Pulls Water Out of Thin AirTwo words that best describe this appliance – 'Bloody Brilliant' and as if by magic, it literally pulls water out of thin air.
My sister and I both live in Sydney and when she complained that everything in her wardrobes was covered in mould, I thought she was joking. That was until I went to wear one of my suits and discovered it too was covered with mould. Further inspection revealed everything, and I mean everything from– shirts, shorts, jeans, suits and even my bedlinen was affected by mould…. What...the!
Even the driest homes in Sydney a… Read more · 1re battling with mould and mildew and it’s all because of record breaking rain and it’s been nonstop. From the beginning of April 2022, Sydney had already passed its average rainfall for the entire year, and according to the Bureau it’s not going to stop raining anytime soon. The solution is either a dehumidifier or those little buckets of moisture absorbing crystals. Due to demand, both are as rare as hens’ teeth and delivery delays are up to 3 months. While neither will kill mould or mildew, they certainly help prevent them from developing. Both remove water from the air and help reduce musty odours associated with damp. But most dehumidifiers filter the air as well, reducing the amount of dust in the air which helps to reduce allergens such as dust mites. Dehumidifiers range in price from around $299 to $550. The key differences are size, capacity, power, noise level and measures for air purification. After lots of product comparisons I purchased a Delonghi DEX214F Tasciugo AriaDry Multi Dehumidifier. It had all the features and at $339 it was middle of the road in price. I also took the 3-year extended warranty option which was an additional $49. There was a 2-month delay for delivery but boy was it worth the wait. When it arrived, I found it was well packed to minimise the risk of damage in transit and you simply plug it in and turn it on. But it has a set of functional buttons and like the other Delonghi products I’ve experienced, the instruction book is terrible. This Company fails to appreciate the fact that customers need to understand their products to experience the full benefits and it’s in their best interest to make this as effortless as possible. But before I start on features and benefits the first thing I have to say – it works. Within a few hours the 2.1 litre water storage unit was full, and it continues to pull water out of thin air. I had no idea there was anywhere near that much excessive moisture in the air of my bedroom. Contemporary Design with Integrated Handle • It has a sleek modern design, and the integrated handle makes it easily move from room to room and can be used all over the house. Double Filtration System • It has a dust filter and a removable allergen filter to capture allergens and improve air purity. However, the allergen filter is packed separately and only covers a small surface area which seems strange and in my mind casts doubt on the claim of being Asthma & Allergy Friendly. Laundry Function • For optimum ventilation speed & dehumidifying capacity to rapidly dry clothes Capacity & Water Level Indicator • Suitable for rooms up to 65 m³ • Removes up to 14 litres of excess moisture in 24 hours. • The Transparent tank makes it easy to check the water level at any time. Noise Level • The specifications state Noise level (min-max) (dB(A)) is 40. Now, I don’t know what that means but the reality is that it isn’t silent, and I didn’t expect it to be. But it’s not overtly noise either. I’m a light sleeper and it has been a few feet from my bed on maximum power setting and I have had no trouble sleeping with it on. It also has an electronic anti-frost device (whatever that is) and a tube that allows for continuous drainage instead of the water storage option. This is one of the few appliances around that exceeds expectations and deserves 5 stars but I have penalised them 1 star for the poor intruction guide.
Great unitResearched dehumidifiers on quality and price, tried one first at one house and found performance good so purchased another two for another house, easy to use, quality build quality seems good, great value compared to some others paid $285.00 Bing Lee.
