Unprofessional company
I can not rate bells removals low enough in terms of communication. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. The sad thing is that I specifically chose bells removals for my move from Queensland to tasmania to support a local tasmanian business. My complaint and bad review is not because it took over two months for my furniture to arrive, or with the way in which my items were handled, my horrible experience and warning to others is entirely due to the communication from bells removals, in particular Chris bell.

The worst move I have ever had!!
I have utilised several different removalist companies at least half a dozen times being an ex-serviceman and have never had an issue prior to using Bells. I unfortunately chose the wrong company to return back to my home town... Bells are by far the worst company I have dealt with.
Initially chose Bells based on 10+ year old recommendations. The company is definitely not what it previously once was.
Early in the piece Bells communication was lacking, with poor correspondence and unanswered questions.
Bells utilised a partnering company to ...Read more
pick up our goods from NSW which was all good. 1st problem was Bells underestimated the amount of goods we had, after we wrote an insurance sheet out with every item we had. No one came out to assess the quantity required. Bells were blas about the whole situation. Every other removal company I have dealt with have had someone come out and calculate both quantity and value of items. 2nd problem - The NSW partner were instructed by Bells to not bring any storage boxes and our items would be ready and packed by owner - despite us paying for the packing service which was a requirement of the insurance we purchased through Bells. On the morning of the removal I had to race out to buy 20+ boxes for all our goods... Not what you want to be doing when your whole house is getting packed.Similar opinion? Yet another bad Bells experience.
We moved a house load of furniture and personal effects from Qld to Tas. The moving guys were great - on time, polite, friendly, professional. The goods were delivered 0n time, but with a very expensive leather sofa damaged - affected by weather exposure or rained on!! We also are sure smaller items we packed never arrived eg a brass plant stand and terracotta pot. After over 8 mths we have had to go to Consumer Affairs. Even after we told Bells that’s what we are doing, and they promised action, still no follow up. The sofa remains damaged....Read more
The sofa repairer visited once, finally, months ago. He tested a product that seemed to work. We have not been able to get him back or get Bells to respond or take action. 1. Do not bother with their insurance. It is an expensive rort. 2. Spend the money instead on the company that truly carries your items in one truck, from door to door, not Bells who use multiple trucks and storage.Similar opinion? Moving from the mainland? Just buy new stuff.
To be honest, as some other interstate moves have said this was terrible service start to go. They wouldn't confirm a pickup date or a drop off date, took so many phone calls, never called back or followed up on anything they said they would. My stuff arrived dirty, including my bed and sofa so this was not worth it at all. Transit time was six weeks. I wanted to move my things from interstate mostly because I thought it was wasteful to buy new things for no reason, but in retrospect my advice for people moving to Hobart would be to buy stuff from a furniture/appliance company online and get them to deliver it the day after you arrive because this just made me stressed and depressed about the whole move.

AVOID
Appalling. I had booked to move furniture from the mainland to Tasmania, and chose Bell's because they were affordable, but also Tasmanian (which made me think they would have done this move so many times before, they were the experts). From the initial stages of getting a quote and trying to secure a pick up date, it was NEVER easy. The communication from the office was non existent, even when they would promise to 'email you back this afternoon', 'call you back today/tomorrow/ever' - they NEVER did. I was always chasing them up.
Finally the ...Read more

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY
Chris Bell inspected the contents of our 3 bedroom rural property for a move from NW Tasmania to the South Coast of NSW. The quote was provided and accepted with the packing to be done by Bells on the 15th November 2017 and uplift on the 16th November. On the uplift, the Bell's employees were unable to fit all of the contents into the container which they had brought and it was arranged to collect the balance on the 18th November, the day that we were leaving our sold property and booked onto the Spirit of Tasmania. The slats and central sup...Read more
port for our bed were left in the bedroom and separated from the bed with the bedhead, foot, side rails and mattress going on the truck on the first pickup. The second load was collected on the 18th as arranged, however, all items weren't labelled because the workers had run out of labels. They reassured us that this would be rectified later in the day and that everything would be Ok when both loads would be amalgamated into one. The Bells' semi trailer arrived at our destination in NSW on the 25th November, however, our second load hadn’t been included with the first. We were unable use our bed because the slats and supports were still in transit. Chasing them up, advice was given that the missing second load was to be delivered on the 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and finally 22 December but none of these deliveries eventuated. Information was given that our goods were apparently loaded onto the front of the truck and couldn't be delivered in time for the driver to meet his commitments back in Melbourne after travelling to various destinations in NSW and the Qld border. The second load was finally left in a depot in Sydney and picked up by a contractor who arrived in a courier-type van from Sydney on the 27th December. This delivery was incomplete however, with cartons broken and missing and other items still missing. We did receive the bed slats however, the central supports were missing and we were still unable to use our bed. Bells had lost part of the load (some of which was later found at their depot in Hobart) and the bed slats delivered to us had too many slats for the bed. We never did receive the central supports for the bed.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Untrustworthy Cowboys
We moved our furniture from NSW to Tasmania. When we received our furniture at the other end, we found that they had damaged our bikes (pulled the break and gear wires) dented our fridge and washing machine. punched holes on our couches and left scuff marks and dents on our chars and tables. They also snapped the lid off our bin. Despite the fact that the people who delivered the furniture witnessed the damaged they refused to even apologise when we complained to the company and they denied it all. They even said the furniture was in the exact condition it was when uplifted, which is rubbish.
We chose them because they were cheaper than others however, it is clear there was a reason for it.

