Very poor performer
I wouldn't buy one of these again. There are two reasons:
1. It has a dial for toast colour. But one notch cooks the toast too little, and the next notch cooks it too much. So you cook it on the lighter side, then stand over it to cook the toast a little bit more.
2. It is terrible if you only do one piece of toast. One side gets burnt.
Our Jury is Still Out on this Toaster
Our toaster 'died' for no apparent reason just as the 12 months warranty was about to expire. And it had had a very easy 12 months of use. Fortunately the retailer was most understanding and replaced it. But why did it die? We don't know for sure but we suspect the element failed because, after all, what else can possibly go wrong? Elements for most brands of electric toasters are very similar and have remained unchanged since Adam played full back for Jerusalem. You would think, that after all these decades, that someone could produce a reall...y reliable element cheaply and put a long warranty on it. We have our replacement toaster, and if it also dies prematurely DeLonghi will get a letter from me, and I'll also put out a public appeal for someone to show toaster manufacturers how to design and produce a cheap and reliable electric element that can be warranted for say 5 years. So for this product, our jury is still out.
