Good products and knowledgeable staff but way too many personal questions
I got what I wanted which was a bit of extra ram, but I had to answer so many personal questions, it felt like I was at a medical center! I asked why they needed my phone number, email, home address, full name, etc. and they said it was if i ever wanted a refund.... bruh what do you think a receipt is for! If this place ever needs a bit of spare cash they are going to sell this data to the highest bidder. I was really not comfortable giving all this information but they said they wouldnt let me buy the stick of ram without it. If you value your personal information I would avoid this place.

not overly impressed.
- wanted to order 2 SKUs not currently in stock
- emailed them, was advised "in stock at supplier, ETA likely a couple of weeks"
- ordered.
- after 3 weeks i ask for an updated ETA, advised one part arrived, other hopefuly end of week or early next week
- after 5 weeks from order, have to email again, other part still not in stock, "do you want to cancel that part or the whole order?" is the only response i'm given
- suggest that they should send me what they have now and the final part once it eventually arrives
- currently at 7 weeks from order, no update on second part but the other bits have arrived.
- get email to leave review here....
fwiw the 2 SKUs were from the same supplier, not different places or companies....Read more
Pros: - they've always replied to emails pretty quickly - the prices on the parts i *needed* were cheaper here than anywhere else and they're a weird part Cons: - i've had to chase them, no proactive updates - no forethought or offer with regards to "how about we just send you what's already here then sort the last bit out when it gets here?" - i'm still missing a part :(Similar opinion? CA Online Store
Great Store and the staff were extremely helpful.
The Filtering on the left hand side of the website made it particularly easy to navigate.
I did like the messenger chat where Will was on hand to answer my questions without pushing product.
To that point, a very happy experience.
Different story when I started setting up the laptop and realised that the advice that I had been given was completely incorrect.
I was sold a video dock with a laptop that does not support USB-C despite being reassured that it did. I also purchased a third monitor on the back of that advice.

False advertising about delivery - and I have business that depends on it.
2 X $200 keyboards (which us anyway a great price for ones that cost $300 usually so no complaint there) were supposed to come in a week MAX as advertised on their site, and reviews said they even come in 2 days for some customers. This was a main reason why I chose their service to make an order for my software development business.
I very well understand that the delays are because of COVID-19, so I offered to pay for Express Post and return the ones that will arrive in 2 weeks time instead, but they refused rudely, not even apologising, an...Read more
d not even understanding that they just cost my business AT LEAST $2000 for one week of work, as I have no backup keyboards and cannot program on on-screen keyboard with clicks obviously, and those keyboards were ordered specifically for disabled people in order to accomodate their needs. Also, the customer service representative only offered to return the keyboards straight away with no effort of using his brain to think of a better solution, but when they come in 2 weeks time (1 already passed), but I explained I cannot buy another set of keyboards since I spent $420 on those 2 keyboards for a very specific reason - programming and working 12h days on it, and they were bought on a plan which you cannot just reimburse which I have explained. I really tried to be nice, offered to pay Express Delivery, but that’s such a problem to do for their customers in need so I’m just going to sue their company for false advertising to get my lost money back for lost work for which they made me lose about $2000 AT LEAST because of their laziness. I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t use Express mail with an option of an extra cost which is reasonable, especially if they knew already this is an issue and is going to hap (person admitted it to know about it before it was sent a week ago), but refused to mention it when I was in the checkout part and asked fo pay for it. They also do not mention at all that they send it through standard postage when the order was in the checkout and delivery estimated, otherwise I would not order it.Similar opinion? I do everything I can to avoid shopping here.
I wasn’t going to write a review, but since you emailed me and asked me to:
I bought a fairly simple item, just wanted to buy it and walk out. I was forced to give my name, email address and full residential address in order to complete the sale. Was told it was compulsory. I said I’d prefer not to as I don’t see the need and I would rather not get marketing material or that sort of thing. The salesperson stifled a laugh and told me that wouldn’t happen. Then you email me and ask me to write a review...
Have shopped here a few times when I can’t find something elsewhere. Really don’t like it. Always something odd happens.

Don't buy from this store off ebay
I searched for a usbC to ethernet/VGA/USB/USBC adapter on ebay. The ad said that there was a special offer where I could get the product for $63 (the listed price of the item was $78). The postage was $15. The total on the checkout page was $78 and I enquired via chat to this store and was told that I would get a rebate for the purchase. So I purchased the item and was charged $78. I never received the rebate.

