Total rubbish - First and last time i will buy this brand
Have the 3.2kW and 7.8kW systems (on recommendation from the staff at Harvey norman) ... unfortunately both are absolute rubbish...
The 3.2kw the sparky ended up breaking trying to install (and after replacing with a Fujitsu, it was clear to see why, the cheap copper pipes used are maybe 1/3rd as thick, and the overall quality side by side is completely different.
The 7.8 that we actually installed operates at around 2/3rds of the power of the Fujitsu 7.5, and is twice as loud... and has no variable climate control... (it seems that it i...s either running flat out or nothing) The Fujitsu on the other hand steps down as it gets closer to temperature, which i can only guess is saving money in the process... First and last time i will buy this brand, and was not happy with Harvey Norman to be steered away from a reputable brand to be cross-sold this junk.
A great Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner
This unit has been a real surprise! It was the lowest in the price range for split system air cons.
It has been my best purchase for a long while. Copes with the heat of my kitchen without having to dial up ridiculously low temperatures. Likewise reverse cycle warming just hums along.
It's really quiet, was no drama to install.
The operation is simple and not loaded with unnecessary selections that I have no idea what they actually do.
It also has a light, flattish profile that doesn't poke out from the wall.
Questions & Answers
Can anyone give me some information on the general effectiveness of theDimple DCSS18 split system, Should I have it installed or should I burn it?
The issue i have found with our dimplex vs the fujitsu of the same size, cooling the same area (large room with one aircon either side) .... the fujitsu seems to step down and modulate to different power levels more efficiently as temps get to the correct levels... it also runs a lot quieter...
the dimplex seems to want to run at full-noise all the time then shut itself off then kick back into full noise again.... haven't done actual power level testing ( maybe the dimplex is just crap and noisey ) but my thoughts are it's drawing far more power overall than the fujitsu.... Both were bought at the same time, both pump around the same actual coldness/volume though, the fujitsu is just far smarter, quieter and the build quality is no comparison... personally will never buy dimplex again
