Wouldn’t buy a new one
Loud, very loud for a premium kettle, taste is fine. It’s slower than most, but that’s because of the 1.7l volume, which is larger than most.
Had this kettle now for 5 yrs now, average 3 boils a day, but it disappointed me from the very first year for what you would be touting the looks. The chrome started peeling the first year and asked if something could be done about, the staff at the good guys said it wasn’t an issue that could be resolved.
Purchased in April 2015 at The Good Guys for $129.00.
Looks good. Bought from Myers.
Water tastes fine, level hard to see. Speed of boiling okay. Colour very nice. Downhill from here. Lid is very tinny and ill fitting. The worst fault is how quickly the inside base discolours. Every couple of days I boil a couple of cut lemons in it to remove the stains. Even this doesn't work 100% each time. My old cheap red Kmart kettle leaves this expensive one for dead. Glad I didn't throw it out!

Thought I was buying a high end kettle, it stopped working
I purchased the Delonghi matching kettle and toaster as I thought they would look good in my new kitchen, they were expensive and very modern in design - the truth is that they work exactly the same as any ordinary kettle and toaster but they "did look good". I've had them for just over two years and the kettle on/off button has stopped working, I really expected a lot better than this, I've just found my very basic kettle as I really felt like a cup of tea and voila, the very daggy, basic kettle works just fine. In my very humble opinion - t...he Delonghi kettle looks nice but doesnt work anymore - it cost me more than $100, my $12 kettle which is much older, it's no where near as pretty but it still boils water, I have my cup of tea, my $100 would have been better spent on something else. I have nothing kind to say about my Delonghi kettle except Oh, it looks nice!
Purchased in October 2016.
Pretty but rusting from 6 months on
The kettle spout rusted at its base and the brown peeled around the lid from 6 months onwards. I have continued to use it (18 months) and it leaks water everywhere when I fill a pot. Also there is often a significant pool of water at the base following boiling. Need to chuck it as it’s unsafe. Will go back to trusty Russell Hobbs - in my experience their kettles lasted 5+ years. I change the filter, descale etc so it’s not misuse/abuse just poor design and workmanship.
Very heavy even when empty
almost impossible to see water leveler which is hidden behind the handle; cannot understand the logic behind it if there is any
lid gets hot and must be careful when pulling it off
Would not recommend it to anyone and specially not elderly people
The more expensive model does not seem any better
Checking with retailer if I can return it

I can’t get in touch with the company?
Not happy, product just over 12 months old - expensive. Obviously high price does not equal quality. The on and off switch does not work. Tried to call someone- no contact numbers - all on line. All I want is a replacement or a person to talk to but it seems no one will take responsibility for an item that is clearly faulty.
I purchased both Icona Vintage kettle and toaster on 15/12/14 from JB HI FI. I'm very disappointed with the kettle as the paint is now peeling off it. I paid $118 for the kettle and $147 for the toaster. The kettle sits on my bench top and now because of it's appearance it now sits in the cupboard. I do find it very loud as well when boiling. The toaster so far is good.