Be very careful
A couple of years back I purchased a new computer which came with a free Office 365 subscription. When I went to activate it the other day the little card inside had the product code which I entered on the supplied website. It turned out that this was a fake Office 365 product connected to a scam website which advised that there was an error and to phone a given number, which I did. I believed that I was speaking to Microsoft technicians but they were overseas scammers. They took control of my computer remotely on GoToAssist and advised that...Read more
I had a dreadful CSRSS exe Trojan and said that I had to agree to their expensive deal immediately and they proceeded to give me the full spiel. This did not happen of course and I have advised the ACCC. However, when I attempted to advise Computer Alliance they were too busy to speak to me. I wonder if they purchased dozens of these fake Office subscriptions and how many unsuspecting customers were caught by this scam. I don't think I would have been Robinson Crusoe in that regard.4 comments

Packaging was terrible
The drive arrived OK but the packaging was terrible. When shipping a hard drive I would have expected some additional bubble wrap or something. All it came in was some additional brown paper scrunched up on top and on the bottom

Refund had 15% restocking fee
Before I bought an iPhone game controller I asked the counter person if he ([name removed]) knew if the game controller was compatible with the game I play (PUBG and rules of survival); he said he wasn’t sure but encouraged me to buy anyway to try since it can be refunded if I retained all original packaging. I wasn’t told about the 15% restocking until the next day when I returned the product. He probably did it to increase sales without caring about the ramifications to customers, and because of this, the store can’t resell the item as new and I paid $10 for what was a hopeless case from the start. I wouldn’t even have contemplated about buying it if I knew about the restocking fee.

Terrible customer service
Product works well, but I wouldn't say it's because of Computer Alliance, more like the manufacturer. Came into the store wanting to buy a few parts but was so disgusted by the customer service I only bought an optical drive. Prices are alright though, which is why I gave 2 stars.

Steer clear for your own benefits. (go to MSY/uMart instead)
Personally, I really have a very mixed feeling about writing this review.
However, i feel the public have the right to understand some of the issues i personally went through with this store.
It was great, excellent and competitive pricing made me think twice about the other 2 major computer outlets, it had a really nice special, so i thought, damn, i am saving a few hundred, might as well try CA, friends says they pretty alright, a good substitute for umart.
So i went in, the customer service, was amazing, the salesmen answered every questi...Read more

How do you even mess this up?
My custom build wasn't even connected to the $300 1060 graphics card. Went through a lot of trouble and money to get this computer and it isn't even built properly. Computer Alliance is a terrible place, have had problems with it in the past and it seems like I'm still having trouble with them. Staff were nice though.

Not satisfied mainly because the workers at computer-alliance.
I don't recommend computer alliance.. now days the staff there are gutless ignorant to some people.. I came in I wanted to ask some help to search on the website for hardware... I seat down with him 2 minutes later he sounding like he was getting mad or frustrated with me only because I ask repeated the questions (he tells me ummm yeah that's what I just told you...) like in a arrogant sort of speech.... I have no idea who he is.. sounded like he was mad and I don't even know the guy.. he has tattoos on his arm.. beware of the guy he seems unu...Read more
sual. I won't mention names for security reasons. And also I brought another time a dvd rom and it didn't came with the box.. they said I'm sorry doesn't come with it or we may of took it to inspect the item... I was hmmm that's strange. I mean you need the box so you know what you just brought for warranty purposes.... and recently I brought a new expensive keyboard.... everything works fine but the keyboard has a peeep constantly almost can be heard and its annoying... Sounds like something electronic in the keyboard it self that can be heard to some people. I completely don't recommend computer alliance know-days. They used to be pretty good some years ago... maybe more friendlier years ago but know-days they are rude/ignorant and be-aware of some new items you buy sometimes they don't even come with its original box at all.. You need that to at least see what you brought and for warranty proposes if you end up taking it to the brand company for fixing. But the most principle is... know-days the workers there are some what rude even arrogants... and fixing your computer there takes more then almost 2 weeks.. Years ago they could of fix computers in just under 2 or 3 days... there was a one time where you could pay another 20 dollars to speed things up and they would do it. Know-days all that won't be the same as how it used to be. Nowadays I would blame the most of the workers there... they seem to have new faces every now and then. The place is almost a dead place to be honest. And I recommend everyone at least to try UMART... the Umart is another computer store in Brisbane where they have everything. They even built and fix things quickly. Not like computerliance which most of the people working there are like gutless rude people. Not everyone there but most in my experience of how I felt the so what (welcome to the store) where it was more like whatever...Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!
Avoid - terrible customer service and expensive!
Terrible customer service and ripoff prices. I've shopped there a couple of times, but never again. Tried to return a dodgy product (under warranty) and they refused unless I also provided some tiny screws (probably cost all of about 10c) that came with it. Also charged $90 to write a letter saying that my computer was stuffed.

