Stoked with my conversion kit! Changed the way I commute
Coming up on a year of owning my Off Road Conversion Kit so thought I would add my two cents with a review.
I am absolutely over the moon with this thing! I bought the Kit in store in Southport on the Gold Coast. The staff there were extremely helpful with my questions and were able to recommend the best kit for my needs (a mix of off road and road riding). And boy did they hit the nail on the head with my conversion kit, satisfies all my needs and more!
Upon purchase they offered to install the kit, but I opted to give it a crack myself,...and with the help of their product manuals the installation went fine. I have put heaps of km's on this kit over the past year, both on the street and in the trails in Nerang State Forest, and it has handled everything I've thrown at it. It should be noted the spokes did loosen after a month or two, which is to be expected due to the extra torque and load a motor adds to the wheel. I had a chat with Dillenger and again they offered to tighten the spokes for me, but I have a spoke tool and after a couple initial tighten ups, they've been rock solid ever since. Again I am really happy with my kit and can't recommend Dillenger enough. The amount of money I must have saved on fuel is crazy, as well as the hours of fun I've had on this thing. Cheers!
I love my conversion kit
I needed a simple conversion kit because Im on a budget and I have to say I love my Arc feather kit. It's really easy to install and gives me the boost I need. Really happy
Great product and after sales support
I bought an off road electric bike kit and found it was better than expected. I had a small query after receiving it and very prompt after sales support. I think most reviews here that had a problem have been people trying to get warranty when it has expired or on 2nd hand stuff? thanks Dillenger.
Easy and honest to deal with, have dealt with Dillenger for over 5 years. bob b
I made my purchase over the phone with no problems at all. They have kept their word and the display worked as it supposed to, the packaging was very good, i was treated with respect at all times. bob b
Street Kit 2 year review
I have been using the Dillenger Street kit for over a year now and it has been a joy to use. I bought the product instore at the Gold Coast 2 years ago and converted my mountain bike to commute to and from work. I got about 60km out of the battery from full charge running on max power the whole time. The acceleration is great and will cut through even some of the toughest headwinds. I had one minor problem with the motor controller at around the 1.5 year mark, but it was easy enough to reorder a new one to replace it directly from the gold coas...t shop. Installation was easy enough, the hub motor fit my forks perfectly and everything else went on reasonably well. I only just had enough room for my battery on the bottle hold mounts though. So if your about to buy this kit make sure it will by checking the dimensions of the battery on the Dillenger website. All in all a great product for the price only 900 bucks for 2 years so far of commuting travel costs, which if i was running public transport would be around $2.4k mark.
What a great product
I purchased a upgrade 500w kit for my Dc Trike. The kit fitted perfectly on the front forks. The purchase was so easy and delivery was very quick. Thanks guys it was a pleasure to deal with you.
Good product, good price.
I purchased a conversion kit about a year ago. Initially I was sceptical if the kit would handle my 105kg weight and the large hills in my area.
To my delight it did and I'm very happy with the kit. Straightforward to install and a year later it's still running like the day I bought it.
Hopefully it lasts several years, but for the price and performance I'd be happy if I get 3-4 years out of it or the battery. Well made, compact and quality components.
Buyer Beware Dilinger Electric Bikes !!!
Buyer Beware Dilinger Electric Bikes !!! - If you have an issue after purchase kiss your money goodbye!!!!
The battery control module short circuited due to leaving the charger cord attached while moving the bike which damaged the socket and caused a short circuit. The kit is only 14 months old.
I contacted Dillinger and was instructed to send the battery to them for assessment. I sent a detailed letter with the battery and spent $30 on postage. One week later I received a sternly worded email from [name removed] stating “you are not to ...send a battery to us unless you contact us first”. They obviously do not communicate to each other as this is exactly what I did. [name removed] simply stated that the mechanic assessed the battery and it cannot be fixed. Considering the battery cells are the overwhelming expensive part of the battery I requested the following solutions and the answers from [name removed] are as follows : Can you replace the BCM at my expense? [name removed] said NO.
