Got to give Coles the thumbs up.
We has a not at fault accident. From the word go, customer service was excellent - the call centre was very helpful, the loss assessor was fair and the person who did the settlement (Dianne) was great. The online claim management system was good for tracking the claim. Would insure with Coles again based on this experience.
Have been most courteous and prompt insurance i have dealt with.
I have unfortunately had to make a claim after an at fault accident. I struggled a little with the online claim process so called and was helped by a wonderful lady. I went to the preferred repairer which happens to be the one i had to take my vehicle to when i was with RACV and had a claim where i wasnt at fault. Lovely repairer. I had further questions and called online, spoke to jamie and he made me feel very comfortable and assisted me instantly.
You see how good they are when you need them, couldnt be happier.
Been with them for years claimed once
This driver ran into the back of me at traffic lights, it was so easy to make a claim over the phone. It took around about 10 minutes and my car was booked in for repair the following week. Could not be happier with Coles insurance and the operator was very pleasant to deal with

I've recently gone through the process of claiming against my policy and found the experience to be very efficiently managed and satisfying. I've been with Coles now for about 2 years.
I'd accidently scraped the side of my car (dented 2 doors, mudguard and rim) against the front of a parked car - totally my fault and yes I left a note under their windscreen - this was at 2.30pm on Tuesday so I went straight home checked online to find out how to make a claim. I chose to fill out the online form and submitted the claim at about 3.45pm.
By 5pm ...
It all went surprisingly well?!
So a guy in a Ute backed into my parked Kluger and made a massive dent in the passenger door (I’m in Brisbane). I sent my claim through online (I’ve never had to do a claim before, and thankfully we had the guy’s name, address, photo of licence) and was told to make a booking at the repairer for an assessment which I did for the following week. My husband and I were really worried after reading these reviews and were expecting the absolute worst.
I got a call from a nice lady from Coles insurance making sure I’d booked in, which I had, so no ...problems there. I was still really worried, waiting for things to go pear shaped. I rock up at Motorserve Banyo, which is probably the nicest repair workshop I’ve ever seen. The girls on the desk are super helpful. I’m expecting an assessment and to be sent home to wait for Coles to approve the claim and to have to come all the way back again. I’ve barely made myself a cuppa at the coffee and tea station when the assessor comes out and tells me they’d like to keep it for a week and can I please take everything out of the car. Hang on a sec?! That’s it?? But Coles hasn’t approved anything?! I haven’t organised the rental car side of things to get home today?! Oh we have, your rental car is over there waiting for you. Ummmmmm okaaaaaay. Back I go, into the office, where the lovely lady from Thrifty sets me up with a new Nissan Xtrail. Here I was thinking they’d throw me and my two kid’s car seats into an old bubble of some sort. Nope. We like to give you a car that is similar to the one you are having repaired she tells me. No complaints there. I pay my $100 rental deposit and off I go. I get daily texts from the Repairer letting me know which stage they’re up to and if they’re on track. I end up getting my car back two days early and it’s looking impeccable. At one point I said to the Motorserve Repair girls, I’ve read so many bad reviews about Coles Insurance that I keep waiting for something to go wrong. They gave me this “we get that all the time” look and had a laugh.
Coles insurance will shaft you
1. Claim in since March
2. Claim approved and agreed on
3. Coles make excuse after excuse as to why they cant pay just yet
4. Multiple complaints, multiple phone calls - nothing
5. Look at all the bad reviews, do not sign up, they will shaft you.
6. The employees knowingly work for a shafty company - sad
The Bad Reviews are piling up!
After a stressful encounter with a person who had broken into my car and was trying to get it started it while I was waiting for the police, I was feeling much better after lodging a claim and spoke to a helpful consultant on the phone who assured me as it wasn't my fault and the offender was in custody so I wouldn't be liable to pay the excess amount. The next day I received a phone call and a person 'advised' me to try and retrieve the money from the offender through small claims court. Now my car is kept hostage at the repairers unless I pay the excess. I have emailed requesting answers without response. Appalling situation which now will need to reported to ASIC
Can’t wait to never have to deal with this company again.
My car was written off 8 and a half weeks ago not my fault. I still haven’t received my payout even though I have been told it has been processed and approved a number of times. Every time I call up to see how the progress is going they say they will process now and the money will be in my bank in 3-5 days. It’s been 2 weeks and 3 phone calls and apparently it only got approved today. I have heard this numerous times so we will see.
Also apparently I don’t receive a refund on my insurance as I only paid it in January. Keep in mind this acci...dent wasn’t my fault so shouldn’t I receive some sort of refund??? This whole process has been so disappointing and frustrating. I will never insure any of my property with coles ever again and I will be warning everyone to stay away. Im a day away from calling fair trading.
Shocking. Avoid at all cost
Will send you in circles to get claim through. Lost the count of times I had called through. You’ll be waiting 20 munutes to get through, and then when you good get through, they hang up or phone drops out. They had to send out two assessors to convince them of my claim and they tried getting to excess claims out of me when it was clearly one. Their approach defied logic and at the end the second assessor was able to clearly see it was once claim on my repairs. At the end it worked out but they certainly give you a run around and was a stressf...ul experience. In all fairness one person i spoke to at the end before the claim went through was an understanding gentleman and showed the care factor. Apart from that, the worst experience, will not recommend to anyone.
My personal experience
I had coles car comprehensive switching from aami 5 years ago. Coles' premium was lower and initially was hesitant about it, due to the many negative reviews, but decided to go ahead anyway. Similar to many families, the cost is an important factor and insurance is something you hope you never have to use.
My partner had 2 accidents in the past 3 years. The first accident, hit a stationary vehicle, the claim was straightforward. Called up coles and they said we need to send our car to the assessor (repairer) to assess the damage. I had to cal...l them up twice before they finally managed to assign a nearby assessor. In my opinion, 2 calls to Coles is not too bad. The repair was done well and have no complaints. The second accident, a car smash into our rear. Called Coles and they directed us to send our car to the allocated repairer. No fuss. Probably its because its the other drivers' fault. Both claims repairs were straightforward, completed within 2 months. The service was very good. I have moved my other car's insurance to Coles as well. Based my experience, I would recommend.
Quick efficient service
Changing my card for premium payment and easy to gain deferring payment of premium. Their repair service and claim procedure was quick and efficient accompanied with advice support! They recognize your loyalty!

