So far no coverage issues.
I decided to give Coles mobile a shot, because of the price. I had no trouble porting my number, that happened almost immediately. I kept the service for a week waiting for any coverage issues to pop up, and when nothing did, my wife swapped from Optus as well. Something we both noticed with Coles mobile, the texts we sent and received arrived almost immediately, something we were having an issue with from Optus where some texts would come in a few minutes or hours later. My daughter and son-inlaw have made the swap from Optus and they are havi...ng no issues. There is one issue with Coles I'm not a fan of however. To make a recharge from the Coles site after entering your mobile number, you are required to sign in to your account, everytime. Optus had a portal where after entering you number and being recognised as an Optus account, a payment gateway would open with options for credit card, vouchers and PayPal. I don't know if Coles are doing the recharge payments this way deliberately or not, but to avoid having to sign into your account every time for a recharge, then you have to check the box for automatic recharges on your card. This is a bare bones service, in that you can't ask any questions not related to technical issues and Coles do not send reminders for a recharge, you will just have little or no service when credit runs out. Having said that, so far we are happy with the service.
Porting 2 days But Ok Speeds
Porting was abit longer due to VF plan To Coles Mob and needed previous account info and right DoB.
After calling 13xxx to provide the info saw sms for voicemail setup and thought it was gd but 4G not working(log on to network window on phone came up) and calls not going out nor Sms.
So went to Webchat and its technical difficulties and it was close to 8pm and thats where i know its going to be next day to resolve
So next day came and took till late morning till i i got notified of Services ready and App was registering my prepaid info.
cheapest data sim but not as good as amaysim
changed from amaysim to coles, ported number, 120 gb,365 days, talk and data. Seamless,10 minutes, no problems. have noticed poor reception..when the kids get home from school and all get on facebook, I often cannot get internet connection. Same in evenings sometimes...... Dense population here with several Optus towers around. Was much better with amaysim. I just live with it. Will rethink at renewal time. Not a real big user. No other problems at all.
OKAY prepaid, good customer service , just be patient.
as the saying, you get what you are paying for. DO NOT expect first class if you are paying economy class.
1. To deactivate voice mail is ##004# so do not give bad review just because you are unable to deactivate it.
2. Do not port your number especially from other than Optus network after office hours including weekend and public holiday.
3. I ported my number on saturday night , all messed up but after 2 calls and 3 quick replies email (very impressive), all sorted out by Monday morning.
4. Problem on porting most of the time also cause...
Does the job
Does a good job for the price and very easy to recharge and to deal with any issues. I can't afford other name products so this one will do for me.
Have purchase for 5 family members all with GREAT success
All ported numbers worked with minutes. Coverage is better than previous SIM.
Haven't used customer service so can't respond to that...but customer service wasn't required because everything worked as advertised.
Previous company SIM was very much a pain trying to make overseas calls and text. Had to top up each time wanted to texted overseas.
Have video chat and text to UK no issues what so ever.
Happy enough with it!
My number ported over in under 10 minutes (I changed from Belong Mobile) - very straightforward and easy!
Coles (Optus) reception isn't as good in my home as Belong (Telstra), but it's not terrible. I'm happy enough with it.
I emailed customer support to ask how to disable voicemail and they wrote back in 30 minutes with an answer. The solution: "All you have to do is dial **##004#** on your mobile phone and then quickly power cycle (switch your phone OFF and ON again) to ensure the changes are saved correctly."
I'm disappointed that they di...dn't allow me to refund/return/cancel after I had ordered the sim card and before I activated the sim. You'd think there are consumer laws about their no-refund policy when a service hasn't been activated. Oh well.
Super easy to connect.
Ported my number from lebara to coles and within minutes the service was up n running. Been using it for a month now and im really happy with it. Bought $150 365 days plan with 120gb data. So far its been good. No issues at all.
Excellent Value - Pretty Reasonable Service - If a bit painful and cumbersome to activate
My family has 3 services with Coles Mobile since June 2018.
