Commonwealth Bank Travel Insurance (page 3 of 3)
Credit / Debit Card Insurances, Comprehensive, Essentials, etc...Read the Commbank Travel insurance on this company
Received my new CBA card which included item on travel insurance, as I am traveling a lot thought I would look at it. Well to my surprise it had a one star rating from EVERYONE that had made a claim. They mainly blamed the underwriter who are Allianz so I looked at this site and its all 4 & 5 star ratings. fun thing these people had not tried to claim. go figure.

DISGRACEFUL!!!!.......WARNING..........JUST STAY AWAY!!
I have been a Commbank customer all my life & only heard about the complementary travel insurance included on my credit card. Before I left to go to Fiji for a wedding, I took the policy out!! Thanx to Cyclone Winston only 2 of us made it over there as the bride/groom and all other guests were stuck at Melb Airport.
I have spent more time on the phone, sending emails, listening to voice mails, reading texts 'we require more information'!!! & listening to the other person tapping away on their computer noting down what your saying & repeatin...Read more
g the same questions over and over again, when you have told the story 15 times prior. So to all the call centre personnel that I had unfortunate task of dealing with.....Thanks for nothing to Hayley, Danni, Immerah, Paula (very patronising) & Nicole (apparently the case manager) this is to name only a few of the Allianz staff I would rather pay for my travel insurance via my travel agent & via another Insurance Company as I had been doing for the past 30+ years than take out a policy with these guys who have caused me more grief and time than anything else. I am a world traveller & never have I encountered such pathetic & disgusting service. Pay the extra and go else where. They are quick to take your money but when it comes to them giving it back WOW!!!! Even after the millions they make!! They should be ashamed of themselves!! I understand why people go to current affair shows!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Insurance claim
Hi!
The complementary insurance issues by Com Bank with Allianz does not carry any value and if something goes wrong with the travel, they just keep on asking the same questions and paper work again and again as I had put in the claim on 21st of December 2016 and three months on I am still chasing them for answers. After sending reminder on the 10th of March they informed me that they will get back to me by 17th of March and have not received any communication so far regarding the claim and had to send another reminder today.

CBA Complimentary Travel Insurance with Allianz
Poor customer service for starters! These guys have no people skills and seem to work like robots.
I have activated my insurance through the Comm Bank website over a month ago only to find them rude, inexperience, inflexible and unwilling to help with changes and this is prior to me going on the trip! This is the second time I have had issues with CBA-Allianz Complimentary Insurance. CBA who are normally good to deal with, are making themselves look bad having Allianz as their insurance provider.

Insurance claim
I booked my airline tickets to India for 21st December, by Malaysian Airline, through Spendless Travel & Tours P L,who have closed their shop and figured out that they have not paid the airlines only on the 20th of December 2016 and I had to rebook the tickets with Air Travel at a much higher price due to short notice and Christmas time. I have also lost the bookings I had arranged when reaching India and lost couple of days off my holidays as i had to rebook on the 23rd of December. Have approached the insurance company which is through Comban...Read more
k complimentary with Alliannz. They asked me over a period of 4 weeks lot of paper work which was submitted and at the end of which has been refused by the insurance company. The insurance company has asked me to to Tribunal which in opinion is not right as if i go the tribunal I will have spend money for the case and loose time and at the end of it I am not certain if i will get the money. I feel that the insurance company is making it hard so as to avoid the claim which is genuine. In my opinion Combank is duping the customers by giving complimentary insurance to their customers when they cannot honour a genuine claim which has caused lot of stress and monetary loss for me. If i knew this is the case I would have purchased a more genuine insurance from some other company who would honour their deal and have a credit card from another bank not from Commbank. Both Commbank and Allianz have to liaise with each other to resolve the issue and put the customer through this grief. The costs that are claimed are only the direct costs in this case not even the indirect costs of losing holidays with delayed travel plans or cancelling of ongoing journey tickets, accommodation, etc.1 comment

d for confirmation of the out come from Fair Trading which is ridiculous, why does a company want the out come from Fair Trading from me and If they do not want to resolve a geninune claim they should say so and I can take next due course of action. When the companies try these delay tactics to avoid a claim customers like me would doubt these companies especially when they try calling on our phones to sell their insurance policies.Similar opinion? Insurance HA! who are they kidding? Stay away.
My husband and I were on a long trip in UK then Germany and Italy and paid over $1200 for our insurance with the Commbank. We were travelling between hotels and decided to stop as it was too early to book into the next hotel. There were people around and we parked between two other cars. Long story short...left the car for 25 minutes and when we came back someone had broken in and stolen all of our suitcases which were out of sight in the boot of the car. EVERYTHING....GONE.
We thought we were okay as we had paid for the insurance. Report...Read more

