Diamond energy rip-offs
I have solar. Over two and a half years the feed-in rate has dropped from 22c/kWh to 8c/kWh and the daily supply charge has gone up from 50.219 cents a day to 131.44 cents a day, that is an increase of over 150%. Now you must produce more than 16 kWh daily just to cover diamond energy's supply charge. Previously 3 kWh would cover the daily supply charge. How can they justify this?
Terrible......would give a minus if I could!
My first mistake was having solar installed under a contract that stipulated that Diamond needed to be my provider. With many phones it took them over nine months and numerous phones calls from me to receive a nasty final notice of $1800 or they will cut my power. In the ensuing phone calls not once was I apologised to or did the company admit any fault.
Now to my current situation. We sold the property and the new owners took over the he contract. I rang the company to cancel the direct debit as I felt that the above mentioned amount shoul...d have been paid off. The person on the phone confirmed I was actually in credit but the refund couldn't be finalised until the next bill was issued. Thinking this was strange I let it slide until I had something from them. This took a further three weeks to arrive and to my horror they never changed to the new owner and have charged me for their bill! Now it's been numerous phone calls and I've been given the complete run around and I still don't have my refund for the credit or the money I have paid towards the new owners bill. Does it seem a coincidence that half the names that are appearing on the 5 star rating are the same names of the people who have been giving me the run around on the phone?
Be aware or the disconnection and termination fees
I joined Diamond Energy (DE) at the end of June, I knew I was likely to relocate in the new 3 months so I checked I would not be charged any disconnection/termination/relocation fee beforehand and was assured this would not be the case. I ended up getting another cheaper environmentally friendly provider when I relocated. I received my DE bill on 30 September which includes $20 termination fee and $140 disconnection fee (Ausgrid), DE claims it's not responsible for and cannot do anything about the AUSGRID fee I would have thought DE could ...have organised a meter reading rather than a service disconnection. i have moved house at least 20 times if not more and have NEVER been charged a $140 disconnection fee. I requested my complaint and refusal to pay to be addressed by a manager who has assured me via a voice mail that another bill will be issued with those charges removed. Expect a battle about charges if you choose DE as a supplier then have to discontinue the service or relocate !!! the customer officer who initially took my call did not think it was such a big deal and the issue was not them but with Ausgrid, therefore I should just pay up.
Hopeful at first now just don't want to deal with them
Initially I was hopeful about this company as they had a personal touch to the service and seem to be keen to do the right thing.
Problems first started when I organised for a reprogramming of a new solar capable meter I'd just purchased when they switched me to solar but Diamond ended up throwing out my new meter and replaced with a dumb meter. (The reason I signed up as I told them was because they could avoid this happening and use my existing new meter)
THEN after that major stuff up I was billed for the dumb meter and then had to de...al with months of problems with the meter where Diamond wouldn't get involved in resolving this with citi-power which started as soon as the dumb meter was installed (electrical faults due to the high powered radio transmitters in the cheaply built meter). Next came the billing errors which I had to spend hours helping them resolve with no apology of thanks. Now they are trying to charge me additional fees for meter data that my contract had written in as being part of the service agreed to. They had promised to supply online access to the meter data and this hasn't happened, but now they want to charge for the data that I need for billing verification! Finally the price hikes have arrived.

Not Happy Jan !
I used Diamond Energy as a result of the feedback on this site, given they received 4 stars feedback. My experience is sadly not a happy one though folks. I moved to QLD about 4 months ago from NSW, and as part of the move signed up with Diamond. In the initial signup call, I was told as I had Solar Panels I would be entitled to a feed in tariff of 43c because of the property was on the old contract, instead of the 8c and it was locked in until something like 2020. I even have this in the contract I signed withy them. So I moved in the house, a...nd guess what- 3 weeks later the electricity was cut off as they had not sorted the paper work out with Energex so I’m told. It was off 24 hours and the food in the freezer was worthless, they promised to recompense me - that never happened. Then just last week I received my first bill, they not only charged me for Energex to reconnect me when they cut me off by mistake, but they also put me on the cheaper 8c tariff. When I called I received short shrift and arrogance from the manager denying I should be on the 43c tariff, quoting governmental regs. They suggested I cancel my contract with them when I mentioned the Ombudsmen which I will be... found them arrogant, unhelpful (especially during the power cut off), as well as poor, poor customer service. Very sad considering the rating it received on this site. I cant wait to get rid ! Supposed to be chaep rates - that was rubbish Shocking customer service, not truthful about which Tarrif I was going on, and not truthful about compensation for loss of power.
Great company to deal with
When I had solar panels installed september 2012. I switched to Diamond Energy because they offered a better deal than Energy Australia. If I need to talk to them they answer the phone quickly and are very friendly & helpful.
This company is a dream to deal with after having major account problems with Energy Australia. I highly recommend Diamond Energy.
easy to contact, friendly staff
took a while to get my pensioner concession applied to my account
Best energy company I have found
After having solar panels installed I started checking out solar and green energy deals. We were with AGL who were rubbish - very expensive and almost comically disinterested in connecting us to the grid so we could recieve the feed-in tariff. The guys who installed the solar system had recommended Diamond Energy who I had never heard of. I think they must be a very small company because they actually answer the phone directly instead of pushing buttons 1 and 2 and being passed from here to the Phillipines (like AGL). Anyhow we have just recieved our first bill in 3 months - $45!. We were rapt.
Small friendly company. Solar speciallists. They seem to be on your side instead of trying to bleed you dry.
