employee or representation of any business we should see it as an opportunity to make their experience so much better for the way in which a problem is dealt with and handled, often this is what will ensure a customer to show loyalty and recommend to their friends your business. [name removed], I hope you read this and learn from this experience and offer everyone of you customers a much better service and interaction.