Poor staff attitudes, but not much other choice
I've shopped at Computer Alliance many times over many years. Being a "techy", I haven't needed to consult their staff much but those couple of times that I've needed to ask if they have an item in stock their staff just seem to be invisible. There doesn't seem to be much organisation among the staff and the layout of the room confuses the customers trying to find the queue.
I think the easiest way to purchase any parts from them is to order what you need online and just come in to pickup the order. But obviously this is only possible for pe...Read more
ople who are capable of making their own decisions on such matters - its not for everyone..The limited facetime I've had with them I found them to be quite arrogant so I just try to avoid them as much as possible. The competitors in the local area have been reduced since about 5 years ago when there were a few competitors but now there's really only CA and Umart - and trust me you don't want to have a warranty problem with Umart. I'd rather pay the few dollars more on each item (yes CA is usually a few dollars pricier per item) to just not have to deal with the garbage support of Umart. Umart has a different focus altogether and they do often successfully undercut CA's prices but there's a whole other bag of customer service related problems there. So between a rock and a hard place, CA is there and if you have the know-how to order what you want they're okay. Very mechanical, but at least you walk out with the product that you chose. For everyone else... its pot luck. I personally think that the problems are mostly staff related and it probably stems from an airy attitude of overconfidence in technology. Compare their service with the Apple genius bar and you'll see a significant difference in quality of attitudes. If I came across another business that supplies pc parts in the local area that focused on delivering a more seamless customer experience with staff who aren't full of themselves, I'd jump ship in a blink.Similar opinion? Great Price Terrible Warranty Service After.
One of the best places in town to buy your computer with knowledgeable sales assistant and good price, although you do tend to have to wait your turn as they take a while to go through everything. they also have a good selection of products.
They do however have a separate section the deals with repairs and warranty service jobs and they are extremely slow. They state on their repair receipt that they have up to 10 working days to get your computer back to you and they will take that amount of time, it will sit there for a week before they eve...Read more

Great products, rude staff
I have been here three times now, and I can honestly say that the most recent time was one of the worst episodes of service I have received. My 16 year old needed an ultra book for school, so I did my research, knew the minimum specs, what programs we would need to be able to run etc. had already looked at their online store and knew that they had a range of products. My daughter would also lugging the device up a long hill and using public transport every day so it also had to be quite light. We were attended to very quickly and shown a numbe...Read more
r of technically suitable devices. Unfortunately the sales assistant was very condescending and rude to my daughter about what she would probably choose "no doubt something pretty rather than practical" because she was a teenage girl. We emphasized that weight was a significant factor (she is quite small too) but he was steering us to machines that weighed 2kg or more. His tone of voice was appalling too - she got to the point where she refused to engage with him, so I suggested that he leave us to think for a while, which fortunately he did. We were subsequently attended by another assistant who tried to steer us to yet another device, giving us information that contradicted the first assistants advice. I can only assume that the devices that they wanted to sell us were slower moving stock, slower than the stock of devices that were more suited? In the end, we worked it out ourselves. First sales assistant was at the counter when we paid - his comment "which one did you get? Yep happens every time ...teenage girls, doesn't matter what I show them, they always go for the pretty one". Really, really rude assuming that we weren't capable of making an informed decision! NB the pretty one was an Asus ux31a - yes it is pretty, but it met all of our other needs and it only weighs in at 1.3kg. Range, brands, competitive price Rude, arrogant staff.Similar opinion? Non-transparent refund policies
I have bought from this place a few times, and when there are no problems, it is fine. I once bought a wireless desktop network card, but it wasn't working. Requested a refund, but they only gave store credit (even though I should be allowed one). In the end, I had to end up buying things that I didn't really need anyway, just to use up the store credit.
It seems that Computer Alliance don't like to do refunds on defective products when customers should be legally allowed to get a refund.
Store is nice, wide range of products
Only do store credit, staff could be friendlier

Prices have improved, service hasnt
Computer Alliance is my last stop for PC parts. Though their prices have improved, their service is still very ordinary...that is...if you can get served.
It has been apparent whenever i go there that they have a lack of staff. The pickup procedure for online orders needs to be streamlined, so you dont have to wait so long in line.
