22th September, 3:00pm. Extremely rude staff
My family and i entered Costco with a bright spirit after a great day out to only be destroyed by the lady at the front door with short blonde hair, old and wears glasses. I’m aware she’s doing her job HOWEVER, she can tell us about customer policy in a polite manner. As an asian family I don’t appreciate her breaking her words down in syllables- assuming we don’t understand english. We were unaware of the policies, she pointed at us saying ‘you, you and you’ (indicating how many people can come in with one card) and glared her eyes. This did n...ot happen to just our family but numerous others. I’ve seen many reviews of many of your staffs disgusting attitude. Fix this. One lady at the exit door today (5pm) was extremely welcoming and kind and i hope the rest of your staff learn a thing or two from her.
They dont answer their phone ???
Just trying to call them to ask a few quick questions, but they dont even answer their phone, same with the Ipswich store. Must be company policy to be arrogant, as usual with companies like these.
paid $60 to join but after this first experience I won't return. Rude staff at the door were impolite and off putting. Inside bargains were average, careful shopping elsewhere will get you as good or better savings. Bought fuel and they have you estimate how much you will get which is then taken from your bank with a promise to refund excess $ if you don't use the full amount. 10 days later and the $30 I didn't use is still not returned.
Need to report to Brisbane QGSC #Very bad customer experience and Racism in NorthLake Costco
Hi Executive team of Costco Northlake store,
This is Wendy, I went to your store this morning at around 10:30am and prepare to pay at around 11:40am.
But I got stopped because of me using my friend’s card.
I was told that it’s not OK and I did want to open my new card when I understood your very strict policy, until I heard one of your cashier laughing very loudly and said to her so-called manager: "Hahaha I got another one! I got it! “
At that moment, I was ashamed being treated like a “thief" and she, who dressed in Green and pregnant, trea...t herself and the team as “Police”. What kind of the service employee attained their qualify work permit by treating customers as “thief”? The most unbelievable thing is: The woman took my friend’s card and stated it like she was the Queen “your friend have to pick this card by herself ! You are not allowed to take it!” What right do you have to take another person’t private property?!
The worst customer service and not that cheap!
I went to the North Lakes Costco. All staff members that I spoke to were rude and had an attitude from the entry staff to the customer service desk. They do not seem happy or friendly. It is like the culture of the business is to not care about their customers. I shopped there once and I am regretting paying the membership.
Also the products are actually not that cheap. Don't be fooled by buying in bulk - make sure to check the equivalent price. I thought a lot of items were MORE expensive then the regular supermarket.
Not worth the drive.
Roast chicken not cooked
Bought roast chicken from costco north lakes yesterday . Not cooked also have photos. Never buy one again. Very disappointed. Felt ill just looking at it.
We always buy our tyres from Costco North Lakes, Brisbane. The guys are always friendly, service is great and so are the prices! Highly recommend.
I think people should be aloud to browse to see if membership is worth buying especially big ticket items .
Most of the things they sell I don't usually buy. I am a bargain shopper and mostly buy the products at coles, woollies or Aldi when it's cheap. So I wouldn't save money on most food items like bulk junk food, meat, canned things etc. However they have massive and cheap cooked chickens and for business purposes I buy stacks of toilet paper and laundry detergent and save a bundle buying it at Costco. Not completely sure I'm saving $60 a year though. I've also bought a couple of TVs there which were a good deal. Cleaning products are cheaper at t...he supermarkets when on special, fruit and veggies are cheaper elsewhere or at least the same price. Also had some good deals on bulk hand towels and pillows at Costco. But not everyone needs to buy those. Maybe it would be a better deal if I didn't have to drive 40 minutes to get there. Horribly rude staff
Hi, I got the roster chicken yesterday not cook. I got the photos too. We all pay money and we travel 1 to 2 hours to get there.
I have to give you 5 Stars - My Review is Both - Good and Bad.
I joined Costco when it first opened, YES, I stayed in the Que for Hours, waiting to see what all this fuss was about.
It was all A-Buzz in Northlakes, Brisbane North.
I felt my first experience was that of going to Disneyland. The Build up was immense. Especially walking in the doors, for the very first time,
Its was HUGE. ....And YES , I made the Classic ROOKIE Mistake. Buying everything, thinking I was going to miss out. The Size's of the Items were amazing.
And Yes -- Like many before me, and no doubt after me. When you hit the Checkout. in my case. Some $600 later. I wondered what I had done.
A day out at the local Costco was very interesting. It was like the old Campbell's Cash & Carry stores we had to recent although, on a larger scale.
Cant say I'll go back as I don't want to buy 6 jars of coffee when I've never seen or heard of the brand and the same applies to nearly everything.
No complaints as we need stores that offer a different shopping experience.
