Very happy with Dale Alcock and new home. The house has turned out what we expected. Quality and Style.
We choose Dale Alcock for it's reputation - and it holds up. The site manager was top notch. His eye for detail/service and communication was terrific and made the whole building experience enjoyable. The staff (liaison and pre start consulting) were helpful.

Dale Alcock Home - Legian Build
Having done a bit of research prior to selecting a builder including word of mouth plus gathering our own experiences from the Builder's display villages, we were confident that Dale Alcock would meet our expectations and whilst not being the cheapest (initially at least), we were confident in what we would get for our money and that we would have a quality product at the end of the build. Dale Alcock have not failed to meet our expectations and having had friends who have chosen competitors for their builds, confirms that we made the right de...cision when choosing Dale Alcock. We had one or two minor issues but the way Dale Alcock responded, it is apparent they take customer care and their reputation seriously, which is the most important thing. One of the main benefits for us was knowing what we would get in the end, through clear product information, access to Dale Alcock Central and a good selection of display homes, we were confident that we knew what we'd be getting in the end. We're super pleased with the result. Professional, open, customer focus, quality Pre-construction admin
Professional and well managed
We are based in Singapore and only visited our home for pre-handover and key handover in the final stage. Being remote and not being able to inspect the house during the various stages was nail-biting, however Dale Alcock were very professional and the communication was excellent. They sent constant emails detailing each stage of the build.
Overall, the build was finished to a good level of quality however there were a number of snags and issues. Most of these were just plain stupid and down to lazy and sloppy tradespeople, e.g doorknobs fi...tted incorrectly, missing tiles, etc. I felt these could have been rectified early had the site manager been onsite more and I am surprised that I had identified these issues at pre-handover when they should have been spotted earlier, e.g there were some bricks missing from one of the exterior walls! These issues are not earth shattering and easily rectified and when I did highlight them, Dale Alcock moved fast to rectify. Overall a good experience from start to finish. god communication, responsive, professional Some sloppy work by tradespeople that should have been identified and remediated early in the build phase
Building with Dales
Our site managers motto was "Everything is easily fixed". So it was no problem when we wanted things changed, he came up with a solution. The contractors were of a high standard, particularly Haigh Painters. We have ended up with our dream house at the end of this build thanks to Dale Alcock.
Dale Alcock central is excellent for helping select all the interior fixtures
2010 build, individual design - better late then never
It was 4 years ago and the home has already been sold but we now feel strongly that we should give credit where credits due.
From sign up to handover was exactly 12 months, not a bad result for what was pretty much our own design and requiring a bit more thought.
We had some small issues with initial drawings being incorrect several times, which caused delays. We also didn't quite feel the love at prestart, even though it was methodical and thorough. As an example and maybe things are different now from 2009, but I personally felt very ...frustrated having to choose DAH's combinations of tiles which did not appeal and being told that, no I cannot change the combinations or choose our own. I couldn't really individualize the home very much at all as it was strongly discouraged. The actual build started during what I still recall as the wettest winter I can ever remember in Perth, with the brickwork being saturated almost on a daily basis. We had no major hiccups or delays despite this. All trades were polite and good at their craft; special mention goes to the carpenter, painter and tilers, absolutely awesome work. The only negative we recall during this time is the amount of CLO's we went through. 4 in 6 months which was crazy. Communication with the office in general was poor and we pretty much relied on the SS or trades to keep us up to date. After handover, at the 6 month maintenance period and far beyond is where DAH really excelled. We had some problems with sliding door movement and continual cracking of walls in a couple of rooms. DAH's response, cause of action and follow up was impeccable and after using several methods of correction the problems were solved to a high standard. At all times was our home left in good condition with walls repainted (and no they had not painted internally as part of the contract) to a standard that we couldn't tell there had been a problem in the first place.
No Different to the other cheap builders.
Went with Dale Alcock because of the perceived "reputation" and to be fair he (Dale Alcock) was prepared to meet with us face to face and was very pleasant and charming.
I was disappointed that they stooped to same dodgy misleading sales practices as others.
Site costs were provisional "because we can't possibly estimate" yet once we signed the contract the contractor was immediately able to submit a detailed costing (twice what had been allowed.)
We were impressed by their list of included features, only to attend the pre-construction c...

We can't fault the process!'
We can honestly not fault our building process.
Everything went smooth and rather quickly. Months quicker then we thought it would be.
[name removed], our prestart consultant was a great help and was never put out helping us.
[name removed] has be extremely helpful in everyway when it comes to helping us. She even worked off the clock for us, which is amazing and extremely appreciated and [name removed] our supervisor was really helpful and easy to deal with.
The people that we have had helping us were amazing and we can only speak very highly of them.
