I observed an interaction between two staff members in which the shorter staff member, dressed in black, verbally abused the taller staff member. The taller staff member appeared to be attempting to have an open and constructive discussion, but the other staff member was dismissive and unwilling to engage. The behaviour displayed was upsetting to… Read more
witness and, in my view, inappropriate for the workplace. The conduct demonstrated by the staff member in black was unprofessional and created a hostile environment. I believe this behaviour should be addressed and that appropriate action should be taken.
I'm not expecting any response as I see how difficult it is to leave feedback on the Costco website. My brother is a member and he bought two trays of oysters and a few kilos of large peeled prawns for our first meal to be devoured on K'Gari Fraser Island (mid October) He had the fridge in the back of the car and loaded them directly into the… Read more
fridge so they were kept icy cold from store to table. Once we attempted to eat them, there was one tray of oysters that were severely off. A couple of us ended up eating one each before we realised. The rest were definitely rotten and we had to throw them. The prawns were very big and we were looking forward to them as well. ALL the prawns were severely undercooked and raw in the middle. Overall, an expensive seafood meal was grossly disappointing. I would suggest they ensure large prawns are cooked longer than small ones and better quality control be used in the display and sale of the oyster trays. The seafood meal is something we always have on our annual trek to the Island and we have now decided it will not be on the menu in the future. Would love to hear a response, but expect I'll hear crickets.
After so many issues with Costco in the past (including being out of pocket around $350 and losing over 10 hours of my time dealing with new hearing aids) I decided to cancel my membership. I called on the 14th of October and was told that my subscription would be refunded to my card. After not receiving the refund, I called again today (21st… Read more
October) and was told I can’t cancel or receive a refund because I’m not the primary cardholder.
I explained that the primary cardholder is my ex-husband, who now lives overseas. We originally opened the account while running our business, but we’re both retired now. I was the one actively using the membership and making the payments, yet they still refused to process the refund. I even suggested they keep his card open and simply close and refund mine, but they declined.
So, just a word of warning - despite Costco advertising “100% satisfaction guaranteed” and offering refunds on memberships, this may not apply in all cases. There’s no mention of this restriction for business memberships anywhere that I could find. I’m relieved to be done with it and won’t be purchasing anything from Costco again!

False economy, used to be cheaper but not now – Facts: -Not cheaper -No services ie air/ water etc -Prepay at pump with annoying holds on cards ie put $150 pre selection and only use $80 & they hold $150. -Members only ($60) -Prices vary between stations, ie 98 at North lakes yesterday was $1.967 when the exact same fuel further away on the goldcoast (Coomera costco) was $1.887? Other service stations in the north brisbane area had 98 for 1.95, 1.88.... -Always huge ques at north lakes.
Very disappointing Pizza – We buy a pizza once a week from Costco and lately the crust has been getting bigger and bigger but today was beyond disappointing the crust was just under 10cm. Like seriously all the way around is was 10cm and there were minimal toppings on it today too. If this is how your going to me making them from now on we won't be buying them again. Show details
Questionable quality of prescription glasses – My partner kept complaining of all the scratches appearing from a rather expensive set of eyewear and I managed to capture on camera the reason why. Picture says it all. The protective film has been gradually eating away after the 12 - 24 months. So as soon as the warranty ends they fail it appears. We were just outside of warranty before we realised what was actually happening. Show details
Not happy with furniture purchaced – I bought 2 office chairs for my Son and Husband about 2 years ago when everyone had to work from home part time. I am amazed at how the faux leather on these chair has disintegrated both in under 24 months unfortunately at the time I didn't look into the warranty. As these chairs are no longer online I can only go by the current warranty… Read more
regulations which only allows for 12 months on materials . I feel like this is ridiculous considering the price I paid. I wouldn't recommend Costco for Furniture.
Terrible customer service and parking exit problem – Took me an hour to come out from the parking . Made a call to request to close first 2 exit of parking as they do it all other times. I was told yes they do it other times but they can't do it now because it's council's job. Our dairy products stayed on the room temperature for this long and my daughter waited outside her class for an hour. I don't think there should be membership payment if you can't solve these problem. Show details