Very disappointing
We have moved house 4 times in the past 5 years with no mishaps. For this, our 5th move, we used bells to take approx 20 boxes and a few items of furniture from Queensland to Tasmania. 16 items were broken, including non-reflecting glass in two photo frames and a very expensive dining table was smashed.
When we contacted bells about the damage, they denied any responsibility because
1. We didn't take out insurance with them and
2. We failed to inform them within two days after the move.
So we are left with the bills - more than $1200.
I'd like to advise you all strenuously NOT to use this company, but I see a lot of their customers are very happy.

Very disappointing
We had no problem organising the move and our goods arrived on time however our dining table and lounge were damaged and although we bought their insurance we are still trying to get the items fixed or replaced.
This is now 3 months on from our move, countless emails later, being told that we need to source repairers and they would not recommend anyone that we could use. Shop around!!!

Untrustworthy
Booked 2 months ahead to move 1 bedroom house from Sydney to Launceston. They rang 2 weeks prior to uplift to say they have no trucks in the area on that date and want to put it forward a week (Can't even give me an exact date for that). Notice given to landlord, he has other tenants moving in, utilities cut off on uplift! I rang the next day to cancel, and they wanted to "negotiate"! What? They suddenly have available trucks? Let down once, unable to trust they won't do it again. I am betting they took a more lucrative booking in favour of my small 1 bedroom house. Don't rely on them. Untrustworthy!

Worst customer service ever
I had two storage boxes of household items stored in Melbourne and contacted Bells to get a quote to move them to Tasmania. Things seemed to go fine until they turned up to collect the items. They said they had made an error in their quote and it was only for one storage box. As a result, they wanted us to pay double the fee quoted. Despite this being their error, they would not take any responsibility for the error and asked that I print and sign an amended quote.
I gave them the exact specifications when I contacted them and assumed that ...Read more
they had read and understood my email. All correspondence with them used the term "as specified". That they would put us in a situation, at the last minute, with little other alternative and demand over $1000 extra at the last moment reeks of major incompetence at best. Luckily, the storage company was understanding and I was able to cancel the move. This does however, put me back at square one and out of pocket for the time, phone calls and other costs setting this move up.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

I'm not sure what i paid, which is good as i got nothing...
Stay away from this company. I used Bells as it was recommended by someone who knew me. Obviously they received better treatment than I did. The removalists who picked up my furniture bought their son with them whom they made responsible for listing my goods. Half way through they lost count and stated they only needed to list the big stuff for insurance purposes. When the child decided he needed a rest, he sat on my furniture whilst waiting to put it in the truck. Bells did not communicate with me at all during my move, any communication...Read more
was when I instigated it, and replies were slow coming. They packed a tent into my fish tank and of course smashed it. The removalists who dropped my furniture off spent the whole time telling me how bad my furniture was packed. Some poor other person who had some of their furniture in the same container (unbeknownst to the gents in the truck who had no paperwork for it) had their furniture placed on the ground in my paddock as it was in the way. I asked them to place my furniture in a container at the end as we have not found a house yet. I pointed out dust sheets for them to use, they didn't. They used some of their hessian to place around my couch (that was nice of them) but then proceeded to push boxes and other such things over the top of my chest of drawers and dining table and scratch both surfaces. They refuse to take responsibility for that saying I shouldn't have asked them to put it all back into another container. I took insurance out with another company as theirs was extremely expensive, but I am pretty sure they won't cover me for an absolute lack of respect, complete carelessness and an inability for Bells to take responsibility for their own action or inaction. Never use this company if you like yourself or your belongings to be treated with any kind of care or respect.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!
One of the worst services ever paid for
This company was terrible. We used them for an interstate move. First of all the guy that picked up our things was two hours late, told us horror stories about other peoples moves and then when our stuff was delivered we had found all our fragile items crushed underneath heavy items, and some things missing. Follow up service from the company was almost non-existent. We spent a lot of time chasing them up only to be given the run around. The company could do with customer service training for its employees. Basically we paid for a service and all we got was missing and broken items and a could-care-less attitude from staff.
Bad customer service, bad complaint follow up, broken and missing items
