Commonwealth car insurance is rubbish
Big mistake on my life to buy car insurance with commonwealth.
Totally rubbish, need to avoid when choosing car insurance. I have witnesses to say not my fault but they don’t use it.
Finding out that with my claim 700282766 that Comminsure are deducting unused premiums and unused rego & CTP from my quoted settlement! What a rip off that they don't tell you when you sign up. Its bad enough that I have to accept THEIR "Agreed value" as OUR ""Agreed value".
Never Ever get a car insurance policy from Comminsure!
I was requested by an NRMA Auto Electrician Specialist to make a claim for my car. I did this on 4/10/20. It is now 28/10/20. It was assessed and claim declined though expert advice and knowledge of well respected auto electrician advised claim should go through. Reason? "Lack of maintenance and wear and tear". My car was registered on 25/9/20 as roadworthy for the next year. I have just spent over $3,000 maintaining it in past 2 months ( however, the car is " not maintained".) NRMA towed my car to 3 different KNOWLEDGABLE mechanics...all NRMA ...registered...and no one could figure out what was wrong until it was towed to the 4th NRMA registered auto electrician. Comminsure is saying I should have " maintained the wear and tear" on my car, when 3 skilled NRMA mechanics couldnt even figure out what caused the car to stop running. How are you supposed to fix and/ or maintain wear and tear that even mechanics dont know about? I have been with the Commonwealth bank for 40 years, have had 3 home loans, plus business loans, personal loans and have paid over $6000 in car insurance over 6 years and never made a claim. They have just made a " second assessment" but never physically went out to see the car. My claim was supposed to be escalated and I just found out the Lead Assessor DID NOT escalate my claim as he did not give me an "CF escalation number". I have sent emails requesting documentation in writing and have received none in return. I will be taking this to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority as I have tried to do the right thing by going through the " Comminsure" process but it is a process put on paper to tick the boxes for legislation but has not been followed. Want to hear the most interesting fact? Comminsure has made an assessment although the car is unable to be started to check where the actual damage is coming from. Beware! They are unprofessional and unethical in how they deal with a complaint.

I took car insurance for my new Tesla X online yesterday. Today I had to call and confirm some details to activate. I liked CBA car ins as have had my accounts with them for 20 years, and they were interestingly half the price than other insurers. I was waiting for the catch.
I rang to give the info,(granted it was 5:25pm), to be told "we are not offering you insurance as you are not "exceptional", no explanation. Not sure what this means, but the girl was chewing gum as she said it.

Had my car hit by another in Townsville Hospital car park and security have advised they have full video footage with plate number. Rang Commbank and they have said I have to pay full excess as I do not have other owners details. I explained that there is actual video footage and they did not budge. What is the point of insurance with them?
Allowed me to be scammed
I was involved in a minor fender bender with a car which resulted in paint being scuffed off of their already damaged bumper. They tried to claim for $3000 and commbank insurance agreed it was fair even after I provided proof that their vehicle was already heavily damaged and I was forced to pay the excess. None of this was communicated to me and I had to pay the excess over 2 years later after I thought the claim had been resolved.

Who would have thought COMMINSURE would be so unprofessional, and unwilling to honour what they outline in their terms and conditions of their contract.
VERY UNHAPPY and won't be letting them let me down again after everything I have had to go through already. They should be honouring their position as the insurance policy provider.

They won't tell you what you're entitled to. But they will gladly take your money.
I was involved in a minor accident (another vehicle rear-ended me). I took the driver's registration and licence details (including address). But because I did not have the other driver's phone number, I was going to be charged a $500 excess by CommInsure. So I had to drive to the guy's house to get his phone number. A few days later, I realise I was entitled to a rental vehicle while my car was being repaired. CommInsure did not disclose this to me. Yet they were quick to say I had to pay them $500 excess (which they eventually cancelled as I ...got the other driver's contact number). Fast forward a few months down the line, they send me an invoice for the cost of the repair of my vehicle. Turns out they were supposed to send it to the other driver. My issues are: 1) Quick to charge you an excess 2) They do not disclose your policy's entitlements. You have to ask specific questions about your entitlement.
4 months and my car still hasn’t been repaired.
My car was heavily damaged in the Canberra hailstorm. CommInsure made me use their approved repairer which can only repair the car in Queensland. Four months in and my car is rusting away and still damaged Action Smart Group does not have the capacity to repair the vehicles in a reasonable timeframe but CommInsure want to save some money instead of providing the service I paid for. I had to phone up and make a fuss before they would let me book a local repairer.
My car is badly rusted at the moment and I know that even with repairs it is only...a matter of time before that rust eats away at my car. My friends and colleagues insured with different providers have all had their cars replaced or repaired by now but CommInsure still use the excuse about how unprecedented the storm was as an excuse. Stay away from CommInsure - all they care about is the spreadsheet they use to track profit.

I can not stress enough, do not insure with this lot, they only want to take your money and will go to great lengths to avoid paying you out what your entitled to. I crashed my vehicle at the start of January and was stuffed around for 2months with them taking my vehicle for mechanical checks to try and find a reason not to pay out my insurance claim. They came back with a report saying that the the steering was faulty and damaged and knocked my claim back, I hit a tree which done substantial amount of damage to the front of the vehicle and wou...ld have caused the steering to be damaged, so how I was able to drive this vehicle with such amount of damage is beyond me. I also have my house and other vehicle insured with these grubs in which I will be cancelling and finding another insurance company to deal with.
I cannot rate this Comminsure car insurance highly enough !

