Terrible experience with warranty repair.
In the past I have bought 3 systems from Computer Alliance and the sales team have been fine. It wasnt until I needed a warrenty repair that the store showed its true colours.
My computer had been crashing semi-regualrly for about a month. As a hobbyist I have tried to work out what the problem is myself. Updating/rolling back drivers, using monitoring utilities and even formatting I finally nailed it down that it was an issue with the video card. Id even worked out how reproduce the crash 100%.
Since I dont live in Brisbane anymore, I ar...ranged to get the computer couriered to my sister, who would take it back to the store. This is where the problems started. While talking to staff on the phone, and my sister talking to the staff in store, we were both quoted 3 to 5 days for repair. What a joke! And that was just the begining. While my sister was dropping off the computer, she mentioned to the staff that it wasnt her computer and was just dropping it off. I had labelled all my details on the side of the box and my sister pointed that out to the staff. I also included an almost full A4 page of the details of the problem, what i had done to try and fix it, that i thought it was the video card and how to reproduce the crash. What a waste of time! A week after dropping off the computer my sister received a call from a technician trying to fix my computer. Yes, 7 days after, not within the 3 to 5 days we were quoted. The technician then asked my sister for a password. She told him it wasnt her computer so she didnt know the password, and that they would need to call me. The technician then told her he had my details already and would give me a call, but it wouldnt really be necessary because he could circumvent the password anyway. Why would they bother to call anyone in the first place if they didnt need to? The technician never called me. The funny thing is THERE IS NO PASSWORD ON THE SYSTEM!
Where to start... Bought a modem router that only gave off a 10 metre wifi range told it was the best one.. Tried to return the item only to be told no they refund it.
Abused in store and ordered out the store..
I won't be shopping there again and I would suggest shooing elsewhere.
Dont buy Acer
Purchased an Acer i7 laptop, a month later it a boot issue. Of course Computer Alliance push me to Acer. Despite purchasing an have an extended warranty from CA and a Genuine Acer Warranty Service with service centre dots in QLD, Acer require a machine to sent to Sydney - I\m looking down the barrel of 12 day turn around. No support from CA, and Acer are hopeless - Don't deal with either
it loooks nice
failed within a month
Poor customer service
Went to buy a Bluetooth keyboard for the iPad and also a touch pen. Found the keyboard ok in the store but then asked at the counter for the touch pen and the guy at the counter said he has never used a mac and made out like I was speaking another language. Very condescending and was not helpful with my query to buy more products. I have never used a mac either but was asking about the iPad and not his lack of knowledge on macs. Not the first time this kind of attitude has been displayed by staff. Won't be going back. Sent an email about the appalling service, no reply. No surprise.
Good that it is open on Sundays
Service severely lacking and then staff try to make you feel like you are stupid when I know what I am talking about
Tried to return an item that was not "fit for purpose". The smug little chap in the badly fitting suit said that they don't do refunds if I change my mind. I said it wasn't a change of mind, rather it was not fit for purpose.
I understand businesses have the right to refuse refund if a consumer changes their mind this was not the case. I had to argue with this little upstart who was more interested in trying to win an argument (unsuccessfully) rather than listen to someone more experience in consumer rights than he.
After some debate I fi...nally got my money refunded to the EFTPOS card I used to buy the goods and I wrote them a complaint letter when I got home. I wont be shopping there ever again. If they want my business you have to be more respectful to consumer rights and treat the customer better. Ignorant staff, rude, dismissive.
I play games on the computer not with business transaction
Called and asked if they had stock of a laptop as the internet said low stock. Was told plenty of stock, arrived at the store to get the laptop and was told we have no stock and that the laptop was selling for cost price and that’s why they have none left. Wasted time calling then coming to the shop, then I was told I could get the floor stock laptop for the same price as its cost price. This guy was serious too, he then went and talked to the manger and now the cost price was $16 less. Wow $16 less for a laptop that has been on for the last 3 ...months plus anything else that could of happened dropped etc. He said he could order some in and can ring me, called the following week since he didn’t ring and nothing was done. Do I give the guys another chance to redeem themselves.