Stay Away from CBA Allianz Travel Insurance
My wife developed a medical condition so we had to put off our trip for 6 months. We put in a claim for lost deposits of $2000 supplied Doctors letters saying it was not a pre existing condition, paid another $165 to her GP to satisfy their request for 2 years of her medical history. Allianz chose to ignore the letters and reject our claim on the grounds of an existing condition. I don't care about the $2000 but am very upset that I have being paying platinum credit card fees for over ten years and when I put in a claim on this "tricked up" Ins...Read more
urance Policy. It clearly has so many exit avenues it is absolutely useless and should not be advertised as free insurance. I am in the process now of moving accounts that the CBA earns over $3000 a year from me to another bank. I probably will be travelling for another 10 years so the Commonwealth Bank will be $30,000 worse off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!
AVOID CBA TRAVEL INSURANCE
Benefit 4 of the Commonwealth Bank Gold card travel insurance policy states that the insurer will pay if the journey is rescheduled or cancelled because of circumstances that were not expected. My husband's brother died suddenly with no obvious cause of death and we were not aware of a prior medical condition. My husband postponed his flight to London as there was a delay in the coroner releasing the body for the funeral. The Bank has been provided with an interim death certificate and is now requesting a copy of the coroner's report. This is a...Read more
n invasion of privacy and a cause of further distress to the family. It appears that the Bank will not cover the costs of trip postponement unless they have access to the medical records of the person who has died. We are now seeking alternative insurance for further trips. My husband's brother resided and died in Australia and my husband was still in Australia at the time of the death. It seems that in the event of the death of another person leading to a change in travel arrangements the Bank will try and determine a prior medical condition applied.1 comment

Stay Away from CBA
In May this year we planned a visit to Japan for late November, we booked tickets, accommodation and everything else that goes with it. I used my Commonwealth Platinum Credit card to pay for the lot and therefore activated the Travel Insurance (Allianz).
The Sunday before leaving, my wife got a call from overseas that her mother (overseas) was very ill and that the prospects were not good. She immediately booked another flight and later that evening went to be with her mother. What this meant was that she would not be going to Japan. I put in ...Read more

Buyer Beware
I had taken out the free Commonwealth Bank Credit Card travel insurance for a recent trip to Iceland. While there, I was involved in a bus accident and hit my face causing some soreness to my lower teeth, a facial cut and some swelling. But this settled down and I did not seek medical attention. About a week after my return, I am having major problems with my teeth and jaw impacted during the accident. BUT because I did not seek any medical attention while in Iceland, I am not covered at all apparently. This is despite having the incident and i...Read more

CBA Credit Card Travel Insurance - DO NOT TAKE IT!
We recently travelled overseas and paid the travel agent for air tickets via CBA AMEX card (and paid 3% commission to the agent) and paid our accommodation via same card. The idea was that travel insurance is covered once you use the card. Unfortunately, on the last day of our trip overseas, the bus (we were a group of 14, 3 families) we were using for internal transportation was broken into. My family lost an iPad, another family lost a whole camera Cannon 5D Mark II bag with brand new accessories, mobile phone, and other items (probably aroun...Read more
d A$7,000). When back in Australia, when we inquired about the insurance we discovered two things - 1) CBA had changed the insurance provider and they sought that we needed to register and send them our itinerary before we travel or the travel insurance won't be valid; and 2) the fine prints (an item in a 60 page document) stated that items stolen from an unattended vehicle are not covered. So, basically, our insurance was useless. Of course the issue is that we did not explore the conditions etc...before paying by credit card, assuming that nothing had changed and we would be automatically covered. What amazes me is how many people would have known about needing to provide an itinerary prior to travelling (and I am not sure for what purpose anyway). Hence, I assume this is a nice way to eliminate most claims before even lodging them. Secondly, it seems that if your vehicle is going to get robbed, you need to make sure that you are inside the car (have a chat with the thief, maybe even ask for his/her autograph while you are at it). The moral of the story, DO NOT TAKE TRAVEL INSURANCE FROM CBA CREDT CARD or at least, READ THE 60 ODD PAGES BEFORE YOU PAY BY CREDIT CARD and incur a fee. IT IS A SCAM. No wonder insurance companies are sooooooo trust worthy!!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Steer clear of CBA credit card travel insurance
We have used the complimentary travel insurance for over 10 years and have made claims which were well handled (Zurich). The Bank changed their insurance provider to Allianz who have just refused a claim, much to our surprise.
I always read insurance policies carefully but in the change major exclusions came into play. In my case no claim can be made for anything associated with mental health. So when my son suddenly had a problem (after I had booked my trip) I can receive no coverage. When I tried to complain to the bank they put me through to "Commonwealth Travel claims Manager" who was an Allianz employee, not a bank employee.
12 months earlier the insurance covered mental health issues.
Stay clear of CBA.

Terrible - more bother than its worth. Claims are made difficult by the incompetent staff who cannot give you accurate information and will just sent you the huge PDF standard document that you then need to find the information you need. It's like talking to a cauliflower.