Bought their 1000w kit with upgraded wiring and 10Ah battery.
The rear rack is so cheaply made it will crack and fail within just a few months. - Then they have the galls to try and charge me $55 for a new one when they are sold for less than half that (INCLUDING the shipping) on Ebay? No thanks.
I am also on my 3rd battery with that kit. Ouch at $500 each.
The second kit I got was the Arc 1000w kit. They didn't glue/pad down the internal battery sufficiently, thus over time the battery pack would rattle, eventually it would get loose enough to damage the internal components.
Have sent it back on multiple occasions... So now I just don't bother using that bike if I don't have to so I don't have to deal with it.
Great e-bike conversion!
I have been reading some of the negative reviews regarding Dillenger products, and I think people exaggerate their problems, or maybe they don’t go about fixing them in the appropriate manner. I purchased a 48v 1000w off road conversion kit and I have really had no problems whatsoever. I downloaded the instruction manual on to my iPad and found them to be extremely clear and easy to follow. The pictures accompanying each step could be zoomed in to see exactly how to complete correctly. Iris always answers quickly and I can recommend Dillenger as being a quality product.
Waiting for refund or replacement battery
Still waiting for a response from [name removed] about how to return a second battery as I didn’t bother with the first battery but after 2x batteries failing to work. I also paid for the more expensive lithium $330 which they were out of stock so purchased lead batt which is $150 less and died after a couple of rides. I am still wanting to know what happened with my change this was dec 2016 almost a year and I still don’t know
There is always room for improvement
Reading previous reviews I can not help NOT agreeing with some of them. I have experienced problems to communicate with Iris (she seems to be the face of the business) but she never fails to email me though. I hope they can fix the telephone problems because "No communication means No Customers" since I have been dealing with Dillinger this seems to be a chronic problem and surely for most could be very frustrating no being able to get the support they need. I like to support our locals and it is up to them to keep us as customers. At the end of the day it is very easy to "EBAY IT" some where else, and we don't want this to happen do we?
Do not buy!
No customer service, nobody replies to emails and no one answers the phone calls. I bought an Explorer folding bike 3 years ago and I regretted from the beginning.
I got the bicycle in a box after 5 days shipped from QD. The manual to assembly lacked in information. I tried to contact Dillenger many times to get help with issues but as I mentioned before nobody answered calls, messages or emails. The bicycle is heavy, the screws get loose and riding it I lost some of them. No way to find the original ones. The brakes are cheap, they got wrong...
Terrible customer service and a bad attitude
Purchased a KT LCD3 display online, website reported as being in stock. A few weeks later got asked what it was I wanted, sent them details and they said they would post it, a few weeks later got asked for a picture of what I wanted, sent them a detailed picture and they said yes we have that in stock but still didn't post it. After 6 weeks Dillenger will no longer respond to emails, won't post the display or send a refund, I had to raise a PayPal dispute to get a refund.
Worst customer service I have ever come across and a real attitude ...problem in their correspondence, nothing is ever their fault and they won't even respond to refund requests even when they haven't sent out purchased items. Seriously, avoid these people, delivery of parts from China would be much faster, much cheaper and more likely to arrive.
Terrible bike. Terrible company support. DO NOT BUY!!
The bike worked great.... for a whole two days. All these bad reviews sound so familiar. Got told original problem would probably just be the fuse if I just replaced it... the bike had no fuse wired into it, just a hole. Have had to have the bike re wired three times, the battery does one third of promised range, screws continually fall out and most plastic parts wear or break within 3 months. Three dealers I have spoken to since refuse to stock their bikes after dealings with the company include impossible to deal with warranty wise, deny ever...ything, palm you off to whoever they can and rely on postal costs to discourage returns. Never return calls which is especially annoying as you need to call them 4-5 times everyone just to get a call answered and if you bring this up they flat out doubt it's true. Was even told by head office i would need to buy parts, for a bike under warranty still, from an aftermarket parts dealer completely not affiliated with them with no guarantees the part would be a straight fit without any other work required. Constantly frustrated, angry and unbelievably disappointed with this company. Will continue to tell everyone in person and online, where ever I can for as long as I can... DO NOT BUY!!!