Never never never again
Stay away unless you know your rights. My computer didn't work properly from the second day I bought it from computer alliance. When I contacted the store the manager was so rude. He was talking over the top of me and raising his voice so I had no other choice to hang up. I spoke to another manager who was also rude. I finally got a refund ( it was like pulling teeth). I would never shop there again.
They dont uphold the repair/refund policy as stated on their website
I bought a bamboo wacom tablet off them early this year and when it stopped working a few months later, they tried palming me off to the manufacturer and would not repair or refund the cost despite their websites promise to do otherwise.I was even initially told over the phone that they had others in stock and would gladly exchange-then was flatly refused when I turned up. Their exchange policy is as follows-
" When am I entitled to a refund, repair or exchange?
As a consumer, you are legally entitled to a refund, exchange or repair from the ...
Customer Service -What Customer Service
We purchased an Asus tablet from computer alliance and only had it 3 weeks before it wouldn't turn on. We took it back to them for repair, we were told we would be called with an update. We have had to make any follow up phone calls, the staff have been quite rude and most unhelpful. Standard answer is "we are very busy". No one can answer questions nor can they give time frames. I got the distinct impression that after 3 weeks the tablet hadn't even been looked at. Never able to speak to the person who is actually working on the product. Aggressive rude staff, we wont be back.
Bad customer service
Watch them closely!
Took a new $7000 pc and printer (no monitor) configuration on paper to them and asked is that ok? will it work? do i need to upgrade anything? (I told them I didnt know jack! except from the glossy pc magazines ive bought over the last 12 months trying to catch up on the latest pc trends....I was assured all was ok! 4 weeks later i was told the "avemedia H7273D PCIe hybrid 3D tv tuner" slowed the x2 1800mghz graphic cards by half so i said get rid of it! and later my g19 gaming keyboard died and was refunded $140 even though they sell it for $1...80now and probably more like $220 10 months ago. my problem is is that the receipt I have for the $7000 pc is itemised but not each parts price. so when something under warranty like the $180-$220 keyboard dies they can turn around and give you a refund of, lets say, $100 and state they originally sold it to you at a hugely discounted price! (my pc does not have the latest graphic cards or the latest mother board or the latest chips!) not price itemised on receipts, not helpful with info on choosing the best pc components
From Best to Worst
Over the past seven years my family has purchased ten computers from Computer Alliance as well as thousands of dollars worth of peripherals, we used to travel for five hours to buy our computers there because they were good value with good service.
Most recently I bought two Samsung notebooks in Nov 2010. At time of purchase staff were rude, did not listen to what I wanted and acted as if I was a major disruption in their day.Recently we needed one of the Samsungs repaired, took it back, staff could not find the record of purchase could not s...
The Staff are always talking about the price is the price because we offer the great customer service..i had a problem with one of my parts, i took it in, they said it would take 5 days it took 15 the first time, not really interested in what went wrong...so far nothing happened...spent an absoulte fortune trying to diagnose my pc again buying new GPU, PSU etc, still had the problem. Took the Motherboard and CPU in to get checked, said it would be about 5days, now 8 days and they still havent looked at it! The only reason i took it there was du...e to the parts being under warrenty. From NOW ON i will be buying my parts from UMART, friend had the same problem, but it took their staff 3 days to find there was a problem with the MB!!!! Bullsh!t is what i say. sales staff are rude and service staff cannot stick to a timeline....twice!
Extremely rude, painfully slow and grossly incompetant. I won't be using them again anless I absolutely have to for warranty purposes. My advice is DON'T USE THEM, even if you have to pay a little more.
It's not the only computer store around.
After taking two weeks to look at my computer under warranty(one I built with new components from them), they replaced faulty memory AND ACTIVATED MY OPERATING SYSTEM, AFTER BEING SPECIFICALLY ASKED NOT TO. I phoned and spoke to ian (manager)and he said it was "all part of the customer service" and no, I can't speak to the tech who did the service.