Well. I’ve been going to Costco for over 4-5 years now, but have to say this time( 1 week ago and my 2nd visit this year) . Thoroughly disappointed. Fuel is usually always cheapest. This time, it’s was at 1.64 when filling stations - Caltex 7 /11… Read more
offering $1.59 and further 4 cents off. Chocolate croissants extremely dry. Bagels were horrible. Fish prices astronomical and so was all butter. I bought very little. Wont be renewing my membership when it expires. 90 % of your produce is cheaper in supermarkets . Tariffs are hitting. !! I think ethically don’t want to support American companies so win / win to stop shopping there
Follow-up · Past croissants were more buttery, moist not dry Washing powder cheaper at Bunnings / Big W Fuel always is ; cents + cheaper than $ eleven / Caltex fuel. Not anymore ! Costco is gouging !

When they first came in Costco's croissants were outstanding. If you bought one packet, you bought many more. They were excellent quality and became very popular very quickly. Sadly, the ingredients have been changed and they're no longer exceptional. Why spoil a perfect product for a few dollars more? Show details
Costco proudly state they offer wholesale prices to the public by charging a membership fee. Fuel prices are generally 14p -16p cheaper than regular forecourts, as they have staff costs and a shop to run. I paid $1.827 a litre at North Lakes today only to find my local BP station in Cooroy is selling diesel for $ 1.78 a litre What’s going on, another consumer con??

Call it Mushroom Stroganoff instead – We decided to try the Beef Stroganoff instead of cooking it at home. This was a terrible mistake as the content does not match the label description and should be called Mushroom Stroganoff! We bought 2x containers of what was mostly a mushroom sauce as we only found around 4/5 slivers of beef in total! This is a very disappointing product to say the least, and my first complaint since my membership started at this store.
Told to go to the back of the queue! – After a long wait, got to the front of the queue at the customer service desk only to be accused by the saleswoman of queue breaking and told rudely to go to the back of the queue! I refused as I was there before all of the others behind me that had formed a separate line behind my back. In the end she relented and said she “didn’t see” me.… Read more
However the rudeness continued throughout the interaction and treated it as my fault. Very unprofessional and biased.
Pizza shock – I bought pizzas on Thursday. Probably the worst pizza I ever had. The base tasted like cardboard and the filling was very skimpy. Definitely not worth the money.
Attitude Problem. If you don’t like it don’t shop here… – The staff at Costco seem to have the attitude that they can say and do whatever they please. The sarcasm and passive aggressive snarls I received because I asked a staff member not to take the trolley that had my child in it away from me. All of this happening while I’m breastfeeding my distraught baby. The gang up mentality when I simply said… Read more
don’t move my trolley, it’s in no one’s way. Well that got 4 staff members all being snarky. All to be told at the end of everything if I don’t like it don’t shop here…. Not sure what I wasn’t meant to like, the only thing I didn’t like was a handful of staffs attitudes towards me. And once I call head office to put in a complaint to head office I won’t be back. Because you’re right I don’t like it.
Like we care – From the moment you walk in, the staff’s tone can feel a bit off. While they greet you with a polite “Sir” or “Ma’am,” it’s often followed by something that feels a little patronizing: “You can’t stand here,” or “You’re going the wrong way.” It’s that kind of overly polite yet subtly off-putting behavior that makes you feel more like the… Read more
inconvenience than the customer.
At the exit, things don’t improve much. Your receipt is checked with a level of scrutiny that makes it feel like you're trying to sneak something past them. Coupled with the chaotic layout, long lines, and the constant sense of being shuffled around, it’s clear Costco prioritizes efficiency for them, not a pleasant experience for you.
The cashier aisles are often blocked by unattended trolleys, which only adds to the congestion. With most of the registers closed, you're left to use the self-checkout. It’s convenient, sure, but you’re essentially doing the work of a cashier for free. That's one one to get around slave labour.
Then there’s the tyre service. To get to the tyre centre, you need to line up with all the other customers entering the store, pass through the cashiers, and exit before you can even hand over your car. Once that’s done, you’re forced to get back in line to re-enter because they won’t let you take a shortcut. It’s as if they’ve deliberately designed the process to be as inconvenient as possible.
On top of that, there’s the lack of payment options—no AMEX in 2024 is just behind the times—and the strange surveys. For instance, after booking a tyre service, you get a survey asking you to rate the tyres before they’ve even been installed. It just doesn’t make sense.
Costco’s prices might draw people in, but their systems and attitude seem to suggest they’re too big to care. If they don’t address these issues, even their competitive prices won’t be enough to justify the hassle.
Excellent Optometrical Examination – I have visited many Optometrists (National & International) and believe that Peter at COSTCO Optometrical is one of the most thorough, professional & personable professionals that I have met. Manager Refused to Keep the Word of Employee – Very poor customer service. An employee promised me a refund over the phone upon my next visit, but when I got to the store the next time, the manager on duty said that there was never a record of my call. I did make a mistake of leaving a tray of eggs in one of the closed registers as I packed my groceries in a box. When I got home and realised… Read more
this happened, I called the store to ask if the eggs were still there so I can drop by and pick them up. It seems they did find it, but the person I spoke to, who took my membership card details, said I can just get a refund when I visited next time. I said thank you and ended the call satisfied. Sadly, on my next visit, when I asked for the refund as I was told, even though the manager acknowledged that whoever I spoke to probably forgot to note what was said to me, she said that I cannot have a refund because I did not know the name of the person I spoke to. I even showed them the call log on my phone that I indeed called their store. It seems you cannot trust the word of Costco employees if you don't know their names.