1000w bike conversion kit fails after 150 miles.
The kit cost me $1000 and worked for all of one month before it would stop working. Customer service promised to send replacement parts, 6 months ago. Filed 5 complaints and warranty claims and emailed them. I haven't heard back. I feel completely screwed over.
Failed battery not replaced
My e-bike battery “failed” (Dillenger’s word after they tested it) after just 13 months of light duty. They offered a new one at a 10% discount – which would not even pay for my postage costs. I complained that other batteries often last 3-5 years, and mine was less than 10% through their specification of 1000 charge cycles. They refused to replace the battery and I have not heard from them since.
Dillenger admitted that they reduced their 2 year warranty to one year after 2014 because they are using a lower quality product. Yet they contin...
No quality control and no customer service
Purchase 2 bikes long time for delivery, both arrived with problems spokes were so loose they were falling out we had to get it fixed at local bike shop, parts missing, it has taken 7 months to get the parts, they don't answer your emails or calls, then when they do they tell you they have sent parts, but still don't arrive for months, then sent wrong parts 3 times, absolutely no care, rude when you do get to speak to them, as if it's your fault, always ask you to send a video to prove you have a problem, no quality control and no customer service, they come straight from china. Don't buy from Dillenger Australia, not worth the hassle.
Best thing I could of done
I rode my friends bike with the BBSHD kit.. I HAD to get one myself.. Best thing i ever did.. Now use my bike LOTS now. Poor car is feeling left out..
Easy to purchase online, great / fast service.. Easy to install with the tool kit that they also sell..
Have no issue using this company again..
Bought online, the bike was delivered 4 days later. Wonderful service. Wonderful bike. Easy to assemble and a joy to ride.
I purchased a front hub kit - goes unreal. Easy to use easy to install Goes great
- goes unreal. Easy to use easy to install Goes great.
Unreal fun as well... I ride it to work, drop kids off - its like a second car. (Car hasn't been getting used since to be honest).
Hunter Off Road OMG
Every once in a while something comes along that transforms your very notions of time and space. Today this happened. I have been considering buying an electric bike for 5 years. Last week I took the plunge on the Hunter BBS and today I finally was able to take it out into the wild to see if it could live up to my expectations. I can confirm that this is a thing of pure beauty. It can do 50km/h on straight and 35km/k on an incline. The bike was packed well and shipped fast but missing a part. I contacted Dillenger who quickly rectified it by sending me the new part and did a follow up call to see if I was happy with everything.
If you are umming and arring about buying this Aussie then I highly recommend diving in.
Cheap and poor service
Bought a Hunter light and have had heaps of issues I had to get my local bike shop to fix as I could not get any response (apart from automated email) from Dillenger. I left messages on the phone and email with no response.
I've had to get spokes tightened that were loose from new, had to get new brake pads after 1600km, had to fix short in motor cables.
Pathetic Customer Service
Bought a Puma Electric bike, no manual available. When quizzed they told me to look at the Cheetah manual. Not much use as my bike:
1. Not foldable
2. Has disc brakes
3. Needs handlebars and front wheel installed.
4. Has a controller not shown in the manual.
Asked again, no reply. I hope people who but the expensive bikes get better service.
Pathetic customer service
After purchasing a 250w conversion kit on 2 sep 2015, I received no information about my purchase. On the 9 sep I followed up with a call and was told it shipped on the 7 sep and would have it by 11 sep. I called again on 15 sep and was told they would get back to me with an email of the con note number. I called back on the 16th and was given a con note number for direct freight. I entered the con note number to direct freight website, not valid, so I called direct freight, no delivery existed either con note or my name. I called dillenger and...got a rude reception when I relayed the information from direct freight. To my surprise the next day the con note number came up as valid and was shipped on the 16th almost 2 weeks my order had not been shipped despite being told numerous times it had....