Never going back. I can more polite and knowledgeable staff at umart where they don't get customer service training. I've watched their service decline over the years. I give them one more year before they fold.
Prices are competitive in some components but you can usually get it cheaper at umart or msy
Their service appalling. Everything from their rude cash register girl to the sales staff who seem to think of customers as ruining their day. This is one computer store to stay clear of. If they can't even bother to be nice before I buy something, what are they going to be like after I buy something or perish the thought bring something back. STAY CLEAR
Buyer Beware Computer Alliance
Don't ever buy anything from computer alliance especially from mt gravatt all they care is selling and not what the consumer wants. If you ask them what will work in your pc and even if you mention them details they will just say yes' just so they can sell it. But worse there very rude and they wont give out any exchanges or refunds at all even if it a 3 year warranty. Dont buy any of their pc pen tablets their very expensive and again they hide details about their products such as it uses batteries or it doesnt work in photoshop.
Just beca...use it may seem cheaper doesnt mean they will treat you with the same courtesy as when they sell, once they got your money they dont care. And they actually said "we don't care" Pretend to be nice, product looks nice Poor service, dont give out refunds or exchanges, pretend salesman, false advertising, lack of consumer needs
Shocking, go elsewhere
Poor communication internally and won't say sorry for their own mistakes.
Customer service was poor and really am sick of tired going back for issues with my system.
They also won't call when they say they will and will tell you things are ready when they are not.
There are enough other PC stores out there, so don't go to this one.
Easy to browse online store
Bad service, hardware issues, bad communication. Go elsewhere
Sorry I would really like to give them Zero stars..
No signage about fee anywhere in the store. The after sale service is appalling. The front counter girl gives you attitude and the manager (if there is one) wouldn’t even come out to talk to me. I have been to some pretty bad places and let it slide, but this place has been the worse experience even! Hands down!
I was really annoyed after the service I ended up buying the goods at Harvey Norman Garden City, where they guy matched the price and reduced the price again to match the restoc...king I was conned into paying at Computer Alliance. Next time I will go to Umart or Gamedude. Computer Alliance should really be avoided at all cost as all you will find there is a head ache and less of you hard earned cash!!!! Customer service, staff not following their own policies, no signage about restocking fee, they make you feel like you are in the wrong.
Always have issues with them in regards to online stock aswell as anything to do with returns.
I bought an item, it did not work as described, I returned it the next day and have been waiting over a week for their "techs" to verify I'm not lying, I've also had to call up myself to find out what was happening, after 1 week they still hadn't even looked at my item, I spent $109 and have nothing to show for it.
Very bad customer service.
A terrible service - accused of stealing, when we got home and items were missing (. Spoke with the space cadet on the phone and told to come in - only to be belittled infront of everyone.
Computer Alliance Brisbane - Do not shop there.
Rang to complain to the manager - and threaten never to shop there again, only to be told that they make no money from retail anyway so he didn't care.
Be very careful before you buy anything from this store - do your due dilligence!
me and my husband have purchased a few items from Computer Alliance (Mt Gravatt) . We purchased a PC and we spent at least $2,500 (we asked for the best specs). Since that day; the hard drive has failed twice! unbelievable! we had to get them replaced twice! this is so unfortunate for us as we have lost most of our important docs and memorable photos of our wedding which is quite important for us!
on top of that, we also purchased this "tv converter" software from them, and again, we had to return the product twice as it never worked properl...y. (they said they couldnt give us cash refund so we can only get a credit) we are very dissapointed as we've spent a lot of money for our PC , software and clearly they gave us such inferior products!!! and to have lost some of our memorable photos and docs is something that we really regret for not doing our due dilligence, researching previously about their company profile... I'd warn friends and family not to purchase anything from this shop; do your due dilligence!. inferior quality, hard drive failure,

Could you pse let me know who is CEO or Business Development Head or Sales Head of Computer Alliance?