The first porting in 2018 was a nightmare to complete, but it taught me a few tricks, which made the other 2 a pain free transition. I've written these tricks further down in this review.
Apart from that initial nightmare, everything has been great. Decent coverage with the Optus network. 4G speeds are as expected. And when Coles put these cards on sale, they are an absolute bargain. The 3 of us purchased 365 day expiry packs for $130 (they are normally $180) in June this year. So we...have unlimited calls, txt, mms and 48Gb for under $11 a month. Their initial customer service was a joke, because they had this Coles only contact team. But it seems they have moved to using regular Optus prepaid customer service once you call the 1300 number, which is far better. Now, for those of you who want to know how to smoothly port to Coles Mobile, here is how I did it.
ok. Customer service was helpful. I had to call a few times . As I missed to port the number.
Sign up easy, keeping your number hell
The hurdle of finally reaching optus guys to keep my number for coles mobile is over then it s smooth sailing. Just keep in mid though optus guys dont really want to hear from you since you are not direct customer with them I guess. I couldnt keep the number for my dads account.... so he was upset but with coles mobile nonetheless as theyare the chaepest available unlimited on 20 dol
Good reliable service at a very good price I
The service is very reliable , l have travelled from Newcastle , through Broken Hill and down to SA, had all the service I needed. For the price of $180 for a year including unlimited national calls and texts with 48g of data IAM quite happy.
I dont know whats with these neg reviews??
Bought a prepaid $20 for myself and my wife, fired mine up at 7:45PM (cutoff for a number port was 8PM) typically takes half an hour to port apparently, thought i would put the new sim in after activating the new sim for giggles straight away, made a call and bam! already active, no issues!
when i did my wifes she had changed her maiden name since she signed up with her old phone, so after a few attempts at activating online, it failed (assume due to the name change) rang up coles, (on hold for a little while) got a guy - not the politest, b...ut once she went though the activation process BAM done again - no major issues. thought it was such good value, got my mother inlaw a sim, she was porting from voda post paid, (into a different name again) put the account number in to the coles site from her old account (was a Sunday, they only do ports Monday to Saturday) by Monday lunch time, ported over again, no issues. so over all I've been pretty happy with the three attempts i've completed. 3 gb of data, unlimited calls and texts is awesome... because of the long expiry (35 days) it ends up being ~17.38 per calendar month.
Questions & Answers
For people who was waiting for SIM active for longer than 48 hours, was your SIM actived eventually? It's been more than 24 hours and I'm really worried. My old SIM doesn't work anymore so I can't call & can't send SMS.
I am waiting for a new sim on the way.
It’s holiday atm, please try to contact them if still not activated tomorrow afternoon.
What device are you using the SIM in? Is it a brand new phone?
• Is the device 4G enabled and unlocked? If you bought the phone via another carrier, it may be locked to them.
• Have you switched the device off and back on since putting the new SIM card in?
• Is the SIM Card inserted correctly? Are there any messages on the screen?
• Do you have reception bars and does the Coles Mobile Logo appear?
• Have you checked if there are any known outages at your address (https://www.optus.com.au/about/network/service-status)?
• If you're only having issues with data, have you checked the APN is set to 'yesinternet' (If you are unsure on how to do this, please let us know what device you are using and we can look up the instructions for you)
• Have you tried the SIM in another device to see if it will work?
• Did you get any reception bars when testing the SIM in the alternative device? • When did the issue first start happening?
• What is the actual error message you receive while trying to use the service?
• Are other Optus services being affected in your area?
• Please confirm the SIM Card you are currently using
Thanks for your reply.
I've already contacted them and they said it's technical error that's why my activation was not successful. They said I have to wait at least 48 hours while they fix the issues. I need my phone at work tomorrow and I feel like it doesn't resolve the issues today.
How to disable voicemail for coles mobile?
Very bad service from coles mobile. Been a week and sim not connected. Full of crap answers from the team and same answers every day. No compensation and solution. Coles mobile is worst sadly I moved 3 mobiles on 365 day plan but coles is not ethical company. Rip-off in grocery, staff, mobile and insurance. Corporate thief’s