After hearing of Dales reputation and after visiting their showroom we were excited to build our first home with them but 3yrs on we are very disappointed ! As I'm writing this my husband is patching cracks in our walls , we had issues with plumbing in the toilets and the most disappointing issue was our ensuite shower leaking which has caused extensive water damage to the surrounding walls, only to be told by Dale Alcock that it was caused by failing silicone which they only give a 12mth warranty for so therefore it is our responsibility and cost to fix. Oh but they did give us the name of a company who could reseal the shower for us !!!!! What a joke, you don't expect this from a 3yr old house.
Disapointing and frustrating journey to our build.
Our foundations and slab are down. And the wait begins...... queried where our building materials were to be told there is a "brick shortage" although everyone around us building did not seem to have a problem. The materials finally arrive and no building commences.... once queried we are told they do not have a bricklayer for our build. Is there no forward planning? ( Now told they have one to start in ten days.) This is a very scary start as we went with DAH as we thought them to be reliable and they were far from cheap! We don't expect th...is lack of professionalism and there poor planning and time management costs us money as we would need to rent for longer. After reading many other reviews the quality issues are no also a big concern for us. NO LONGER EXCITED.
Overall good experience
Dale Alcock Homes Thank you for the oppportunity I found the journy exciting and would like to repeat it again in the future.
The staff have been excellent and have made every effort to assist me during the process. All the trade work was completed to a high standard and were freindly and pleasant to talk with.
Some follow up items have yet to be addressed, however I have confidence that the remaining items will be adressed. One of these items was the septic tank. The septic tank had to be installed after key hand over. This was rather ...distressing when I found out, as early in the building process, I querried if the septics had been installed with the site manager. The system was put in an unintended location as cabling and piping was in the way. When the septic tank was being installed, the installer apparently made mention, that He had not seen piping and wiring in sepparate locations before. I do not know what to make of this type of comment! Dispite this overall I am very happy with the house and the building experience. Thankyou Dale Alcock Homes! Good team of people One issue with septic tank

Referring entry to this forum by Dale Alcock, I can assure this IS a genuine review. We had no issues from sign up to Hand Over; faults after handover are another matter. Our vanities were not built to plan and we have water damage on our cupboard doors. Dale's Remedy: Replace the cupboard door which just prolongs the inevitable. The vanities in their current display homes & a neighbouring DA home are built correctly. There is too much excessive plaster cracking for our liking, DA response: Building settlement, yet the neighbouring DA house has...Zero cracking. Our house was built in the 'brick crisis' of 2005 & we believe they may have contributed to the plaster cracking due to the bricks not being cured. They supplied a substandard Rheem LoLine HWS which has failed miserably (Look that one up on this site!). DA & Rheem’s response: Hard Water. Essentially DA has just fobbed us off with a letter and some more cupboard doors. Consumer Affairs is our next step... The rhetoric on their website about not forgetting about ‘Tomorrow’ & the ‘Dale Alcock Difference’ makes me physically ill. The Design, Pre-Start, Build Time AFTER SALES SERVICE - Lack of
I built my first home with West Australian Building Centre (BGC) had heaps of problems with the build, main thing being the pad was laid in wrong spot and them wanting me to sign a variation saying that it was my responsibility. After sorting this out house was built. Dale Alcock homes was very different in this aspect. The Pre-start went very smooth and the build was done in a little over 6 months, 5 years ago during the boom, which I thought was exceptional. Had raised ceilings through the living and garage, solar rheem hotwater system, whic...h when booster runs is so noisy can be heard through all the living areas. Both DA and rheem say this is normal (yep whatever you reckon). Had so much cracking in walls and where cornices join the walls. Waited ages for any response from DA. They blamed the maintenance girl who was apparently hiding jobs and she was subsequently removed from the employ of DA. Anyway they did the usual fixes, but soon after all cracks reappeared, including cracking of tiles around bath. The worst crack is in the NE of the games room. It runs around from the north wall to the east wall. And it opens up at least 2-3mm in very hot weather. DA had one crack (pardon the pun) at fixing it. The tradie was good, he said" if it cracks again let us know and we'll pin it" Well it cracked again but DA maintenance girl said it wasn't their responsibility. Also during the initial inspection I had to deal with the maintenance supervisor who was the most condescending arrogant [censored word removed] around (Early mid twenties. Not having ago at GEN Y, but what experience did he have). He was making all excuses like the retaining wall to the side of the house was responsible for all the cracking, or maybe the house next door, or the paving blah blah, obviously he had been well coached in the art of bull-dust. The small entry verandah ceiling kept lifting in strong winds. They didn't belive me and nothing was done. That was until it collapsed on the ground leaving the front of our house open to any burglar to climb in the roof space and in through the manhole. All in all the house is not too bad but sick of patching up moving cornices and cracking walls. After 5 years this should have stopped with the ground settling. I can only hope. We chose DA because of the issues we experienced with BGC. At least the BGC house which was built in the Somerley estate in Clarkson after 7 years did not have one crack in the walls and no other maintenance issues. What really made us laugh was after your poor maintenance someone from your office called us to see if we needed another house built by your company. We are currently looking at building an investment property, but I can assure you it won't be built by Dale Alcock. Just think the few $$$'s you saved on maintaining our house you will lose many times over when we look for another builder. Time of build and prestart After build service and product quality
They made the building process so easy
I decided to build with Dale Alcock Homes after visiting the display house out in Champion Lakes. It was the moment that I walked into the house and I knew that I wanted to build it. Problem was, was that it was out of my budget. [name removed] the Sales Rep was excellent to deal with and made all the necessary changes to the house to get it within my budget
The actual build process was great. I was building this on my own and was a bit daunted by all.(and a bit scared there are so many horror stories out there about building) However my fears were ill founded I had no horror stories to tell
I loved every minute of the process and I love it even more that I am living the dream as they say!!!