My mum brought a membership for my boyfriend for Christmas and now he’s my ex boyfriend. They will not refund the money or change it into my name even tho he’s has not collected the card yet. What a waste of money!!! The staff there are useless. Head office are useless also. I will not recommend Costco at all. The staff are rude and not helpful.
Returns Policy beware
Wanted to return an item because it was not working. I was told by the lady in the Returns Counter that I had to ring manufacturer first before i get a refund. When I told her that the costco website says otherwise she said there is no costco aus website. When i showed her the costco.com.au website, she said “we have nothing to do with that website”
There are no words to describe the frustration & disappointment.
I went to buy a printer and lawn mower and maybe a computer. I have been looking at Costco in the USA on line they have massive varieties of these products. So we joined the Aussie one.
We were pretty excited when after two and quarter hours drive they had one lawn mower to choose from and two printers all just nasty nasty junk. On top of this the prices were the same as retail at JB Hifi and Harvey Norman and Bunnings. I know because I have checked them out. I spoke to a sort of manager in the store and asked why the prices were so dear and...
Awesome awesome awesome
What’s not to love! It’s awesome! Just wish there was a Gold Coast location. Closest thing to American products that we can find. Yes some things are no cheaper than in other supermarkets, but most are, and the range of products are much different and better quality than others u find in our ‘normal’ supermarkets. Food court is great as well. Cheap and great size portions. Fill up before u shop.

Very high quality food and products
We head out to Costco about once every two weeks for a couple of essentials:
+Brilliantly trimmed lamb chops
+Mix of beef steaks
+Various chocolates and treats
++Lots of free samples
+A slice of pizza or two (of the massive pizza).
Overall, for the quality and quantity that you get for the money, Costco is a fantastic experience. The membership paid itself in the second week when we bought a car battery. They also have car tyres at around 20% off on average.
Costco is amazing!!
Membership is so worth it! I am a first year member and even though I live 40 mins away, I would go twice a month. I have saved heaps by buying in bulk and love the products that you can’t get anywhere else.
Amazing value & amazing staff
Amazing staff always smiling and happy to help in any way they can. Competitive pricing often lower than the big retailers (bearing in mind its bulk buying). Signature brand is of a great quality and in some cases our preferred brand!
Love costco and great savings
We bulk buy and recently got 10 tubs of best foods mayo @ $7.49 each, when we would normally pay $20-25 a tub!
The savings speak for them selves the membership allows us these great prices and shopping here 10 to 12 times a year even with the $60 membership fee still saves us big time.
Always brilliant... but there are always people who have a complaint
Costco is not a store, it is a club. That is the biggest thing that people need to remember. It's not like Coles/Woolies/Harvey Norman. It is not open to the public, it is open to members. There are clear rules regarding that (like the member has to pay) which is clearly stated on their website at
"https://www.costco.com.au/frequently-asked-questions#20-Can I bring guests to Costco?"
You need a membership to enter, and that membership is guaranteed. If you want to go in, buy the membership. If you feel that it's not for you, then yo...u go to the member counter and advise them that you want to cancel because it's not for you. They will refund your membership fee in full (even if you have a trolley full of goods you just purchased) Some things might be more expensive but the quality I have found on everything I have purchased to be exceptional. Every year our first shop at Costco more than easily recoups the cost of the membership. Heck, the fuel savings alone does that in a couple trips. If someone's not a member and on ProductReview complaining, they shouldn't be. It's not being rude or obnoxious. It's a club for the members and anyone can become a member. If you don't like that, it's fine but complaining that you don't want to follow rules, that's not fine.
Waiting in a long line to get through the check out is one thing and we do so without complaint, but waiting in another queue to get out the door is another. There general policy is : 'To ensure that all members are correctly charged for the merchandise purchased, all receipts and merchandise will be inspected as you leave the warehouse.' What a load of rubbish. Not once have I seen an employee check all the items in a trolley against the items on a receipt but they do keep everyone waiting. What gets me is the long queue and only 1 person...doing the 'supposed' checking. I am not going to wait in another long line for some farce and here is some news for you Costco - the receipt is my property and if I don't want to hand it over, I won't.
Not so perfect
Great shop let down by a product. Its meant to be rings of lightly breaded calamari salt and pepper Rings.???
Red Raw Roast Chicken
Have been members for a couple of years and shop there sporadically for mainly food items. Today I bought a roast chicken amongst other items. the problem with the chicken is it is not cooked at all on the inside. Have just poured into a bowl about three cups of red, bloody water from the container it was in. Have tried calling at 6.00pm but nobody answers. I have driven 40kms to Costco and really don't feel inclined to go back there ever again with no one even manning phones to report this health hazard
Unhappy won't go back anymore
We had received a terrible and rude service from a male staff who promotes curry powder/paste at north lakes today, can't believe people like this one can work in the retail? I've seen once only- the first time of my life in nearly 40ys!!