Nothing but good service
When I signed up with coles insurance, I was unaware of their bad reputation. I still don't understand why they have such a bad reputation. I have had two claims through coles within the last year and a bit, one was a parking accident (entirely my fault, ran into a pole) and the other was a huge hail storm that came through. Both experiences were incredibly easy, and coles were nothing but helpful the whole time. I am certainly looking at using them again for my new car. :)
Claim time is working hours only
My first and last experience with coles. From the With bit of headaches but finally they wrapped it up and got it finalized. Except the claim time which is only on working days. It means if you have an accident on Friday night you need to wait till Monday morning and find a towing company to take your car and then they compensate
They have been great with two accidents we had. We were not at fault , they went to lengths to help us from the time we called them to the time we got home. Best customer service when you call them .

Hi Peter, thanks for taking the time to get in touch and we're sorry for the delay in our response. Regretfully, we don't have access to our customers accounts via this platform and we recommend giving us a call on 1300 265 374, and our Customer Support Team will be happy to assist you further.
Why do you have the worst reviews of any insurer?
Because you pay your premium and when you need to claim and expect to be covered, Coles Insurance actively finds a way to avoid paying and walks away from you in your time of need.
But let’s hear it from Coles. Funny how all the positive reviews are from people who have never claimed. I fail to understand the logic of providing a review on an insurer unless you’ve made a claim.
