Great deep fryer & easy to use
I've had this deep fryer for 3 days and used it twice. Has to be one of the best buys I have made in a long time. The manual could be a little better but there's an online one at delonghi.com.au to download that is better.
At 1800W of heating, there are more powerful benchtop fryers but the Rotofry has a huge advantage - it uses only 1.2 litres of oil where others use 4 litres. AND you can still do up to 1 kg of food where the bigger units with more oil still only recommend 1.2 - 1.5 kg as a maximum.
The 'roto' part is that the basket with yo...ur food slowly turns, on an angle, through the oil - this does an excellent job of evenly cooking all the food in there. I did fish and chips for 2 with a chicken kiev (Woolies one) the 1st night and fish & chips for 1 with extra chips to go with a hamburger the 2nd night. The chips were double-cooked manually and very good although I will have to work on getting them crisp, Some sweet potato chips got a bit overdone the 1st night so 2nd night I made larger ones and cooked for less time - came out great. The kiew got a bit too brown on the outside so next time I'll drop the heat a bit for that.
Questions & Answers
Looks good but I really need a rectangular basket for cooking pluto pups corn jacks chickos due to their length. And worry the size isn't what we are use to as a family. But really love the rotation & oil drain feature
Have you looked at the Multifry range as these machines are much wider??
Yeah, not really suitable there. But still using it and still very happy with it as recently as last night. :D Perfect for the 2 of us.
Not sure the multifry would work - I had a look on their site and couldn't see specs but it's another round one.