Element burned out after 18 months
The element in the kettle burnt out after 18 months of light use, being turned on a couple of times a day. Delonghi don't care either, hard to recommend a product when the company that makes them don't stand behind their product. Go buy a sunbeam instead still working after 8 years and cost a whole lot less then this piece of junk.
December 21st 2017 Update: Element died after 14 months of use
Used a couple of times a day, the kettle only lasted for 14 months before the element went in it. For a kettle that costs $100 the quality of the k...ettle was questionable. The retailer I bought it from no longer exists and DeLonghi weren't interested in it. Have replaced with a similarly priced sunbeam kettle, hopefully this one lasts a but longer.
Kettle stopped working after 2 years
Bought kettle from good guy's after the first one broke down due to a whistling noise ie it was supposed to silent. We bought a different model which just broke after 2 years. Never again will i buy a delongi kettle very dissapointed with the product. Kettles shouldnt break down after 2 years when it was expensive to pirchase
Looks nice, stopped working @13 months.
Yes - looks great. Functional too.
Lid is a little stiff to get off.
Sad part was when it stopped working at 13 months. DeLonghi have agreed to replace it... after some phone calls. Not sure we will buy any more DeLonghi stuff; did not expect it to fail so soon.
So very disappointed
Bought the kettle and toaster from Harvey Norman. I really couldn't afford it but thought if it was expensive it had to be good. Very cheap bits on it. Now it has decided to heat up to a certain point (not boiling). Now I have to throw out over $100. Not impressed. I thought it was a trusted brand, never again.
Paint peeling off kettle
I bought the matching pair as I loved the red colour. I noticed when I boiled the kettle the red colour changed to a depper red over time the paint has been peeling off. The toaster is still the same lovely red but the kettle looks terrible with paint peeling of and showing the metal underneath, it is still working fine. Disappointed.
Thin plastic base
Purchased this kettle with toaster to match one month ago. Had no problems with the toaster. The kettle was really noisy and very heavy. You could not see where to fill the kettle as the water tank was underneath the handle. You also felt like you had to keep filling it to the maximum even after 2 cups. Also I did not like that it had a black cable, so was very noticeable on the work top.
Had to return them back to John Lewis due to the base of the kettle being cracked where the cable attaches underneath the base. Looking at the base, it looks...
Flybuys purchase. Not what I hoped for, very tinny, unstable on the base, hard to fill via the spout and the lid is not easy to remove. the would not purchase again if I have to replace it. I think they are specifically made for flybuys as other models seem better quality.
second one, but no more!
Bought my first ICONA in Pearl White and matching 4 slice toaster nearly 5 years ago. Replaced the kettle 2 years ago due to the first one leaking and rusting on the outside (wasn't too fussed as we are heavy users) bought a second one only to have the chrome trim of the lid deteriorate in just 12 months. Currently looking to replace both the kettle and toaster (toaster is fine but want to match)
Oh and we are on filtered rain water, so have the rust/brown marks inside too...
Lovely, but flawed
I really liked the look of this kettle; quite stylish for the kitchen and the same colour as our food processor. (The DeLonghi Sherbet kettle matched the Breville Sherbet Food Whizz better than the new Breville Sherbet kettle we have!)
No complaints really except that it started rusting just inside the lid and on the kettle where it made contact with the lid within 2-3 weeks. I started cleaning it away with the intention of just living with it, but really, it wasn't good enough. We replaced it with a Smart Kettle and the one thing I miss is the freedom to boil a smaller amount of water; the Smart Kettle has a minimum of 500mL. Pity. The look was awesome.
Lid is too tight Spout is too sharp Caused accident
After I purchased the kettle, I found the kettle lid to be very tight and required a lot of strength to close the lid. Although I found this inconvenient at the time, because it was just the lid and did not affect the functionality of the kettle, I did not pursue this matter. However last Friday, as I pushed down to close the lid, my hand slipped and landed on the spout of the kettle, causing a very large and deep gash. I was so scared because there was so much blood and I could not stop the bleeding for a long time.
I wouldn't recommend th...is product - the design flaws in this product: (the lid is too tight and the spout is too sharp) are an accident waiting to happen - or in my case the accident already happened. It boils water Lid tight, spout sharp
Very Bad quality and poorly made
We brought this kettle & matching toaster in red to brighten up the kitchen LOOKS great but after about 6 months the lid of the kettles silver ring broke off and inside the kettle itself discoloured. The lid is overly tight and does not remove easily. Other than that it did what its meant to do and boils water, I am looking for replacement so very disappointed with my $119 purchase
Expensive and Poorly made
Leaks from base
This kettle seemed fine at first, but after a few months it started to leak water from the base - we can't exactly see from where, and the problem seems to be increasing as time goes on, although it doesn't leak EVERY time you boil the water, it's maybe a couple of times per week - but sometimes it's a lot of water, and it's pretty annoying not to mention unsafe.
Leaks from base.
Just stopped boiling???
I had bought this just over a year ago. Two days ago I pressed down the latch to boil the water, the light went on and am still waiting for my water to boil 2 days later. I will never buy this kettle ever again. I have a baby and it's just not reliable.
it looks great
Light goes on but just stopped working out of the blue.