Rude staff – Very inexperienced and unorganised retailer. They closed at 6pm on Moreton EKKA holiday. Their website stated close at 8.30pm!! asked me to open their webpage, and scroll to the bottom of the page and it showed they closed at 6pm on 12/8. But the top of their webpage showed 8.30pm!! So they expect people will go to their website and scroll to the bottom before we go and shop there!! They can’t even bother to change their business hours on Google or the top of their page!! I saw many cars still coming in when we left at 6.15pm!! They should get rid of those lazy arrogant staff, including this young inexperienced woman, as a manager!! Not even know how to manage simple business hours on their website!
Stock availability – Costco's marketing model is atrocious. They don't stock items regularly and have no online product listing telling me if stock is in store. If you ask one of the staff (and they are helpful) you can only get a bland answer. It's 18k to Costco only to find the item isn't in stock. Appalling Behaviour – Today, I visited the gas station and was appalled by the behavior of a male employee towards a female staff member. of the situation. I hope she reported the incident to the authorities, as I believe it constitutes assault and is a clear case of workplace bullying. I sincerely hope that Costco, where this incident occurred, does not tolerate such behavior and takes appropriate action. It is worth noting that the female worker, with whom I have interacted in the past, has always been kind and helpful towards me. As a concerned customer, I urge for a resolution to this issue.
They don't bother to assist you – I have been a member with Costco for a very long time and have always been happy. Of course, the moment something goes wrong and you need them to solve an issue on their end, this is where you see what they are made of. Please be careful when paying for fuel as the company will leave your initial payment pending for 2 weeks if needed so they don't need to do anything to assist their members. God forbid. Painful experience – Visited the store once but realised that pretty much all groceries we looked at were more expensive than we would pay in Aldi. Untrained Pathetic Staff – Costco Northlakes need to train their staff on their exchange/return policy. I bought a Miele vacuum from here and it stopped working while it was still in warranty. that I was entitled to a refund. Went inside the store and told them what had happened and they agreed to refund WITHOUT a complaint number. Simply wasted 45 minutes on call. Again, I bought a Dyson vacuum around 5 months ago and it abruptly stopped working. Talked to Dyson and they said I should be able to exchange or get a refund at Costco. Went to the store and they again started asking for a PROOF that I talked to Dyson. The product is under two years warranty but they are telling me that they can’t do an exchange for change of mind (that’s valid for only 3 months). Told them several times that the product is faulty and it is not change of mind but they kept on insisting on proof to take back an under warranty product. I then chatted with Dyson (to collect proof) and showed them the issue. They agreed that the product is faulty and, after asking a couple of times, are still confused why Costco is unable to offer a refund. Pathetic people at front desk.
Gluten free bread – I have always gone to Cosco to stock up on my gluten free bread which was always the best.