The answer was yes. We had to wait few days for a hail damage specialist to be present at our repairer of choice. Car got assessed yesterday. Today we receive a call from cominsure. We need to take our car to actionsmart which is their approved hail damage specialist. If that’s the case why have cominsure wasted our time and said yes in the first place....Wait it gets better! I asked Where an when can we take our car for assessment? The answer is oh they will contact you. They are currently setting up sites in Victoria and NSW! So when I ask are you serious?how long shall we be waiting? They said oh it’s just a hail damaged car, you can still drive it!! ( thank you for reminding me that!) We don’t know when they will be contacting you. This is the process. It’s not going to change! So the cominsure operater gets angry and hungs up on me! Honestly your process is not good enough and needs to be changed. It’s in fact one of the funniest and unprofessional processes we’ve ever heard of. It’s a joke!
I wish there was a No Star option
Vague information is provided in PDS about learner driver in aged restriction policy option. Nothing is mentioned about when the policy holder is supervising a learner. There is a common perception that if the full licence policyholders are supervising a learner, still the full license person is liable for car insurance. It is not clearly explained in pds and miss lead the costumers
Mistake To Move To Comminsurance
My car was bit from the back which I was not at fault. I called Comminsurance after few minutes to discuss the situation, the call center representatives are very inexperienced and do not think out of the box.
Asked me to take the car to crash repairer and arranged for a loan car with HERTZ which is on the other side of the town when the HERTZ is 400 meters away from the crash repair moreover WHY hertz? Anyways, I had to pay hertz insurance money to secure the car why?

Lack of diligence and failure to provide appropriate information when requested
I am so disappointed with the CommBank so much so that it made me to register on this site to give a review. I selected ONE star purely because CommInsure picked up the phone when I called.
I spent at least 4 hours (3 calls) with them that I have been wrongly charged for a claim purely on the basis that I hadn't made "the claim" but only "reported" the incident when it happened. I was put in the total darkness until the same bank sent a debt collector to me. When I asked them why I was not informed of the proceedings, then they simply said it ...is the procedure they follow. When I asked what enquiries they have made, their answer is we compared the notes that suffice, even though I insisted I have witnesses when incident took place. When I requested a report on their investigation, the answer was they are not obliged to provide one and "the system doesn't allow them" to produce one BUT referring to road code and asked me to GOOGLE it, but failed to give details of the code for reference. When I asked for Manager to speak, guess what, he isn't available (classic uh!) I could go on... but you get the gist how uncompassionate and disregard towards their paying customers. My experience with CommBank attests their sheer arrogance and I am taking immediate actions from pulling out all my financial dealings with them in future. Hope this review help for whom it matters.
Decided not to renew insurance because they increased it by a ridiculous amount (no claims ever on my car). Rang up and asked not to renew as of 21st Sep (when the policy expired), said they would send a letter confirming the cancellation. Received letter yesterday stating they cancelled my insurance on the 1st of Sep! I have been driving around with no insurance for 3 weeks thanks to these idiots.
Forget trying to call for a quote. Their Australian contact centre is severely understaffed. They will call you back. You suffer their rubbish IVR. Advertising. They can’t call you back at all at a prearranged time. They can’t email you anything. Has to be by post. Any issue and it’s 10 days + before you find out there is an issue with your cover. There is absolutely nothing these people get right and this is sales! Their communication fails to advise vehicle details. They just provide a policy number. When you have multiple vehicle policies yo...u have no idea which one they are communicating about. So hard to give them business I can’t imagine what their actual claims process is like. In any event they can be trusted so taking 7 policies elsewhere. Not worth the risk. And there is absolutely no point promoting your all Australian call centre when you don’t staff it! Go to Manila or somewhere. Better yet, sack your useless executive team and get people who understand communication and sales. You have lost my business purely out of arrogance and stupidity.

Setup fine. Value WAS good. Online claim system is pathetic, get's lost in commbank account. Cannot make a claim over the phone unless it's an emergency.
I was lead to believe that my excess was a tad higher at $1050 because of my increased monthly premium. I made a claim around a month ago, and had to request/pay/submit my 'official vic roads driving history' (have never had to do this in the past with any other insurance company). CommInsure turned around and said that by me driving my own car, my excess was $2650!!! (Apparently this was agr...eed to over a 'web chat', which they have failed to provide the transcript for after 3 separate requests) It would be cheaper for me to respray the other persons entire car!!! Considering the money at stake, Commbank has still not contacted me about the claim. Worst customer service ever! Cancelling my policy, insurance and taking my loan/banking elsewhere!!! Had an accident that was not my fault.
Called to find out the easiest way to deal with it and they suggested they do the claim and waive the excess. They will "deal with the other party" and let them do the heavy lifting.

Comprehensive is a Joke
Got rear ended (not at fault). Gave CI the others driver's registration and driver's license details. After replacing the rear bumper by their approved business, When I picked up my car the next day I was told to pay the $600 excess. CI charged me the excess because the driver doesn’t have a phone number. On closer inspection of his licence it shows it expired 14 month ago! He operated the vehicle with no valid driver’s licence rear ended me!!! I have “comprehensive” car insurance. Definition “comprehensive” Cambridge Dictionary “Comprehensive...insurance will also cover you against theft, and against any damage done to your car…” Definition “comprehensive” CI “We will….. bla bla bla….. I think their insurance offices is on the c/r of Screwyou Rd and Thanksmate St. Record phone conversations for training purposes, thhh it’s easier to train a monkey to do show jumping with a donkey.