The communication and service

Whereto start. The shoddy brickwork, the windows larger than expected, the fridge recess smaller than required, a water pipe positioned in the base of a wall, the wall built over and around it and the pipe then 'bent' to do the job it was meant to, little mortar in the bricks, RSJs holding the tiled roof up but balanced on 3 or 4 wood off cuts- not changed despite our Independent Building Inspector telling them it was 'bad practice'-no ABS found for that??? The guys drinking beer on the job, dry walling ripped open to amend placement of plumbin...g, filled in with cement/mortar and smoothed by hand not trowels and re-filled to the depth of the drywalling. Being told plasticwastes are standard in our house which is supposed to have 'de luxe' fittings and much much more. We have had it up to our eyes The fact they would build to our plan. The rep was excellent. The staff have been courteous. Some of the Tradies have been excellent. Being told what we could have in OUR dream home.We are paying nearly $500,000 for our home and are "not allowed" to have OUR choice. The cabinetmaker won't do ..., the tiler won't lay....Going through a 3rd party at Pre-start.Being charged over the odds for tapware, and no doubt many other things. And being treated like children. There are ongoing issues, we haven't had handover yet.
The finish on our house has been let down by poor workmanship by the plasterers, painter and the door fitter who also did the skirting boards was diabolical. We are still waiting for our exhaust ducting to be fitted to our rangehood and 2 toilets and are still not happy with finishes of doors and skirting after moving in 5 months ago.Not sure if we would recommend to others but unfortunately may be one of the better project builders. What does this say about the state of the building industry in W.A. if you have to settle for substandard quality...for probably the biggest amount of money you will ever spend. May be easier to swollow if the company owners (Dale Alcock) lost a little of the ego trip and were a bit more honest about what they can deliver and charge accordingly. No one can help feeling ripped off when you pay inflated prices and get well below that in workmanship standards. Good choice of house designs. Our build was very quick which is always important when you are paying rent at the same time but then again we did have a 7 month build guarentee. Our sales person was incompetent and misinformed us about things we could do for 6 months, he lied and got caught out but failed to appologise or even acknowledge what had happened. We were then informed at prestart that certain changes should have already been done with our sales person and it was too late. Our build has not been too stressful but we were at the site nearly every day to check for mistakes so they could be rectified immediately but communication was poor from our superviser, which made our final weeks and move extremely stressful.
We like others were recommended Dale Alcock but we cannot say the same. We still like the design and the fact that we could make the changes we made. We are already over the house before we have moved in all due to staff not listening making the whole process hard work.
Designs & choices. The fact that you did not sign the contratc until after pre start.
We are just completing our build and from the begining of our build we had concerns regarding one wall and have asked to see senior people regarding this wall. With no avail. We now have to decide if the wall is good enough for us to sign for the house. This combined with other nore ninor details have made the build something we would not want to repeat and not receommend to anyone else.
We built with Dale Alcock (the Metro) around 4.5 years ago and found the experience better than what we thought it would be.
The house was finished before time, built well and the people that we dealt with were very helpful, especially the supervisor.
The only real issue that we are having with the house is a few cracks (which I guess is normal) and the painting. I have had to repaint the door, the gutters need to be repainted sooner or later (as the paint is flaking off) and the part of the front render is being discoloured in a few spots.... I put this down to the painters (they did a bad job on my cousins DAH house also) and wish they did a better job. The cabinetmaking in the house is well made, no issues in either the kitchen, the ensuite or rear bathroom. The roof seems to be holding up with no leaking or issues. Just about everything Painting
